Title: How to know if a coin is ETH based or not?
Post by: BTC Turkiye on November 08, 2017, 08:52:01 PM
Is there a way to check quickly that if a coin is based on ETH system or BTC system?

I know if you check the wallet addresses you can tell by if it starts with x0 or 1 but is there any other way? like how can I see on this website that if their coin is ETH based or not?

Yeah I think this was pretty useful. I could just add the name of the coin there and it shows if it`s eth based or not.
Thank you

You can check whether the coin is ERC-20, if it's ERC-20 then it's based on ethereum.
You can also visit ethplorer.io and etherscan.io , to check about the coin.

It's not,

you can see about the facts of elastic.

Quote
Elastic Coin is known as XEL
Total Coin Supply: 100.000.000 XEL
Distributed Coins: 100.000.000 XEL
Elastic features the “Elastic PL” programming language
Normal nodes broadcast unverified POW/bounties
Super nodes verify work and broadcast verified POW/bounties
Guard nodes cross verify certain percentages of signed POW/bounties by supernodes to detect malicious behaviour

Because they are using their own nodes and built their own network and it can't be considered as the ERC20 token. As the competitor for the golem project and they are try to using their own network to give the more capability to manage their own project.

basically ERC20 token will be used the ethereum nodes to broadcast the transaction.

When a coin is based on ERC-20, they are very likely to drop in value within their first year of releasing the product.

As I check and found ethplorer.io is the best way to check that a coin based on ETH. We can say ERC-20 compatible.

You can search all the Eth based tokens here: https://etherscan.io/tokens

Also, on coinmarketcap when you search for a cryptocurrency it shows on the left if it's a coin or a token.

A simple google search of visit to the website of the coin should be able to tell if the tokens are erc20 compliant or not. Other way is to go to etherscam dot com and search the coin there.

It is very easy to look released coins to understand if its ether based as other said.
But its somekinda hard to understand if new ico is going to release ether token. You should read more whitepapers! They are too much work but legit.

Usually whitepapers on the website tells us if its an Ethereum based coin, but yes ethplorer.io and etherscan.io will be able to tell you also!
