Title: Auctions
Post by: Nightowlace on June 19, 2013, 02:22:20 PM
I would like to suggest splitting the auction area into two parts 1. Mining Auctions 2. Auctions
I understand the mining race is on in a big way and their is a lot of equipment and/or shares available but I feel like a lot of good items that have nothing to do with mining get lost in mining posts.
I'm not a hoarder. I like to make BTC and I like to spend BTC. I feel like I miss some of the good auctions because they are short and get buried quickly.

Good idea,  Hopefully a 3rd party service will corner the market with a better auction UI at some point.

I wonder why bitmit isn't catching up.

I don't buy stuff in auctions, but wouldn't it be preferable to a guy buying stuff in auctions when auctions get buried more quickly so it lessens the chance others see the auction and overbid you?

I was just thinking the same thing, there is BitMit which is built for doing auctions.

I think part of it is people like to have the reduced anonymity of the forum as a partial system of trust, or something like that.

Yeah, I never buy from auctions on this site. Just because they normally get buried and I'll forget about them. I USE bitmit because it's meant for auctions and easy to see auctions.

I would also sugest to have some childs on auction subforum segregating the diferent phases of auctions. I thought about having at least these: "on going", "payment/delivery" and "done".

Everytime an auction reaches the next phase the topic Is moved inside the corresponding child.

I just dont know how much overhead it would bring to moderators or if each owner would be Able of moving his topic, in this case only the rules should be known and followed.

Lets see what you guys think about this idea.

No because as stated  "posts get lost in the shuffle"
