Title: [WTS] Used AMD FX-8150 CPU
Post by: sonikku13 on June 16, 2013, 05:50:41 PM
I am looking for BTC1.25 for this processor. This FX-8150 has been sitting on an antistatic mat ever since I replaced it with an FX-8350, so it's been sitting on an antistatic mat for 7 months. The FX-8150 can overclock to 4.5 GHz on air when last tested at 1.4875 V. No guarantees on the overclocking capability of the processor at the moment. Processor is sold as-is.

It does have Antec Formula 7 thermal paste on it at the moment. That may need to be cleaned off. If requested to clean it, I will clean it.

Please, make offers if you feel I am asking too much.

You're supposed to clean the paste off before you remove it from the socket so that you don't bend the pins.

I just checked and luckily none of the pins are bent. Tested it through a broken GA-970A-UD3 motherboard (I broke the clip off a RAM slot. CPU socket remains fine).

You're supposed to clean the paste off before you remove it from the socket so that you don't bend the pins.

That makes zero sense. If the cooler is already removed you just have to release the latch. It could have weapons grade plutonium sitting on top of it and you still just have to grab the edges of the cpu and remove it from the socket.  If you're talking about cleaning the thermal paste you can just drop it in a board, lock the latch, and clean it off before you reinstall the cooler.

I went off and cleaned the thermal paste off it while I was reapplying the thermal paste to my current CPU to try to lower temps to enable a higher overclock. It didn't work. Still stuck with a faulty temperature sensor.

Either way, the FX-8150 is now clean of thermal paste.
