Yes, you can use it for HDD mining, but expect about 1 cent per month earning

or less

For proof of capacity (PoC) such as Burst coin or Storj coin, few hundred Gb even 1Tb is not worth for mining. Also, using laptop for mining is not good idea I think.
If you are really interested in PoC mining, I suggest you purchase some HDD (total should be >15Tb), but actually the ROI for PoC mining now could be 2 years or even longer.

Yes you can take an SSD out of your laptop and use it for a GPU mining rig.
