Post by: shark88 on November 09, 2017, 08:08:12 AM
What does pump and dump mean?
Who do this?
Is it scam or profitable?

They are schemes refer to cryptocurrency launches in which the development team hypes the currency to pump up its price, sells all their holdings immediately after, and disappear with their money.if they disappear,it can be term  a scam in my opinion.

Pump is the investment of big guys in collaboration with the development team, the project is listed on exchange and make it seems legible. After individual investors come in to buy the coins, the development team will dump the coins, sell all their investment and the coins become worthless with low volume of trading. Now the exchanges start delisting the coins.

Just want to add that the devs aren't always reasonable for this. Big whales group up in channels from telegram or discor (for example) and determine when they will buy and sell. This causes high volatilaty and big profits for Trader.

Most P&D coins have a very low marketcap, try to avoid.

There are many ways that this happen.
1. Whales can manipulate the price in small cap coins, whales are groups of people who buy or sell all at the same time.
2. People sell out of fair, usually this happen when a known site write a bad article about a coin.
3. People sell because other people sell out of fear. When most people sell and the price go down, other people follow in order to cut losses.
4. Pumping is happening for the same reasons but opposite this time.

It means that a certain group is manipulating the price
they are pumping the price to go high, to make profit
this has been here since the start making an ordinary coin
extra ordinary on the new investors who dont know what their doing
dumping means that once the price of the coin is so high and your late and bought a lot in that price
and they see they already got the profit they are going to sell the coins they have and as a result the trading coin price will go down
and those who bought it are gonna loose lots of cash so be aware and do your homework
