Title: STRONGCOIN.COM - WARNING!
Post by: alborg on November 06, 2017, 08:47:08 PM
So today I needed to use an online virtual wallet for my bitcoins.  I deposited just over £80 worth into WWW.STRONGCOIN.COM.  I know transaction fees for most online wallets are normally around £2 - £2.50 (approx 0.0005BTC) so you can imagine my shock when I was charged 0.004 BTC to transfer £80 worth of bitcoins from this site.  Yep that's about £22!!!!!

I've tried to contact via email and user DogIsland on bitcointalk.org (as he is the owner) but have heard nothing back.

AVOID WWW.STRONGCOIN.COM AT ALL COSTS!!!!

Why didn't you use some well-known and trusted online wallet like blockchain.info and many others are available as well. If you wanted to use an online wallet, you should have used blockchain which is very easy to use and uses just the recommended fees for the network. I don't see any reason for strongcoin.com to be better than blockchain in any regard. If they charge you that much, you can't do anything with that because you had the choice to choose your wallet and you chose them. Now once you are charged, i don't think they will refund the fees you have paid for your transaction.

Same sentiments here. I haven't heard about strongcoin until you open this thread. Where is this based btw? Maybe you should try like £50 to see how they responded. And you didn't have the chance to change to transaction fees with this wallet though? I hope you learn your lesson mate, Just used other trusted wallet like the mentioned above. Although there is still a bright light at the end of the tunnel because you said that the owner is a bitcointalk member. Maybe he is just busy or what so let's give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

mmm, never heard of strongcoin.com but thanks a lot for the wallet, most wallets however allows the user to set their own fees, you should check and see if they have something similar or find a way to reach the owner. good luck..

First time I hear about strongcoin too. Why don't you use well known wallets like Electrum for your bitcoins and not some random web online wallet like this one. Electrum is even mobile now incase you wanted to deposit in an online wallet to have your funds at disposal for ease of use wherever you are. I hope your situation is solved but for next time now you know what to do.
