Post by: elissa on November 07, 2017, 12:00:56 PM
Did somebody test the Bitcoin gold for mining? Is it profitable? I couldn't find a calculator for it

Bitcoin Gold is still running their test net and they haven't launched their main net yet. So, you will have to wait for a few days to start mining Bitcoin Gold.

As always, first will get all the cream. When it shows on WTM, profit will be low as hell. In any case, for those who won't jump between cryptos, that is a good time.

On the test network there are very few miners that mine, because there is no profit.
When the real mining start, believe me, it will be very very different story.
My guess is that at the beginning will be maybe 3-4 times more profitable than the current best profitable coin on what to mine.
And when most of the miners figure how to mine it it will equal in profit with the other coins. For that to happen i give it maximum of 2 days.
Also this is a Chinese fork(Lighting Asic founder is the creator), maybe they well be already mining it with huge farms before the small miners join.

Guys, somewhere I heard that devs of this coin, mining first blocks from the september and it will be a big scam.
Thats just what I heard.
But I am not sure about this.

You can check their website (bitcoingold.com) for an updated countdown before their mainnet is launched. Once this countdown ends and their mainnet is launched, you will be able to start mining. Usually, when a new coin like this is launched, it will be profitable for the first few hours even up to a whole day because there is little or no competition between miners. But when miners learn this is profitable to mine, a ton of them will come over and profitability will of course go down.

Well, checkout miner number on suprnova. It is already screwed!

The official information says that mining for Bitcoin Gold will be available at block height 499407. However, I doubt that mining for this cryptocurrency is a good idea. You will spend more money and time for the process of mining, and the profit will be minimal (or no profit at all).

Right now no idea how profitable it is but I'm willing to give it a shot for now ... mining is a hobby for me ...

BTw the QT bitcoin gold wallet version works, i just finished downloading the full node from the BTC block chain sense it uses the BTC BC  and you can run the bitcoin core and bitcoin gold wallet on the same PC at the same time just have a big Hard drive for two copy's of the BTC block chain i couldn't share the chains ...I'm getting payments from one of the pools i think the others are not working right or being dishonest ...  sorry to say the pool I'm mining on seems to be very honest the payment are on the money so to speak while the others take for ever to post some thing i don't trust them yet ..

The pool i use

https://gpool.guru/

btw we never know this might work they said zec was a bad idea don't mine it, if you worry about Roi yea don't mine it   ..... now look at Zcash .. well any way well see...in time.

BTG has been doing pretty well for me lately. I have been mining with 3 1070s and adding another 1070 Ti later this week. Have been going pretty much since the chain synced up with a 2 hour gap when my miner froze once. I have mined about .13469 so far at 1460 sols/s. Planning on keeping this up for another week or two before deciding what to do with the coins.

I'm only making 2.60 cents a day before electric cost with a 1080 ti running at 80 tdp on suprnova

Not profitable at all.

And to be more specific. I'm earning around 0.15 to 0.16 btg a day with 9x 1080ti on supr Nova

2x 1050ti = ~.01btg per day here (also on suprnova), does that fall in line?

Hello,

Anyone tried to mine it on laptop?  ;D

lol I'm admittedly still pointing my GPUs at BTG, but if I was gonna fry a laptop mining, I would at least do it over an established coin  ;)

Title: Re: Bitcoin gold mining is profitable?

its profitable yes but you might want to expand the area of understanding first about the miner gpu. cause you need a higher gpu to overcome the electricity cost and to have higher hash. upon doing that i can clearly say that it is indeed profitable.
