Post by: amaral1977 on November 07, 2017, 09:37:29 PM

Now where is Nokia? maybe some 18y/o guy who trades BTC doesnīt even know what Nokia is...
So will BTC be anywhere 10 years from now? or would it have been replaced for something better and more inovative?

We cant predict exactly where will BTC be after 10 years, but we can expect that it will be surely more popular and more valuable than its actual statut. Also more countries will legalize it and more marketplaces both online and offline will support it as a payment method.

We cannot tell what will happen tomorrow in this crypto world. Because the price of each and every coins are largely depended on rumors and predictions. Everyone in this crypto community hopes that its price will cross 50000 dollars in next 10 years. But as I said we cannot tell anything. If tomorrow a cryptocurrency with better specifications and features than bitcoin arrive in market, it can overtake bitcoin's position leading to its price crash.

In my opinion Bitcoin will continue to grow from strength to strength and in the next 10 years Bitcoin should be at the rate of  $30,000 worth. And it will need serious technology advancement for any other altcoins to replace Bitcoin or over take Bitcoin in terms of market capitalisation and value.

10 years there are lots of possibilities that even Nakamoto will not know or predict it. Bitcoin price will increase that’s is given but to what this cryptocurrency be like in the eye of the society is a different society on every country. But if things goes well for succeeding years, to be one of the major or alternative currency in the world we do have much more than a decade but few more of it. I’ll go with bitcoin everywhere it goes and support it more than any cryptocurrency coin that will be made soon.

Well I can predict that in 10 years Bitcoin will certainly be worth more than it was 10 years ago. Even if it crashes or get supplanted by another coin it will most likely never go back to 0.

Hopefully, we will have addressed some of the issues with Bitcoin and started to make waves in adoption. Hopefully, Bitcoin will continue to get much easier to access and we will have more documentation on the subject to support new investors into the currency.

I'm not going to make any price predictions, but I think we'll be seeing the price being at it's highest point in history.

If bitcoin and its success can be defined as a net sum of the financial problems it solves: limited versus infinite supply, trust versus non trust based systems, lower bar to entry to consumers et al. Its success could continue until another technology comes along which solves those financial problems in a better fashion.

One of the key issues allowing bitcoin's success is the industry wide stagnation, lack of innovation and development present in the banking industry. These circumstances led to a vacuum being created which bitcoin was able to fill. Now that blockchain is everywhere, bitcoin is like a mousetrap. It will reign supreme until someone succeeds in designing and building a better mousetrap. How long that might take is anyone's guess.

10 years is a long time in today's world. As someone stated earlier nokia and other corporate giants can rise and fall within that timeframe. Within 10 years both the united states and the european union could easily default on their debt and collapse taking the dollar and euro with them. I would like to be optimistic and say that bitcoin will replace gold and serve as a reserve currency eventually on the road to reaching $1 million usd per btc. Not because I'm holding a lot of bitcoins and will benefit largely from this but because bitcoin is probably the best designed and most reliable financial system that has ever been created and that value will be the biggest thing people look for if the USA and EU run into financial difficulties which appears almost inevitable at this point.

It is impossible to know that mate, nobody can predict what is going to happen with bitcoin in some years because it is impossible, there is no way because we dont have a crystal ball in order to be able to predict the price. but it will solve a lot of problems in a near future, and i am sure about that, bitcoin has a lot of potential but the real governments are not seeing that, and this is a real problem and it needs to be solved asap.
Governments and financial institutions can still make profit from bitcoin, i dont know why they are not doing it at the moment, instead of spreading fud..

It's gonna be around $120.000 and people won't be able to buy it via fiat money because of this incredible price. USA and Russial will probably announce the acceptance for bitcoin legally.

We'll be able to use it for daily spendings.

Lol you dreaming increase in price of btc has always caused a significant increase in fees. The average fees has always been around 0.001 for most of the transactions and as price becomes $100k (god knows how you speculated that) the fees in dollars will have a huge impact.

Hopefully, we will have addressed some of the issues with Bitcoin and started to make waves in adoption. Hopefully, Bitcoin will continue to get much easier to access and we will have more documentation on the subject to support new investors into the currency.
This adoption will always remain a dream even in future we can't really expect the price but I'm sure it will be more than the current one and as price increases so does fees accordingly many will rather just save their btc instead of spending it on pizzas  ::)

There are coins which are mire innovative and more efficient than btc but the only problem is the domination of btc majority of investors surely don't care about adoption of btc.
I see neo replacing btc in future :o

Development in btc LMAO it's not possible to quite a extent because there is no official representative from btc. If development could have been taken place you would see it being used in supermarkets and hypermarkets.

Many predictions has been said and there is no solid proof to back up their statements and it depends on several aspects.

The market cup of bitcoin is 21 million and the demand in the future will increase so probably it will stay for 10 years or more.

Many altcoins have been released but it didnt stop btc to be on top.

If Banks does not decide take down Bitcoin because is their direct competitor and threat, Bitcoin can reach $ 75.000 mark. I can't think at this moment it could go higher. I heard from few people that are investors on the stock market that if BTC grows too big Banks will do something about it. I find this hard to believe.

These two kinds of future would ultimately depend on its users. If the bitcoin holders and users would choose to continue to use it, then number 1 would most likely to occur. However if people choose to dump or countries chose to ban, then the demand would fall and number two may occur. In my head, those 2 kind of results may likely happen. It’s hard to tell because even just a few years from now, a lot can change and happen with bitcoin. For all we know, these things might happen by tomorrow.

10 years from now? Who knows if bitcoin will be the same with Nokia, there's no permanent in this world but only the innovation and satisfaction of people. Everyone does have their own taste on what to support and what to buy but what do you think about real estates and stock markets? They aren't forgotten and bitcoin can stay for a little bit long without any range of time as many are treating it now as solely an investment. But time will come that it will be upgraded and will make it more innovative but it won't be replaced.

For me we can't tell what exactly it will be. But as bitcoin helped us, we used it for our business specially in our wants and needs. It is possible that there will other cryptocurrency that can oppose to these. But it is possible also that its effectiveness or its usage will continue and improve in the future.

Don't worry about the fees because changes can happen if it is really needed like the recent increment on the block size. Also there are days that the network isn't much busy and paying for the recommended fee is just an option.

Satoshi himself saw this, he thought that bitcoin will be worth a fortune or nothing, there is not a middle ground with bitcoin is an all or nothing kind of proposition, so bitcoin is going to be worth zero dollars or more than 100k in that time span, I believe like many people in the forum that bitcoin is going to reach the second outcome in which it is very valuable.

Nokia is a cellular phone brand that is being used by everyone before but due to some trend that they did not follow they are out in the market. Bitcoin is very different from nokia, bitcoin is not a cellular phone that needs an update all the time. Bitcoin only needs a supporter or investor, internet as well.

May be Nokia is something different that doesn’t fit in the criteria where bitcoin is giving us shit lot money. So thats obvious to forget about the Nokia at first glance. Lolz.

Bitcoin will grow but its growth will be steady after few years because most of the bitcoin harvest will be limited and the prices could be 50K and above. Because the prices are going to be skyrocketed that much then there is possibility that people will have hard time buying the bitcoin so investors input would be very slow leading to slow growth. In such cases we will use bitcoin as money farm, just to keep our money and raise it slowly. It will be safest place to keep the long earned money and then slowly earn back more. May be this kind of situation could happen. :-)

There is always two possible scenarios, one is bright and the other is dark. It all depends on the the people, if people will keep on supporting bitcoin there is no way bitcoin will go dump. And in contrary, once people keep themselves away from Bitcoin, bitcoin will surely be gone. Nokia does not reach success because they become stagnant, the features were not developed and new advanced and developed technology was discovered. The same way will happen if bitcoin will not be developed. Faster transaction and lower transaction fee must be provided before a new technology comes. But Im sure that bitcoin has a bright future, the technology was unique and already established. Lets just hope for a better future for it.

Well, both are totally different.Nokia is a mobile company which once ruled the industry, but since it failed to realize that software field must be updated,it has lost its dominant position. But bitcoin is a digital currency and it has been designed by satoshi with all requirements needed to survive in the market.

It does need some updates like increasing block size and segwit activation has been done by the core team. Also,we could not see any big altcoin competitor to replace bitcoin and all altcoin prices solely rely on bitcoin price increase and decrease.
We could see big financial firms like CME entering the bitcoin market by releasing bitcoin futures and soon after that, thousands of new accounts in coinbase which shows that bitcoin is marching in positive track. Also, china has lost its dominance over bitcoin market and the only big threat has gone.

More probability is that after ten years, bitcoin price would go unimaginably high turning the fortunes of thousands of people bright.

Im sure that bitcoin will not end up the same way as nokia. Bitcoin was already established and on the processes of development and advancement. To make bitcoin fail, new technology must be developed yo replaced it. But its hard to compete with tge technology behind bitcoin. Until there is no new one coming, people will continue to support. Once people were attracted there is ni way its value will not increase, it will also lead to development. Features such as low transaction fee and fast transaction should be work out to make it mire attractive to people.

We can't really compare the fault and failure of Nokia to btc as they are different in every aspects, uses and kind.

Nokia's downfall due to the fact that they failed to bring their smartphones to transition of advancements in terms of software and hardware that's why their competitors like Iphone and Samsung beat them in marketing strategy and up sales, They adapt they phones in android innovative varieties. Who failed? its the owner and the marketing strategist of Nokia.

Now to the comparison to bitcoin, they have both their own competitors and both leading in their fields (Nokia in the past) but the ultimate difference for the both of them is the one who decide and control. Nokia have a owners and stock holders but bitcoin has no single entity owner, the decision and the price of it is based on the people who holds and mine it. It is open to the public to the point that anyone can make their own versions of fork. that's why bitcoin is still successful its because of the minds of the community who still supports it.

Bitcoin's phenomena has struck people and investors with it's astounding potential. It's

and earning in the world of cryptocurrency. It's growth and success now might pave a way for a better
or even more upscale version of bitcoin in the future or it may very still be around reinforced and stable.

Its the sign that bitcoin will consistently move forward and be the most popular virtual currency in the planet. As the majority expects for progress of btc. Bitcoin will increase even more the price is now around 7.3k dollars i think it will go over 50k in my opinion. Bitcoin is getting higher and higher and it got the support now from many people.

Famous people are also saying that bitcoin is a unstoppable monster. The owner of mcafee is also believing in bitcoins i think he has already invested in it. Bitcoin will be also used by many people in the world after 10 years.

I do agree with you. Based on what you have stated above which is the bitcoin price will increase from 7.3k US dollars to 50k US dollars, it is really possible because this time the bitcoin price is keep on increasing and we never know if after 10 years, 50k US dollars would be achieved. It is an advantage for us to have earnings in bitcoin.

You can't really compare a financial paradigm shifting technology with a company that was on par with other similar companies offering a service/phone.

I recon it'll be around in 50 years from now even if it is hardly recognizable from today's perspective.

Same with mine too.I have high hopes in bitcoin that it will definitely reach $50k in due time. And in ten years it's already close to its possibility.Bitcoin will still have its fluctuations but it is more on increasing its price just like the current happenings now.So i really don't have much worries today because i truly entrust my future into bitcoin even if others would contradict me.

It will surely be more exoensive than its current value since its price in the market is continuously increasing. Also, it might be used by most of the people by that time since as f this moment, more countries are making Bitcoin together with other cryptocurrencies, legal. And maybe it will also make Bitcoin less volatile in the future.

Nokia owner has did the wrong step with underestimate android OS and too confident with their OP symbian because they thought Symbian as the most famous operating system will never replacement by another OS but maybe this is will happened too with bitcoin if there is new coin which have more good from technology side and able to surpassing bitcoin i think might be bitcoin eventually will be replaced by another coin and lack of demand so the future will be hard to predictable but this is possible to happened that bitcoin will be worthless someday

The inability of bitcoin to upgrade scares me. Nokia disappeared from the market because it was unable to timely modernize and compete with other manufacturers. If the miners do not learn to negotiate with developers and users that bitcoin can suffer the same fate. Not without consequences is divided into parts.

10 years from now maybe bitcoins price is so much higher than today's price like no one could ever imagine that bitcoins starting price can't even buy an iphone. And for me nothing can replaced bitcoin on top, because it already made a big name on cryptocurrencies and it is not that easy to replace it.

The history of nokia is a different case it dies because of the introduction of much better technology of cellular phone and the problem is that nokia wasn't able to compete. What was bitcoin today will still be the same even after a decade because unlike phones who depreciate as time passes by, bitcoin appreciate and get even valuable. We see there's a lot of alternative coins in the market but bitcoin remain on the top.

On one of the two possible places:
1. Valued over 100k$, widely used, low fees, transaction confirmed in seconds
2. Historically known as largest crash in last 10 years, eventually replaced by some other more advanced coin.
At the rate Bitcoin has been going up in value in the past years, that $100k can be reached in 2 years already.
Of course, that's pure speculation, and given Bitcoin's track record it's very likely to crash hard at least several times.

I doubt a "more advanced coin" will have an edge over Bitcoin: in the end, all you need is to be able to make a simple payment. Smart contracts and all that are solutions for problems that don't exist.

Meanwhile I've set my plan: I sell a bit when the price goes up, I don't sell when it goes down. So far, everything I ever sold would have been worth more now, but at least this gives me some piece of mind if the price drops hard (again).
And since I only sell a small percentage at most, I won't be out of Bitcoins if it reaches a very high value.

I just hope Bitcoin will finally be able to scale up, so it can handle much more transactions, much more users, and with very low fees again. Currently fees are about 50 times higher than my bank charges. That may seem small compared to the price increase, but it's all money lost through miners to power companies and hardware manufacturers.

On a side note, I'm afraid Bitcoin forks are the new monthly hype now. After altcoins (shitcoins) and ICOs, we'll now have to keep splitting our coins on multiple chains

The average fees has always been around 0.001 for most of the transactions
When I joined this forum in 2015, I could make fast transactions with 0.01mBTC fee, and even zero-fee transactions (with Medium priority and aged coins) were fast.
Since then, fees went up 100-fold in Bitcoin and 3000-fold in dollars.

I don't think that there will be anything against the bitcoin that will get the place of the bitcoin where the bitcoin is at the present time . Because it is not a simple thing for any coin to make place in the market and make that coin as a main part of the use in the every most probable trade .
Here currently the people who entered in this field , first know about the bitcoin only because they know that people have trust and also people are making use mostly in the public place also ( you can see in many countries ) .
So here we can understand how the value and demand is going increasing for the bitcoin , but still here i know very well that if any coin named another then that coin will be the part of bitcoin blockchain technology , Because no one team except bitcoin team can give better technology coin .
So future of the bitcoin is much bright for the bitcoin and also you can understand well that what will be the future of the bitcoin after 10 to 100 years .

So will BTC be anywhere 10 years from now?

In the list of the most safe-haven assets. It is not just gaining because of its properties but the big number of users making record highs in terms of daily sign ups where an exchange recorded a 100k users' registration in just a day shows how eager have people become to just invest in Bitcoins. I believe they should first learn about the cryptocurrency because half-knowledge is dangerous to the health of their portfolio.

Quote
or would it have been replaced for something better and more inovative?

Could be possible, or couldn't. There are already many coins that I believe, have much better properties and characteristics than Bitcoins but if they were not so capable of attracting the investors' base during these voluptuous 8 years of Bitcoins, then nothing could beat it in the next 10 years too.

I like to hear all the things that are optimistic, with the Bitcoin price charts always on the rise, we are optimistic that 10 years from now Bitcoin will surely progress more than what's imagine right now, and Bitcoin will always improve.

Not sure exactly where it will be but this time in history will go down as either the most revolutionary time in finance in the last 500 years or the time that everybody thought finance would change for the better in the last 500 years. Obviously, that will always be Bitcoin. People have no interest in any other crypto currency aside from speculation purposes. We have seen enough coins pop up, and none of them have made anything change in that regard, not even Ethereum. Ethereum is only hyped and pumped due to its connection to ICO's, but now ICO's are slowly but surely facing more and more governmental resistance, Ethereum's main source of growth will be cut off. It's maybe not much of a good thing to see happen if you're an Ethereum fan boy, but it is what it is....

I know 10 years doesn't seem that far away, but with the way things are going and the way the price is performing in regards to market demand BTC doesn't look like it'll be slowing down much any more. The interesting thing is that there are altcoins that are more innovative and probably much more useful than Bitcoin. However, Bitcoin had a big head start and has the name recognition. Now the supply of Bitcoins is drying up so the demand is increasing. Even though the fees are high and the transaction times are getting longer, Bitcoin is probably going to be a store of value that will hold it’s value. I think some altcoins will gain ground in market cap and may even pass Bitcoin in the future, but I think Bitcoin will always have value.

Bitcoin would be worth 100k 50k 30k or 5k(5k when other crypto will be placed on the first place like ETH or something else).
Bitcoin probably will be worthless because huge banks will create their own decentralized network/coins etc. The whole hi-tech and fintech projects grow very fast, maybe we will have something much better than bitcoin? Have you ever consider such scenerio? Then the best way would be taking profit soon.

There are 2 conditions that I know will happen in the next 10 years.
1. If people are continuing to advertise about bitcoin and if more and more people will be interested in bitcoin, the price of bitcoin will be higher and therefore it will be more popular than now.
2. If ALL people stopped using bitcoin, then there will be a chance that bitcoin will be not as popular as now.
3. If the altcoins will be more popular than the bitcoin, then there will be a chance that the alt coins will replace bitcoin at the top and bitcoin will be not as popular as now.
I think that are the 3 things that might happen in the next 10 years.

The possibilty of BTC to become a more succesful digital currency is huge. By that time majority of the Merchants, local and international businesses are accepting BTC, and the value will rise to the moon. If we notice the growth of its value this year was crazy, how much more in the upcoming years. Yet, there's always a slight possibilty that something better will replace BTC, Because there are numbers of teams who wants to catch up with BTC.

Now more people are beginning to use bitcoins because of the recent price changes from 5k to 7k this will surely help bitcoin to forth in his path. If bitcoin ever hits 50k many people will go to other coins, because bitcoin will then be too expensive.

Probably will be replaced by a better technology that can really handle a global market, a technology with smart contracts. Ethereum could be but is not fast enough, maybe something else, anw bitcoin with PoW system It doesn't have any future.

Two events may happen, one would be fully develop bitcoin system and the other would be the existence of more advance crypto technology. Bitcoins future would depend on people support and demand, once bitcoin have gain popularity and demand, it would possibly cintinue the track of good future. Currently, we are seeing success because its becoming more accepted and recognized by increasing number of people. On the other hand, bitcoin once not developed will fail and may crash. In the coming years, we could expect new technologies will be developed and once bitcoin does not compete with the demand, it will surely lose its track.

Yeah true, never go back to 0 the value of bitcoin. For me the bitcoin price is going to the moon, we know the potencial of bitcoin. Yes it is not stable price, it is have a posible to bit the Gold, someday expect the price raise 50k$ after 10 years .

We can never be sure of what's going to happen with bitcoin but as far as I know it will continue to reign even after 10 years from now. This is based on what most people forecast about this bitcoin. Just imagine what bitcoin achieve right now and it is not yet well known by most people in my country so a lot will going to happen as the days goes by. As long as a lot of people are still holding and supporting this platform then we can have atleast the assurance of what bitcoin will be like in the coming days.

It's hard to say, btc can up 20,000 - 50,000$, or they can find another alt of money and lose any interest to bitcoin and other crypto. Anyway time will show!
Time obviously will be the one to tell us all if we are correct or not. However, looking at the situation of things, some underground news I am hearing right now (though I will prefer to keep them to myself) and some activities that are speculated to happen in the next few months / early next year, I really see bitcoin hitting around $25,000 in the next 6 months. You can quote me after then to see if I am wrong or not, unless something negative happens to drag us back.

It is hard to predict about anything 10 years form now because its just not possible to consider al the facts and changes that might be made in the world itself. It could happen that currencies might just vanish fro the earth of the face or it could be the case that bitcoin may dominate the world and lead all the local and digital currencies for the first time in the future history of the earth. Anything can happen but we can just guess it in first place for the hundred facts that may change during the course of 10 years time.

It is a scary thought process ,the only possibility is that the technology from which it is build comes crashing down and if a super computer is created now which could break the encryption it has,but these networks evolve with technology but implementation is a hard process from the experience i have with bitcoin ,it is really difficult to predict what the future holds for bitcoin, but i assume it will keep on growing if the scaling issues are solved .

That would be still very ambiguous to speculate so soon. Anything can happen in the crypto market. A ban can occur throughout the world over the crypto currencies in next 6 months then what would you say about the prices? They could be next to 0 I believe. But lets assume that nothing like that happens and it keeps growing like today then also it could just reach the prices of 20K max. The reason is simple, the market cap of the bitcoin is insufficient to reach the rate of 20K at this point or even in next 6 months. It will at least need another whole year to reach that alarming rate and then you can quote my post to if I'm wrong or right.

I think no one can really say what will happen in the future it may be good or bad. But for us users we expect a good and successful future for bitcoin. Nothing is certain for sure, that is why we must be ready for anything that might happen. We must always have a back up plan.

Its very hard to think for the future when presently we are facing such a big crisis, in fact right now we are aware of the fact that people are moving towards bitcoin cash and selling out their bitcoins, thus we aren't even sure if bitcoins will survive this crisis and emerge as it was before or better than before.
In fact when CME announced bitcoins future everyone had a hope that the price will increase 10 folds.. but now they might want to review their strategy also they are already waiting for the approval, thus if everything went well we soon will be able to see a very high price.
And if that happens bitcoins will dominante the future  cryptocurrency market.

although we know the development of bitcoin so quickly but to reach $ 25k in the next 6 months it seems too far away to have such predictions. maybe for the next 10 years bitcoin prices can reach that level.
various possibilities can happen to bitcoin but let's always think positive about bitcoin which has so far contributed so much to all its users.

Yup! As it is the world of digital currencies so we all known  that due to excess of competition between the various available virtual currencies either in terms of price for the customer flow, no crypto could actually stand a test of time and has a possibility to eradicate completely from the map at once.

So all we can do is to keep the thing in our minds that Btcs could vanish completely in the next 10 years so we should have some backup for earning the livelihood instead of just relying on the proficiency of these coins.

I like your example about Nokia phone.I am one of the person belongs to the generation of using both black and white display phones and android smart phones. In the past Nokia in a great place but today no demand.Who knows a new coin will take place the Bitcoin position.
In case of nokia, they stopped making android phones so the demand of nokia decreased with time but still people demand for it. Samsung is also a mobile company  from the time of black and white phones but still make the best smart phones.

In case of bitcoin it can't be replaced easily by any other currency but rather it is replacing paper money slowly and gradually. I think it will become more developed and costly over time.

He probably means that bitcoin will become major currency for the entire nations in the planet. not just cryptocurrency world, as for now, bitcoin's adopters still far below what needed to be a major currency.
But by the growing of the technology, it's not impossible that bitcoin could just get so many adopters within 5 years. Bitcoin only need few years to reach this high rate of price and brings so many adopters. 5 Years is such a long time for bitcoin to develop its community and its value.

I think bitcoins will atill be the monster they become in the cryptocurrency business. Because on what I see on their performance today a lot of people wants them even the businessmen and their companies are having them. So I know that after 10 years they will be more popular than today and their value is tremendously expensive like times give from what it is today. And I know that it will be accepted as a mode of payment by all the establishment in the country if they do not banned it. But I know bitcoins can be used in daily life 10 years from know.

Whole world will use this coin after ten years because bitcoin is so much profiting at its start and people are rushing toward this coin at this time and if the same flow continues this coin will progress more and I think that at that time this coin will be used all over the world and the major of it is achieved that it will be used as mode of payment also.
No one know, and these who know or will have luck are winners...

i hope by this period mention i would  have own a private jet from btc investment .
We can't exactly predict where will BTC after 10 year. We can't tell anything, But will be more things happen in bitcoin in 10 years. In my opinion we will be optimistic and in the future will be reaching million of dollar per BTC. To solve our financial problems in better future.
