Title: Why bitcoin transaction fee keeps increasing?
Post by: akram143 on November 09, 2017, 09:47:23 AM
Hi guys,i just wanna knows that why the transaction fee for bitcoins is increasing everyday. Some days before i send bitcoin to a trader the fee was 0.0005btc but yesterday i repeat the same transaction same amount then the fee was 0.0006 btc.

Please correct me if i am posted in wrong section. :)

What's does it mean "the same transaction"? If you're referring to the amount being sent then this has nothing to do with the fees. It's the transaction size that make the fees bigger.

I think the factor why the transactions fee is changing its value is it because of the money that has been transact in a period of time because if you will transact a large amount of money the fee is high too and vice versa.

It's also that most likely the network is more congested today than it was yesterday. $4.5 billion have been transacted in the last 24 hours, double than before.

I took it to mean the same transaction size. The typical user has one input and two outputs per transaction = 223 - 226 bytes. Services, on average, have larger transactions. But I'll let the OP confirm...

I'm assuming you meant "all else equal" when you say the same transaction. The reason is network congestion. Higher demand for transactions with limited block space = higher fees.

What I think is really happening: Bitmain is spamming the network in an effort to promote Bcash.

Probably not only that, but it all depends on the nominal amount you send, if the nominal amount you send is larger, maybe it will be the appropriate transaction fee you send, and I think it's very reasonable.

What's does it signify "a similar exchange"? In case you're alluding to the sum being sent then this has nothing to do with the expenses. It's the exchange measure that make the charges greater.

I have never experienced it, and I think it may be because of the large amount of value or it's because of the different transaction destination factors from one market to another, and the amount is quite large for transaction costs.

Because the value of bitoin is totally increasing and many people used this so that's why the fees is increasing they want to get a good money like us and there's a lot of exchanges that will appears that have a high fees.

The Pump on bitcoin is way crazier right now that is why you are getting a much higher fee from time to time, and as of today the price is pretty getting low right now and maybe your transaction fee do the same, we all do have something in common actually all of us have the same situation, the price right now is fluctuating much that is why you are getting different fees.

I think two reasons might met your
It may be due to the increase of Bitcoin rate, the trader might start charging a higher amounts of transaction fees.

It also might happen on basing the hight amount of Bitcoin you try to transfer so there is a high transaction fees and vice-versa.
Before you also make a trade be aware of knowing their transactions fees instead you blindly make a trade.

The more and more unconfirmed transactions on the blockchain network the higher fee would be needed for you to send in regular confirmation time. check blockchain.info and bitcoinfees21.co to see how much would you spend on fees and how long would it take. i would prefer to use blockchain's wallet because you can customize your fee.

It depends what the distribution of fee rates is. The reason the congestion is so bad right now is that a spammer is creating bottlenecks at multiple fee tiers. The fee distribution is making things considerably worse than under normal circumstances.

Normally, when the network isn't getting spammed too hard, the vast majority of unconfirmed transactions will be in the 1-5 satoshi/byte fee range. Now about 1/3 of unconfirmed transactions are in the 20-100 satoshi/byte range, with a bottleneck at 80-100. This is a dedicated spam attack. It's gotta be Bitmain.

due to many hard fork information, there are too many transactions are going on and started the congestion. thus higher fees. you can always set a same low fee, if you are willing to wait.

Because many people use bitcoin for transactions and demand in market already up.
If we do high value transactions, the transactions fee already high also.

It just means that there is no fixed transfer fees that service providers are charging to the users and it is flexible from day to day. This has been one of the most important realities that we have to face as far as dealing with Bitcoin is concerned. Bitcoin is still evolving and we are all waiting for the time when the transaction cost can be lowered down because this is not what Bitcoin is supposed to be, that is if we want to Bitcoin to be adopted by the mainstream population and big merchants all over the world. We can never continue on dreaming that Bitcoin can be bigger and bigger and yet at the same time there is no reliable and cost-efficient infrastructure backing up that big dream.

Well mate the explanation is just as easy if you learn the so-called common sense. Why? Because if you would imagine bitcpin keeps on increasing and we can't control that on and as well as the transaction it will be inevitable too to control. Hope you do understand now.

simply because the block size is limited and that means it can only contain a limited number of transactions. it doesn't matter how much it is, as long as it is limited the same issue will happen if not today it will happen tomorrow.

there are times like when price is rising fast, and media attention is increased so new people are investing, that people make more transactions than normal which is why there will be more transactions than there is space and that creates a competition which you can only win by paying higher fee.

Title: Re: Why bitcoin transaction fee keeps increasing?

The block size is an factor and next to that is the power consumption for each transaction. This has been increasing time to time and the same gets reflected on the transaction fee of each transaction. Compared to the past the price has grown bigger and the same too will contribute to the transaction fee increase. Anyhow the transaction getting stuck to the network has decreased a lot.

Move to another wallet or minimize the number of your transactions if you don't plan to change the wallet. The coming fork promissed to cut the size of fees, but now it is paused and we will need to wait for some other decidion about the transaction fees.

At present, the Bitcoin network is congested with a large number of transactions and the bitcoin price increases, of course, will cause transaction costs to increase.

There are some cases in which miners are only opting for transactions that have high fees in them to include in their blocks. This is still evidently happening up to now since the price of bitcoin has been skyrocketing lately, and one way for miners to take advantage of the situation is to purposely include all high tx fees.

simply because the block size is limited and that means it can only contain a limited number of transactions. it doesn't matter how much it is, as long as it is limited the same issue will happen if not today it will happen tomorrow.

Block size has nothing to do with the transaction fees. Blindly saying that a limited blocksize causes all these soaring tx fees is nonsense since miners can only opt to receive high fee tx and forget about those which contains low fees.

Probably in terms of dollar value increases as bitcoin prices continue to rise but in units of bitcoin I see the rise for transactions is not too high. this is affected by the already expensive bitcoin price

The "blockchain" is a race by miners to write the next block. A block contains transactions. You can have your transaction prioritized by giving a higher fee, because it will contribute to a higher fee reward to the miner who writes the block.

Since most people use bitcoin like gold, they are sending several thousand dollars, sometimes millions at a time in a single transaction. To them, $2.50 is a trivial amount to pay to have their transaction go through.

After a failed attempt to take over Bitcoin from the other camp, some people might be spamming the BTC network now to

strengthen their claims that SegWit is not the scaling solution for Bitcoin. They are moving to Bitcoin Cash now, and one of

the main "advantages" of using Bitcoin Cash, is the relative low transaction volume and fast confirmation times. So you spam

BTC to slow down the confirmation times and then hype Bitcoin Cash.  ::)

An innocent user will say fees is increasing due to rise in number of transactions which created network congestion. Due to network congestion, you need to pay higher fees than others so your transaction confirms earlier than them. A typical Market Demand Curve.
But the real cause is always the evil from miners. Due to long scalability debate, miners are now divided in different groups and supporting different scalability  solutions, thus different coins. As a result, they keep degrading Bitcoin ecosystem so to boost up their supported coins.

Move to another wallet or minimize the number of your transactions if you don't plan to change the wallet.
It makes no sense to suggest something like this when you take into consideration that every wallet is opting, or at least recommending to use a certain fee that at that point is based on the network condition. One day the right fee might be 0.0008BTC, where a day or two later 0.0003BTC might be a sufficient enough fee. It's network based, not wallet based.

The coming fork promissed to cut the size of fees, but now it is paused and we will need to wait for some other decidion about the transaction fees.
S2X is a malicious fork, which for a very good reason has been put to a stop, at least for now. If you really think that this fork (if initiated) would result in lower fees, you are too easy of believe. Currently we could already work with lower fees if Segwit starts being fully utilized, but that will likely take some time.

I don't agree. Miners can select only high fee transactions to include in a block BECAUSE there is currently - let me check - 26700 unconfirmed transactions waiting in a queue. If the block size were bigger, the blocks would include more transactions each time, the queue would disappear with time,  and eventually even low fee transactions would be included, because not including them would be simply a loss of that (small) money for a miner.

I think it's natural because nowadays more and more enthusiasts will be bitcoin and the higher bitcoin value. hence there is an increase in cost and may be you transact during solid time so you are exposed to additional charges that you do not know.

Because Bitcoin cannot be used by more people. All you can do is outbid other Bitcoiner. If your not fine with few dollar transaction fee, Bitcoin is not for you. The problem is solved with Bitcoin Cash because of increased capacity more people can use it, thats why smaller fees. If you had Bitcoins on Aug 1, 2017 you own corresponding amount of Bitcoin Cash. Bitcoin Cash has good community support, several developer teams and different business starting accepting it rapidly like in Bitcoin early years, no wonder its 3rd most valuable coin by market cap now.

It depends on the value you send and the value of bitcoin. I think the reason why is that bitcoin's value is so volatile that the transactions fee are changing. But most of it is mostly because you enter either bigger amount or smaller amount. Also big factor is how the network in the blockchain affect the prices.

The fees are actually paid for the security and guarantee of transaction to the miners to complete transaction. This is observed that with growing price the fees is also increasing,
But Thier a way out you can use a wallet bnamed ' mycelium' , this wallet has an option to select transaction fees starting from $0 ( in a bold transaction may never happen) to $11 depending on the amount to be transferred.
People usually select  $0.30 as transaction fees .

When bitcoin was new the fees were actually lower than today. I think they will increase so people need to pay a lot more fees for transactions. This is actually bad because i want my money xD.

I think back in the day the fee was just 1k satoshi, but I am not sure.

That is a normal thing, the fee for each btc transaction is not fixed at the amount ,  it is it is converted by a rate with btc price. Therefore, as btc prices increase, fees will also increase. You should not be too surprised. as far as I know it is.

As you may have heard there is capacity limit for the bitcoin network - one block size is max 1Mb which means 7 transactions per second. Since there are more transactions now then the capacity - the price (miners fee) is logically going up.

Whenever a bitcoin bank has a lot of unconfirmed or unsent transactions that will make a very long queue of people waiting for their money to arrive and like that minors will increase the fee because the demand is very higher than the offer so minors get to set their own rules by increasing the fees .

As no of transactions is increasing, Hash rate also increases. That means Miners are getting less amount of BTC as a reward for mining. But all other factors like expenses will remain same for miners. Therefore miners charge more to keep their margin at the same level.

about the cost of transactions, which I know is that transaction costs depend on coin, more expensive and better coin, then the transaction costs will be large.
the second depends a lot and big, when you sell bitcoin with large amount then the transaction will be big.

Actually due to Bitcoin price increase then we feel his fee goes up,

1 week ago when Bitcoin price is still $ 5300 in Coinbase fee to exchange Eth To Btc about $ 2,5 then yesterday I exchange again from Eth to Btc fee about $ 5,
from I take the conclusion, the fee rises because the price of Bitcoin rises ..

Maybe what you are pertaining to is you repeated the same amount of transaction and the fees are not the same?

As far as I observe transaction fees are based on the bytes for that transaction and the bytes are being affected by the origin of the balance that you have. for example if you have 1 bitcoin and the origin of it is just from 1 address then it have smaller bytes compared to 1 bitcoin from several sources which will have more bytes needed to be solved.

I also think in that way the coinbase increased the transaction fee due to the increase in the price of bitcoin. But some guys explaining that the price increase is due to the size of the transaction increased but i don't know how the size of transaction will increase because I sent the same amount of bitcoins twice.

Here in actual the fee system is different from the normal fee system in banking sector . Here the amount of the fee for that bitcoin that you will transfer will not depend upon the price of the coin or simple Wallet system .
Here it depends upon the input and output of the transaction .
If you want to send that bitcoin( recieved from single person ) to a single person then you will be charged less , but the same amount of bitcoin that you recieved many people and want to send another person then surely the fee will be high for you ( Because you received from many persons ) .
Hope you understand the technology of the fee system in the blockchain.

In my own thinks that coinbase is increase there transaction fee,due to the value of btc in the market is still increasing and every transaction of bitcoin have a counterpart value in terms of changing or trading that's depend on the platform site's you trade.

I thought i am the only one who is worried about the fees but reading these threads i see much of the bitcoin community  Probably as bitcoin is growing so the fee is also keep increasing with bitcoins. I think the reason is its Value. There's a lot of people who use the bitcoin for small transaction are more worried about the fee.
I hope bitcoin community will come up with some solution. Maybe they need a hard fork to solve this issue of high fee.

There are many reasons, people are currently using bitcoin for transactions. Bitcoin demand is increasing in the market, it is becoming popular with everyone. Now we are trading at a higher rate, the recent transaction volume has reached high.
Because of the large amount of value.

bitcoin fee is not increased. i think it is increased because you convert it to USD.
if bitcoin value in USD increased, then the fee will increased too. for now i think bitcoin fee is cheaper because bitcoin is not high as that time

It also might happen on basing the hight amount of Bitcoin you try to transfer so there is a high transaction fees and vice-versa.
Before you also make a trade be aware of knowing their transactions fees instead you blindly make a trade.

it depends on the tx size and the amount of transactions on blockchain given day. If there are too many other users sending bitcoin, you will very likely end up paying more in tx fee

Bitcoin fees is independent of transaction amount. There are other factors involved like how many other transactions are happening at that time.

The bitcoins transaction fee does not depend only on the amount you are transferring. It also depends on the congestion at that moment, in other words, the number of transactions happening at a time.

According to me the rapid rise in the transaction fee of the bitcoin is due to the lack of regulation because there is no such proper regulating body over BTC , there are few set of people which regulates the transaction fee and may be they are rising it so could overcome some sort of losses they suffered due to deflation in the valuation of bitcoin and according to me things will go right when there will be some authorized regulating body over it and this could be only possible with centralization of bitcoin and this will also be possible when more and more people will unnderstand the fate and potential of bitcoin.

The increase in the transaction price depends on the chain of congestion.
The appearance of the sigwit was a very unloaded chain, this can be observed for the last time.

Bitcoin fees depends mainly on the network congestion, in simple words how many other transactions are happening currently. When bitcoins was at its peak , $20000, the transactions took hours because of this reason only.

Not increasing everyday, Its just like politics or auctions, So if you need to fast your transaction you need to select a higher fee. Like politics so if you need to win (Transacted bitcoin) the situation you need money to pay them to voted you. And also the auction, If you want to get the item (Transacted bitcoin) you need to bid a higher the most of us to get that. For me that's why bitcoin need to increased the transaction fee and also because of the traffic on the blockchain. A lot of transacted bitcoin for smallest fees.

I think it is because of the many transaction on the blockchain
I think that is the direct cause and you are right. But you may ask why is the high number of transactions a problem (wasn't bitcoin designed to handle that?) and why do we have an increased number of transactions.

The first answer is that Bitcoin is unfortunately not designed to handle the current transaction throughput. In those early days indeed it was used as electronic means of payment, number of services accepting it increased every day and Bitcoin flourished. But then, as everything, it became obsolete and it was not capable to handle all incoming transactions. For some reasons that escape me, the developers behind it wouldn't yield to accept any change nor improvement and currently we have Bitcoin which is crippled and it really concerns me very much.

As to the second question, we have an increased number of transactions because the Bitcoin price went up a bit. And it will be happening again and again in the future. Now, imagine the transaction fees when the prices goes up hugely! After the very high tx fees in December last year (in the range of 80-100USD per transaction) we observed calm moments in the beginning of this year and everybody went on thinking that if they don't see a problem, there is no problem. Just like an ostrich with its head in the sand. Well, wake up call, devs!

It is because of the demand from the people because the user of bitcoin is getting bigger and bigger and that caused the network to have a slower speed of transactions and the miners adjusted it by taking advantage of having more crowd and they raise the fee for the transactions into a higher rate so they can be profitable. It is just simple law of supply and demand.

its because the user of bitcoin is increasing too, the users of bitcoin that want to send their bitcoin want to makes the bitcoin is sent in a fast time, so the sender is increasing the fee because become a priority in the queue, and i think if the fee of bitcoin high it will makes us happy, why? because if the fee of the bitcoin high its mean that bitcoin is popular and there are many people that use bitcoin, and the effect is bitcoin price will stable and maybe increasing

I think with increasing mining difficulty to mine Bitcoin, the fees to move Bitcoins around the network increases. Furthermore the market price of Bitcoin will also contribute to the transactions fees. I have noticed that as the price of Bitcoins go up the fees increases which makes complete sense. This is one reason that I use Litcoin to transfer "wealth" around the cryptosphere.

To put it in simple terms and it's already been mentioned here, it's the miner's fee that controls our fees when sending BTC.
You want the luxury of sending BTC, then you gotta pay those miners what they ask.

Price of Bitcoin changes from time to time as well, when BTC dropped its value transaction become also lesser, because exchange and wallets have a computer system that calculates everything as long as it was programmed on them, so they adjust when there are movements on the BTC price, isn't it amazing?

I think because the bitcoin is increasing that's why the transaction fees also increasing. And every transaction fee is depends on how much you sent to transact. If you sent big amount of bitcoin of course you need to fee also little big for the transaction.

The main factor in increasing the fee is because Bitcoin is hard to mined. And it can not be denied that Bitcoin Mining is always on the rise. And we can not avoid the problem of the fee increase.

Also for the current price

Well it is the chance for transaction platforms to take advantage of the growing number of people who performs trading and uses their platforms. I also guess that it is because of the increasing price of bitcoin.  Everything seems in sync with bitcoin if you will notice it.

For us,  traders,  this growing fee is becoming a pain in the ass but we can't blame them if they increased their fees.  Just like us,  they also want to gain profit anyway.

I think for that thing is there are reasons why that thing might happen in our bitcoin society and this is because for interms of demand of the people here in bitcoin. Well mate the explanation is just as easy if you learn the so-called common sense. Why? Because if you would imagine bitcpin keeps on increasing and we can't control that on and as well as the transaction it will be inevitable too to control. Hope you do understand now.

Bitcoin fees are increasing due to large number of participants in bitcoin talk and forum many now investors  many also traders  many also sellers  uncontrollable undertermined personalities using this sites meaning many are interested in bitcoin currency.

i know that the transaction fee right now is high, its caused by the people that want to send the bitcoin is too much thats makes a queue in transactiion, in bitcoin we know that if the fee is high your transaction will be in priority queue, so if you want to send it faster you can set the fee is in the high and if you want to slower you can decrease the fee

Even in some other exchanges like c-cex giving a fee about 0.002 Btc or $20 for each transaction is a very expensive fee, you know everyday the user keeps growing and it makes the network become more crowded, so it will take more time to get confirmation if only using low fees, that's why transaction fees are getting expensive

The number of users keep on rising. And along with that, the number of transactions per day also shows an upswing with every passing month. But the problem is that the block size is fixed at 1 MB and it stays constant. In the near future, the scaling issues will resurface once again and the transaction fee will hit a new high.

This has been increasing time to time and the same gets reflected on the transaction fee of each transaction. Compared to the past the price has grown bigger and the same too will contribute to the transaction fee increase. Anyhow the transaction getting stuck to the network has decreased a lot

Because of the supply of bitcoin is always decreasing, the difficulty of mining bitcoin is harder.
So the fee of bitcoin transferring will be higher day by day.
But as long as the price of bitcoin is keep rising, the fee is equivalent to the price for me

The price of bitcoin went x10 but the transaction fees STAYED AROUND THE SAME in btc prices (whereas if they were priced in USD, it should been divided by 10).

Basically, by not adjusting the fee to the USD value and staying with the BTC value, the fee ALSO went x10 (just like bitcoin's price).

Who is to blame for this?

Is it major companies/exchanges who probably have hardcoded 200-400 sat/B in their code even though the price blew up?

Like this "hard-coding" I know is a major problem with Bittrex... they haven't changed their 0.001 BTC withdrawal fee from when bitcoin wasn't this high priced yet, making it a ridiculous $16 per transaction (when it used to be like $1).

And I think the network congestion is from these exchanges as well. I think someone needs to let them know that their hard-coded fee schedule, set to SPECIFIC sat/B values instead of USD, is the major thing making the fees impossible for everyone else right now.

As I have heard the payments being given was due to the complexity of the computations which uses more power and therefore consumes more electricity. And as I have known the lesser the value of the remaining coins in the block chain the more difficult or complex will be the processes so this makes it time consuming as well so that payments go up.

Base on my knowledge bitcoin transaction doesn't have any fees before or not that I know of. But then as what you've mention that because of its demand and yes I agree with that and for me its better to have fees as well because this will serve as maintainance and all other that needs to be maintaned.

If we compared the transaction fee last year 2017 which is experienced more than $20 fee every single transaction you made what ever how much you send it's totally same fee. But Im very thankful and happy now because the transaction fee is lower $1 and this very helpful to us who are earning a little profit because if we spend $20 this is not good to them.

I might agree with the word "demand" but with your supporting words aren't. Mostly bitcoin transaction increased/decreased base on the congestion in the network, but in these days it only requires a small amount of fee (4/sat per byte) where you can send and can be confirmed within the next block so no need to worry about stucked transactions.

Base on my knowledge bitcoin transaction doesn't have any fees before or not that I know of. Well, your knowledge is not concrete as you agree in the quoted post. And what maintenance are you talking about? if you're referring exchanges, well mostly, exchanges get profit when users buy and sell on their platform, and might be not when sending/withdrawing only from the exchange.

Bitcoin's transaction fee is still the same as Bitcoin, when Bitcoin grows up, the fee is great, when the Bitcoin is small, the fee is too small when it makes you convert, but when Bitcoin is the same fee when you go out money even small amounts or large.

I think his rise in bitcoin fees is inseparable from his rise in bitcoin prices, where his conversion will automatically be high with his fee

Well mate the explanation is just as easy if you learn the so-called common sense. Why? Because if you would imagine bitcpin keeps on increasing and we can't control that on and as well as the transaction it will be inevitable too to control. Hope you do understand now.

Increasing in transaction fee means good the demands of Bitcoins is  growing so that's it .

transaction costs continue to increase as bitcoin prices at that time also increase. I think the crypto currency market is taking advantage of the bitcoin price increase.
even though the transaction costs increase but will not be in disadvantage because bitcoin that we have at that time also rise in price.

Why do bitcoin transaction costs continue to increase?
the likelihood of the number of coins in circulation at this time continues to increase and bitcoin has been in great demand by the public, so that possibility is one cause of the increased transaction costs of bitcoin.

Hmm, I think there is a factor why the transaction fee increased and that is the amount of the money you are transacting.  If it is a large amount,  then definitely the transacting fee is bigger and the same goes with low amount of transacting money directing to lower transacting fee.

maybe the nominal Bitcoin you transacted over the transaction at the beginning.

because I used to move Bitcoin from Bittrex to Binance around 50,000 satoshi.

the same thing with Bittrex to the local market in my country, his fee is 50,000 satoshi.

The reason behind why bitcoin transaction fee keeps increasing because of the changes of the business environment every time and also
because of the law of the demand that happen during the changes occurred, in short because of not everything in the business is stable to function well.

according to what I know, the fee depends on the block size and the number of transactions in bytes. It is also influenced by the amount of miner. So I think that's normal.

Hi!
Before you transact you need to review the money that you will going to send because every transaction fees depend on the money sent. Maybe you don't know that trnsaction fee is not constant it will always depend and change depend on the value sent.

I think the reason why many bitcoin transaction fee increases is because of the demand it gets and also having a great amount to convert would surely require much transaction fee it is directly proportional.

it because there are many queue in the transaction that need to send, so I think it makes the price of the fee is increasing because of that queue and I think if you want to make your transaction be the priority you need to pay extra fee amount to make your transaction become priority

Aside from the transaction size, we could probably include two other factors: higher demand and decreasing supply.

The relationship between supply and demand is a common principle in this kind of system. As demand increases and supply decreases, price will increase. We could assume that fees would be the same due to this reason.

it happens because more and more transactions bitcoin delivery, while those who transact with the highest cost will be prioritized and transactions more quickly, thinking someone expensive is not a problem as long as the transaction is fast.

This is also possible by basing the small amount of Bitcoin we try to transfer so there are so many high transaction costs and vice versa.
Before we do it also makes trading conscious know their transaction fees are very high at this time sekrang, but this all depends on the bottleneck when we make transactions, in other words, the number of transactions changed at a time.

There are several cryptocurrencies which are very similar to bitcoin, but their price is much lower. I guess this is primarily due to bitcoin having a big first mover advantage. Bitcoin pioneered the cryptocurrency movement and therefore has the most mindshare of all cryptocurrencies. It leads to more trust in bitcoin than any other cryptocurrency, and therefore more demand, more usage, and higher price.

that's why you get much higher cost over time, and starting today the price is quite low now and maybe your transaction costs do the same, we all have something in general actually we all have the same situation, the price is very current fluctuates, Because many people use bitcoin for transactions and demand in the market has gone up. If we conduct high-value transactions, transaction costs are also high.

Fees will continue to increase.
For a "fee market" to evolve, there needs to be demand and suppliers. But there is only a fixed supply.
If fees get high, there's no way for miners to say, "Oh fees are high, we should mine more blocks or larger blocks to capture these fees". So fees continue to increase because demand is just slightly higher than capacity.

Probably because the blocks are getting harder. Bitcoin currently has a considerable amount of demand so that traffic from blockchain becomes solid. I think it is depends on the network of bitcoin. If they processed much transactions, the fee of transaction could be more expensive.
but for me, the fee is still ok as long not exceed $3. In ETH, if network is crowded, the gas fee of ETH can increased much.

Title: Re: Why bitcoin transaction fee keeps increasing?

Unlike traditional financial institutions, which charge different rates for each transaction, Bitcoin fees are completely independent of the amount of money you are sending. As a result, the $ 5 shipment fee for Bitcoin may be the equivalent of $ 5,000. Fees are usually not in USD, nor in BTC. Instead, it is determined based on the amount of satoshi per data byte, or sat / b. Satoshi is the smallest unit of Bitcoin: 100 million satoshi combine to create 1 BTC.
Therefore, instead of paying for each bitcoin you send, you will pay for the amount of data in a block that your transaction is occupying. Each standard transaction is usually 226 bytes in size, so your transaction confirmation time will depend on the amount of money you send.

As bitcoin further increases in price. So is the amount of traffic caused by the large mass if users that are transacting across the globe. To make up for this developers of each different companies that cater bitcoin transaction spend hours and hours finding the most optimal solution to lessen or even obliterate this traffic. And because not everything in this world is free, they need to be paid more, that's why the transaction fees increase to give some more for the company while ensuring bitcoin has its fair share.

Now the bitcoin delivery fee keeps increasing, as more and more bitcoin delivery transactions, so transactions that pay the highest fee will be prioritized (faster confirmed)
For example agan transaction has a miner fee 0.0005 BTC, while the other 1000 transaction miner feenya reach 0.0009 BTC, then you have to wait a few hours until your transaction can be confirmed

due to many hard fork information, there are too many transactions are going on and started the congestion. thus higher fees. you can always set a same low fee, if you are willing to wait.
Congestion all over the world affects the processing of transactions which resulted to options for users to either pay the minimum amount or pay higher for faster processing. It is like a fast lane, but I wish it is fair for all whether big or small time trader.

Requests for the transaction are processed by the miners, for which they receive a fee in the form of a commission. This amount depends on demand, and the sender himself decides how much he is willing to give as a reward to the miner. The higher the amount the sender sets, the higher the priority of its transaction, and the faster it will be generated. The amount of the commission does not depend on the amount of the transfer. As now expensive equipment is needed for mining, the average size of the commission has increased.

Thats because this scam nears to its end soon.

The reason is pure mathematics: there are less and less BTC to be released via mining, therefore there will be nothing to pay the miners with.

2 possibilites:

a) scheme masters try to prolong the scheme, by increasing payments to miners with transaction fees. That wont help in long run, because finally BTC release will drop to ZERO and if they want to include all reward for mining into transaction fee, the service will be ridiculously expensive.

b) scheme has entered second phase, where scheme masters collect money for themselves and miners stay underpaid.

Now Bitcoin has become much more popular than before, and tens of thousands of people regularly want to transfer it. Blocks are extracted more slowly than those wishing to make a transaction. As a result, from the transactions that are sent by users to the network, but not yet to a block, that is not confirmed, a queue is formed. As a result, commissions can reach undue proportions.

The fees are pretty low at the moment and i do not think that you need to spend more than half a dollar at the moment, its low

That is right, the fees of bitcoin is now cheaper compare to the rate for fees back then like the year of 2017. I think this is a good indication that the network of bitcoin is not that congested like before and it is a good sign that the network of bitcoin is now faster and so much better than the last year's network which means it can handle transactions easily.

Зeople believe that everything that is popular should be free, easy and bring profit. But nothing needs to be done. This is a script for a movie) You always need to remember that you pay for all you are doing in your life.

Yes, and sooner or later transaction fees will increase again and time will come people will avoid using bitcoin as transactions fees will be higher than our daily salary in our offline work.

What's does it mean "the same transaction"? If you're referring to the amount being sent then this has nothing to do with the fees. It's the transaction size that make the fees bigger.

And maybe, many more transactions will do.The transaction fee also will fast adjust and increased their fees.

Bitcoin transaction fee keeps increasing because of its popularity and its higher price irrespective of the volatility or unstable nature of bitcoin.

Several factors could affect this, such as the time period for which the transaction took place and the network congestion.  In any case, it is necessary to try to calculate all possible figures.

This happens mostly whenever the network is congested .

It could also be as a result of many unconfirmed transaction piled up on the bitcoin ecosystem.
I also have noticed that increase in price happens at times when the price of bitcoin is on the upward trend

I think the increase in transaction fees is related to the current economic situation. Because the price of Bitcoin fell sharply, the transaction significantly decreased. They do not handle as many transactions as before so they have to increase transaction fees to ensure monthly sales.

Due to high a volume of transactions, the fees will be surely increase and other reason maybe the economic status affect the transaction fees also. But what matter most was we are not being taxed by governments, transaction fees will be our compensation for the profit we earned or gained.

But now bitcoin has lower transaction costs even we can transact with bitcoin without transaction fee. That's what makes bitcoin in the half of eyes, but now that bitcoin is showing innovation and improvements so bitcoin gets a place in people's hearts. Indeed if bitcoin does not make improvements that occur is bitcoin will lose the trust of the community and bitcoin position as the king of crypto currency can be displaced.

At present, research and investment in Bitcoin is relatively common. Bitcoin collectors and trades are growing rapidly. By the rules of supply and demand, Bitcoin trading floors increase transaction fees to make more profits for managers.

The a regularly expanding number of unconfirmed trades on the blockchain organize the higher charge would be required for you to send in typical certification time. check blockchain.info and bitcoinfees21.co to see what sum would you spend on costs and to what degree would it take. I might want to use blockchain's wallet since you can re-try your charge.

As we all know that in cryptocurrency especially those local exchange had collecting percentage on the money getting involve in the transaction. The bigger amount of crypto being transacted the bigger crypto transaction fee will be collected. And it will be opposite also when bitcoin market price will go down. It could also mean that trnasaction fee will go down also.

I agree about what you said above that the reason why the fees of bitcoin is increasing because of the market price. It totally depends in there because we all know that the value itself is changeable and unstable, that is why it will totally make the fees increased.

This has been increasing time to time and the same gets reflected on the transaction fee of each transaction. Compared to the past the price has grown bigger and the same too will contribute to the transaction fee increase. Anyhow the transaction getting stuck to the network has decreased a lot

Demand generates a supply. It is not good for us but we all need to understand this thing. I agree that it grows up per every year. Maybe in future and says situation can changed.

Maybe Bitcoin you send it is more than the price before it, for example:

transfer fee 0.1 Bitcoin = 50,000 satoshi
transfer fee 0.5 Bitcoin = 100,000 satoshi

if such is probably still reasonable, because the miners also want to profit from the transfer.

bitcoin transaction fees are pushed up by demand and some participants will always be willing to pay greater and greater amounts in order to ensure their transaction is confirmed in a short period of time

Anyone who has ever used the phrase "fee market" with respect to a fixed block size has no grasp of what is and will occur.

If someone is attacking with transactions then the price increase should make it cost prohibitive to scale up. If these are attacks they should stop and the fees wil adjust accordingly. I think in the future microtransactions should be done off the block. If you moving $20 or more and have to pay ¢15.

Bitcoin is a currency that works in a decentralized network. the Bitcoin transaction fee keeps increasing due to the Bitcoin network is busy or loaded at the moment of transaction. usually the fee increases during sudden bitcoin rate fluctuations and major world events. The Bitcoin network calculates fees based on the number of transactions and the size of a transaction depends on the number of inputs that hold funds. The more inputs you have, the more expensive the transaction.

Title: Re: Why bitcoin transaction fee keeps increasing?

This is primarily due to the ever-increasing complexity of the production unit, which leads to the need to increase production capacity. Everything in the compartment forms an increase in the price of the operations themselves, so that the network can simply work, and this already leads to an increase in the transaction fee.

Based on my experience. the transaction fee for bitcoin is depend how much money you will send. There has a site that have a matrix of transaction to follow. Even though we do not like it we have no choice but to follow it. Well think there has a reason behind it they have a basis calculation of it before they implement that kind of transaction fee.

No, AFAIK it does NOT depend on the amount you are paying.
It's not like Western Union.

It depends on
- the size, in bytes, of the transaction, and that in turn depends on how many inputs you are using, i.e. whether your funds are coming from only one of your addresses or more than one, makes a difference on the size of the transaction in bytes, and hence on the fee

- how congested the network is. If too many people are sending transactions, miners may not be able to serve everybody in short time, so they will give priority to the ones paying a high fee, then they serve the others

Now, about the second point i thought that the dev team made some improvements this year in order to reduce congestion, but i haven't checked if those improvements actually work. We'll see

I think that everything happens because the network is overloaded . I heard that China has closed the supply of electricity for bitcoin mining !

Do not worry that Bitcoin prices are too high. Exchange rates will adjust for each transaction lowered to suit everyone avoiding high transaction costs. Do not worry about the current transaction fee is about 0.0001-0.0003BTC this is a reasonably appropriate fee.

Yes, bitcoin transaction fee is getting higher and higher because the cost of mining is higher than the price in the market.

In my opinion this is because an increase in transactions in the network of Bitcoin so the Miner would take a higher fee
as first transfer than a small fee. I also rarely transactions with Bitcoin, because I like to save for the long term.

I have never experienced it, and I think it may be because of the large amount of value or it's because of the different transaction destination factors from one market to another, and the amount is quite large for transaction costs.
yes you are right that it depend on types of transaction i means that now a days the price of bitcoin is really increases and thats also the reason that the fees increases in transaction.
I didnt see the change, i still charged 0.0005 btc fee :(

The fees are very low now.
To reduce them you should send your btc during low traffic time.
Have you ever tried to follow this criteria?

Indeed, everyday bitcoin fee is imcreasing and I think ut will invrease everytime the bitcoin peak is in the highest level. It depends on how much the bitcoin is, to be exact.

I think bitcoin transactions fee are continously increasing because agents wants to earn more because even if the convenient fee will increase people are always choice go buy or to pay bitcoin in any paying agents so the agent will take the opportunity to earn. Then the other side is political or government matters. Government will put more taxes to the agents who will accept bitcoin payment transactions so the agents or company will have no choice to mark up the transaction fees that we pay in every bitcoin transactions. But it's ul to you on how you manage and to earn we have a high transaction fees.

because the fee uses a percent system that depends on the price of bitcoin, so if the price of bitcoin rises then the fee will also rise and vice versa.

Due to the extreme use of bitcoin all over the world and bitcoin has a huge demand nowadays. If your amount is big to transaction its fees can be measured by that size of the amount that I think. Even maybe the cause of transaction fees keep increasing because of bitcoin is used for making different types of the payment transaction.

because of the increasing number of transactions on the same day, which makes the fee increase and it all depends on the exchange rate of bitcoin. all coins even if the overload fee will increase too

Excactly.
This is also due to the hashing power war that floods the blockchain.
We have to wait...

This is most time caused by lot's of clogged unconfirmed transactions. Many times the transactions cost will definitely increased untill the waited unconfirmed transactions is confirmed, then the fee might stabilize again.

Network congestion is the most probable cause of increased transaction fee nowadays. During the hype, people have FOMO some time in November to December 2017, the transaction fees were insanely high due to many people are trying to buy. Now, people are selling most of their BTC holdings due to fear of BTC price going further down below $1500.

If you are using ETH aside btc, you will experiencing the dynamic transaction fee in ethereum network ( gas fee ).
The fee amount will depends on the network congestion. If there are many transactions waiting to be processed, then the fee will go higher.
I think it will be the same for bitcoin network as well, not everyday is increasing.

He/She posted this thread on November 2017 when the price of Bitcoin is skyrocketing to the moon and he/she is telling why the price is increasing is because the value of Bitcoin is increasing too on that particular Month and Year. For example, if you're paying a fee of BTC0.001 Satahoshi's for a transaction to proceed at November 2017 where the price or value of 1 Bitcoin is playing around $10,000 dollars the equivalent value of the transaction fee is approximately $10 dollars and if you are paying that kind of fee at this particular moment where the price of Bitcoin has fallen down to $3,800 dollars the equivalent of BTC0.001 fees that you'll pay for the transaction at this moment will be around $3.8 dollars and I do really think that this is what the OP wants to point out. 8)

Bitcoin fees will increase if there are too many transactions at once. They will set their rates at a priority level, which will increase passive fees. This causes the bitcoin network to overload and sometimes it will cause your transaction to be "delayed" when you choose low transaction fee. So, be really happy when you pay a higher fee to make the transaction faster.

Maybe you choose priority transactions, so the fees are expensive, try a low fee, but it results in the length of time that bitcoin reaches the recipient.

you are right, it depends on the fee that is issued, the greater the fee that is issued, the faster the transaction. well, this is not much different from using gwei on ETH transactions.

I think now a days many traders have difference of opinions and if fee of transactions is high this can be possible through this reason that many exchanges will not offer buying and selling so when few are in the market they have monopoly so they can charge high fee for transaction in crypto.
