Title: Feesolver coming soon
Post by: jim618 on June 19, 2013, 02:55:43 PM
Thanks to Matt Corralo, there is now a feesolver in bitcoinj v0.9.
As the name suggests, it works out the correct fee for a transaction. 'Correct' means the fee will keep bitcoind 0.8.2s happy.

I have been integrating it into MultiBit this week and have it basically working. The fee setting in the Preferences has disappeared and it now works out the fee as:

+ for regular transactions, the fee is 0.0001 BTC / KiB
+ if you end up with change of less than 5460 satoshis it gets thrown away by adding it to the fee.

I am going to spend the rest of this week testing it out and working my way through the MultiBit bug list. I plan to get the next release out early next week.

There are a small number of new localisation terms added but not that many. I will hoover up any localisation work that is done by Monday morning GMT and put it in the release.

I have added the size of the transaction onto the transaction details dialog:
