Imo, if you have more than 1 BTC, Trezor is a safe option among others

A cheaper option is to encrypt a USB drive and then use bitaddress.org to generate a wallet. You can use bitaddress.org on the fly on their website but if you are very paranoid then download the wallet generator from their Github and create your wallets in an offline computer. Then cut, not copy, your public address and private key in your encrypted USB drive.

it depends on you, if you want to get free forked coins then put it on online exchanges that supports the fork coins like yobit but if you want to ensure the safety of your coins then much better if you transfer it on a bitcoin wallet that allows you to hold your private keys , much better if you have a hardware wallets or on cold storage/offline computers to add an even extra security.

+1 for trezor. It's definitely a risk to keep it in the exchange.

Cold wallet can be a safe place where you can put your bitcoins but when the fork comes you will not be getting any free alt coins however if you have bitcoins to spare i suggest you put some to exchanges that is if you wanted to gain free alt coins then trade it when the time comes. I think trezor is the best wallet there is.

If you want an tightest securities yes the trezor is a safe option compare to others bit it requires an payment before you access it . of you want the cheapest but the safe is to cold storage and to USB its have a good traits and have an safe securities but i hopr that sooner they make an atm in bitcoin that surely you secure

I agree with this, but even less than 1 BTC may warrant a hardware wallet. A Ledger Nano S can be purchased for less than $100, so I would think once you get even 0.1 BTC, which today is worth around $700, you will want to protect it.

Well I would recommend to think on your own. Some people lost a decent amount of potential profit because they transfered their coins to their paprt wallets before the previous fork and were not able to trade it (while the ones who left funds on exchanges made some good money). So now they are saying that they gona keep BTC on exchanges. Imho this is still very risky and safey should come first but your risk management should be only your decision.

Depends on how much money you have really. If you have less than 1 BTC leaving it on an exchange is probably the best option to take advantage of any forks. If you have > 10 BTC, you might only want to leave 1 or 2 BTC on an exchange to trade with and keep the rest secured in a hardware or paper wallet. You can still access your forked coins later on, you will just need to transfer your stored coins to a new address than use the old private key to access your forked coins.

Cryptocurrencies are secure, because they are decentralised in nature and often analyse digital transactions.
They also validate everything on public, tamper-resistant blockchains.
With more & more money getting invested in digital currencies than ever before, and particularly given that many investors are new to the system and may not know how to keep their investments secure, hackers are coming up with innovative ways to steal funds from such new investors.
Many types of wallets are available in market Desktop wallet, Hardware wallet, Paper wallet etc.
Among them hardware wallet is more secure.
Its like USB stick you can carry it anywhere.
Always keep your private key encrypted.
Now each bitcoin is quiet worth so secure it.

Your choice will depend on what you want to do. If you want to take decisions on your own, then you have to chose a method that would give you 100% control over your private keys. <Paper wallets>

Some people do not understand paper wallets, so they opt for methods that are much easier, like Hardware wallets and desktop wallets and/or online wallets. < These methods give the provider of these services the choice, when they want to extract the free coins or give support for it >

Never ever keep your bitcoin in a wallet if you don't want to lose bitcoin. Maybe some exchange will make Announcement regarding to what happen to your funds before and after HF but it have the potential of having system error and making you lost your bitcoin.
You should just safe it in a desktop wallet or hardware wallet and give it 2FA everything will be fine, even if HF occur, your bitcoin will still be there.

I would recommend to keep your Bitcoin on a paper wallet. make a vanity address then put the private key and the funds on to it. after the fork you could just input your private key on a wallet that you can code your privatekey on it. Hope this help you.

Just keep your bitcoin in those exchange sites that decided to support the b2x. You can take the more advantage by trade your free coin in there. The other people that will have received their fork in the wallet or something else will not able to send their bitsegwit2x after the fork due to the network still not alive. If you are wanna taking the more advantage and you can try to follow me step. I keep my bitcoin on binance.
Some people will say that will a bit risky, but i just want to dump my bitsegwit2x

As you can see, Bitcoin Gold is a fail hard fork. Therefore, investors' view about Bitcoin Silver is not good. They are not interested in this fork. I think they will store their Bitcoin in an offline wallet.

They say that Cold Storage is the best place for our bitcoin when hard fork, but I really don't know what is the cold storage and how to use it but I want to know how it works so I can also store my bitcoin in a safe place. For the mean time, I just simply encash it and if the price fall down. I will buy again some bitcoin and wait for the price to rise again.

You need to use a hard wallet with open soure sell in internet, a cold wallet or a private key on a computer that is not connected to the Internet and not connected to any copied peripheral.
and more info, you can check via Google! The best way at the moment for all info you need!

I do the same i keep most of my coins in my wallet. I store them at blockchain where i trust this site with my heart. I have reconsidered to do it in a offline wallet but i didn't trust it.

I will now keep my coins online at blockchain i hope that i will not be hacked lol.

if you want to get free new bitcoin when the fork is coming then you can save your bitcoin at the exchanges that will supporting the new bitcoin fork. but if you don't want free coins, then you can save too another wallet like bitcoin core, mycellium, jaxx and other wallet and its better if you do in offline wallet or hardware wallet like trezor. but i think you can keep your bitcoin at the exchanges because you can have free coins and you can sell it to make free money.

I can recommend you hardware wallet if don't mind spent money for hardware wallet. Two most popular on the market are Trezor and Ledger Nano S. Both have small display that is an extra layer of security when you send bitcoins (creating transaction) There is malware designed to swap your destination wallet address from clipboard memory with another address so if you do not pay attention you will send your bitcoins to different address and lose your money. Have a look on youtube there are some reviews both for Trezon and Nano S wallets.

Trezor:

Any web wallet that accepts bitcoin to store it is safe. You can use the web exchange as a wallet if you want.

Sorry.. but this the worst advise ever...never leave important amount of BTC or any valuable Altcoins in the exchange wallet..they control the priv. keys not you...if you not convince check what happen with MtGox, cryptsy, bitfinex and btce recently...

Just store your btc in your desktop wallet that you can control your private keys and if you want to aquire some Sigwit2x coins ratio 1:1  automatically just send your bitcoin on exchanges that support segwit2x like bittrex and coinbase or hitbtc they will credit you this coins after the fork.

I know you're here to add posts and activity to your account but I want to emphasize, for the real newbs out there, that bitaddress.org is not a holy grail for securing your BTC. It all depends on the user.

There are wallet security guides available online, just google them.

If you are really into the security of the bitcoin then i will suggest to you to buy a hardware wallet. That is the safest place that i know where you can put a lot of bitcoins and also other coins and keep it for long term. That is the best wallet as of now and most of the people who got a big amount of bitcoins and other cryptocurrency are now using hardware wallet because of its security.

Your wallet must be very secure so you can trust it all by itself. Keeping it in you bitcoin wallet is one secure way of keeping your bitcoin. There are many options of our bitcoin wallet in our country that lets us keep our money. We can cash out the bitcoin if we want and keep it in our bank and it depends on us if we want to take it or use it for our personal use. Bitcoin has still no reports of being hacked and only carelessness is what causes other bitcoin users to lose their bitcoin.

I can help you to understand the cold storage of your cryptocurrency. There are many possible methods to do it and obviously favored by the users due to high level of security provided .Best  among all possible ways is to save your Bitcoins in the form of information in USB drive or making the use of paper wallet as well as offline hardware wallets for  saving your coins.

Yes the exchange place is the best and the valuable thing but now as the time going the bitcoin is getting more valuable with the passage of the time I know how fast the bitcoin will grow and this will increase the power and the price of the bitcoin at the same range and the price I hope the future with the bitcoin is going to be very bright and we will see how the bitcoin is going to rock the world.

As for me, I keep my coins in exchange sites and other online wallets. By this means, I can still received equal amount of coins during fork or coin swap. With regards to security issues, I have no problem with it since I am very careful with my private key and I also activated 2FA authentication which increase the security of the my accounts. Plus, no matter how safe your coin may be  in whatever kind of wallet, always remember that there's a risk. :)

It is very necessary in trading to keep your money safe, while trading just keep your wallet offline so that nobody could get access to it and won't be able to hack it and there would be no fear of your wallet been stolen or lost. Be keen about to whom you are investing and where you are investing, select some promising projects and be rich in short time

The best way for me I think is to encrypt all files and neccessary information that you have that is ised to access your wallet. If it is even possible you can also have your wallet be in your USB that you can carry around and also have it encrypted. Just so that there mght ba a minimization of the risk you ate having when transacting andmputting bitcoin in your wallet

Bitcoin does carry some unique risks. The value of the cryptocurrency has been three times as volatile as the price of oil and 11 times more than the post-Brexit exchange rate between the dollar and the British pound, according to European Tech analysts from Credit Suisse's Global Markets Research Department. Bitcoin transfers are also irreversible, so those who inadvertently enter an extra digit when trying to pay for something are out of luck. Finally, users need a private key to access their bitcoins, and that key operates like a password that cannot be reset. If the private key is lost or stolen, so are the bitcoins that go with it.

Backup your wallet. Stored in a safe place, a backup of your wallet can protect you against computer failures and many human mistakes. It can also allow you to recover your wallet after your mobile or computer was stolen if you keep your wallet encrypted.

Having a trusted wallet is the safer place for your bitcoin. Be it hardwallet or a webwallet as long as this wallets are legit and have good reputation. On top of that, you have to keep it yourself secure too by not giving hackers a chance to steal it from you. Just be vigilant at all times.

I rely more on trezor in securing bitcoin assets because the security in it is very qualified and able to make someone more comfortable and will not panic if there is loss of assets later. The most important thing you can keep trezor well and do not let you lend to others.

Hi bro and sis
Where to keep the Bitcoin at the safe place?
Or just keep at exchange before fork ?
Any idea ?
Thanks

Your question is being redundant. That is obvious that you will be keeping your bitcoin in a safe place or wallet or hardware. I am keeping my bitcoins now into an Electrum wallet, been saving them there for a long time now and I still don't have a problem, even after a vulnerable report in the past couple of days. If you have a lot of bitcoin, saving them in a hardware like Trezor or a paper wallet will be better.

Use a hardware wallet if you have an extra money for buying trezor wallet or ledger nano. You wallet will be more secured and lesser chance of getting hack. Never use an exchange just for storing your bitcoin if you dont want to lose it once the exchange will shut down or being hack

With me . if i get bitcoin. I would choose a paper wallet to contain bitccoin. Paper wallets are also very safe and convenient. And use a long password to protect my bitcoins. And do not disclose my password to anyone who knows.

There are three options:
Cold Storage: Store them in an offline computer or different OS and only use it for tranferiing and storing coins.
Paper Wallet: Print your Bitcoin private key on a piece of paper and store it somehwere safe.
Hardware Wallet: This is the best option as it more easily accessable and secures your Bitcoins well too.
