Title: Miners in Northern California- PG&E territory charge .27/ Kwh $5.18/Day for L3
Post by: OptionsGuy on November 06, 2017, 09:29:19 PM

Any miners in Nor Cal?  Tier 1 of power rates is 19 cents ( covering base home use). Miners get charged at Tier 2 rates of 27 cents. Daily charges for 800W L3+ is $5.18  :-\
Anyone experience this? Is there a way around it in Nor Cal?
Cheers

I feel like that even if you manage to get a 50% discount you'll have trouble staying competitive.

You need to find a place to get industrial rates. Even then, its expensive (around .14/kWh), but it cuts down the costs from residential heavily.

And that's WHY you don't see a lot of folks mining cryptocoin in California - pretty much the whole state has crazy-high electric rates.

The "way around it" is to MOVE to an area that has lower rates.
