Title: Can CM v1000 PSU power 2x 290 and 1x 7990
Post by: killerelite on November 09, 2017, 12:26:12 AM
I got 2x 290 and 1x 7990 and a cm v1000 psu , 2nd gen g630 + board that can support these cards +hard disk etc
Will these cards run fine at stock voltages and settings or will my setup require more power
1 more thing there will be around 6 120 mm fans also in the closed rig
and also will it be better to use 1-2 the cards without risers or all cards on risers
ambient temperature around here is ranging from 14-22 degrees and its only gonna get colder later on .
Electricity is included in rent  (within limits )

This should be enough.

if you're in closed case rig you might not need a riser, other than the 3rd GPU, its your own taste and design, either way it should work fine.

this would be advantageous on your part.

Actually, it probably will NOT work.

7990 was a DUAL GPU card - at ballpark 250 EACH.
R9 290 pulls 300 watts commonly EACH - but that's with a BIOS update from TheStilt and pushing the card for highest hashrate.

Even at STOCK TDP the cards ALONE are going to pull close to 1000 watts leaving NOTHING to run the rest of the system on.

I would not consider anything less than a Seasonic X1250 or EVGA G2 1300 for a rig with those cards in it, and even THOSE power supplies aren't going to have a LOT of headroom for overclocking.

Running the cards on risers will help a LOT on keeping them .... coolish.

I confirm, I will NOT work

I have a 3*R9 290 and 1*RX 580 rig, and I had to use a 1700W PSU

1000W is not enough, for sure

I stand corrected, 7990 consumes half of 1kw power

Of course, your current setup will require more than 1000w power. didn't carefully notice that 7990 monstrous power hunger.

I am running 2x7990 and 1x290 on a 1000w PSU (Corsair HX1000) without any issues. Pulling out 1400 H/s ZEC on that rig.

You have them majorly downclocked and TDP lowered for that setup to work AT ALL on any 1000w power supply.
