Title: BTC Vs. BCH (For Investment)
Post by: Kruddler on November 07, 2017, 10:19:26 AM
I'm sorry if these questions have been asked before.

1) I assume that BTC and BCH are two different currencies with two independent values. I.e. the values of the currencies are not intrinsically linked. Is this assumption correct?
2) Is there are chart which plots both currencies so I can see how they have fared against each other since the last fork?
3) Would it be a good idea to hedge bets on BTC and BCH? I.e. buy an equal amount of both?
4) Do you have any advice on which one to buy for investment purposes?

1) BTC is bitcoin and the only cryptocurrency. the rest including BCH or bitcoin cash are altcoins and they are copy cats of bitcoin which call themselves cryptocurrency but i  say as long as they are not used or designed to use as a currency they should not call themselves that.

2) try bitinfocharts.com or similar websites, they may have what you need.

3) no. it is always best to get involved with altcoins in short term not as hedge or anything else. they fall so often and when they do they fall big.

4) that is something you need to come up with on your own. i am a bitcoin hodler, i invest in bitcoin and use altcoins for trading purposes only!

Why is BCH, or other altcoins not currency?

What is so different about those things that make them not currencies?

I say go for it. I love me some BCH. My portfolio is currently 40% bch. I didn't dump the free coins, instead I bought twice at $320. My portfolio is now almost more than double. I have no regrets. I get a lot of hate for my choice to buy bch. Guess what, its my freaken money and I can do whatever the hell I like. Other peoples opinions of my choices do not matter.
1. Yes
2. Not that I know of.
3. Yes, go for it
4. BCH

Lastly don't listen to people that bought bitcoins a long time ago. Bch is the only 2nd chance we can get to getting the gains they have enjoyed over the years.

1) Yes, that's right they are different currencies and does have different values.
2) You can just simply go with coinmarketcap.com
3) Go for it, you chose the right coin.
4) Bitcoin now is on a very good stage of correction so I would be investing on it but it's main opponent now is its forked coin BCH. Why not have them both?

anything with a different name is a different thing than bitcoin. and we call them all as "altcoins" or "alternative coins/cryptocurrencies".

regarding investment i have to say bitcoin is the only trusted investment around and is the choice of everyone because it has real world applications. other altcoins lack this crucial factor which means they don't have good futures ahead of them.
regarding bitcoin cash, don't get your hopes up in the long term for this altcoin. but in short term you can see good performance out of it when it gets pumped and miners manipulate the price to mine and dump it using the Emergency Difficulty Adjustment of BCH.

Whether or not you are for BitcoinCash(BCH) or against it when talking about the blocksize debate, BCH is still considered a cryptocurrency. This is simply just pure fact. The security, usability, etc of BCH is a different matter.

Cryptocurrency definition(Wikipedia):
A cryptocurrency (or crypto currency) is a digital asset designed to work as a medium of exchange using cryptography to secure the transactions, to control the creation of additional units, and to verify the transfer of assets.

Yes you're correct. BTC and BCH are two different coins and different values. They somehow got connected due to the fork in which one will receive the same amount of bch to however much your btc is. And with investment, for me, bitcoin still is the best investment. We've all seen how bitcoin has grown ever since. So there's no doubting its credibility. Afterall investment is a risk. So go risk it for what's already built a name.

Well imho all cryptocurrencies and their rates are partly depend on the general situation around BTC. I can hardly name any "safe heaven" coins where you can hide during some troubles of BTC. Also they are not that different simply because BCH is a fork. I still have some doubts about BCH in a ling term so it seems wiser to split some of your savings between many onther altcoins with a better perspective,

BCH is bitcoin, if you don't invest in BCH then you deserve to be poor.
