Title: Why So Many ICOs — What Does It All Mean?
Post by: ledu_ico on November 10, 2017, 07:12:41 PM
The world of cryptocurrencies has exploded like never before in 2017. The price of Bitcoin has catapulted to over $7000 for the first time in its history. There has also been an increase in the number of initial coin offerings (ICOs). According to CoinDesk, since Jan 2017, ICOs went from roughly $300 million raised in total since they began in 2014, to $2.7 billion raised as of October.

Not surr what this post is about. But we are starting to see a bare market for ico now. Seems to be a cash grab for alot of these ico projects. I think people are starting to realize this, after the fomo effect.
So alot of people has lost coins or in the negative and some folks had made or will be making alot from the icos theyve invested in.
Theres a few projects out there thats very promising.
Me, i hate icos. Causes my eth to drop in price lol.

$7,000 for a single Bitcoin is one of the reasons why many altcoins will fail, there will be people that know that the altcoins that they have aren't needed.

It means that whoever is running these ICOs has gotten extremely greedy in 2017. If you were trying to raise 10 million last year it would been good luck with that but now 10 million is a dirty sock on the roadside. As long

as the valuations get tame and are more reasonable then ICOs should exist but being this greedy is pure trash. For this reason I currently dislike ICOs a lot.

Basically, it means that the ICO market is in a bubble, and will burst.
In fact, I believe it is already bursting.
How many of these ICOs are actually successful?
How many people put money into an ico an lose money or not get what they were promised?
How many of these people will do an ico again?

Right now, ICOs get a lot of money off of those new to crypto with dreams of becoming a quick millionare.
Hmmmmm...where are all those millionares that earned it through an ICO?

Also, it is common knowledge now that you can anticipate the prices to crash below the ICO price after it hits exchanges.

So, basically, just cause there's a lot doesn't mean its good.
In fact, it is quite the opposite.

Positive vision: Now is the time to realize dreams, take the paper and put into practice, things that a few years ago was not possible.

ICOs mean Initial Coin Offering,
what does that mean ? they're selling their coin to get money from it and increase the financial for the project.
why so many of them in here ?
because they can collect a lot of money without doing too much money and it's very easy.
most of them created it just to get money from it,
only a few of them delivered what they're aiming for.
just look at our ICOs right now, everyday we can see another project and offering an ICOs.
from 1000 Projects, only 5 that have a good preparation and seriousness.

The answer is obvious, because it is profitable, the money that ICO collects, many even dream of such amounts can not, it's like the development for real projects and fraud for those who want to deceive us

urban societies with high population simply have very diverse economies, if you then observe them in the internet, which is the main communication hub,

then you simply will get a lot of ICOs

if the economy isnt capable to lend and invest diversly enough which i doubt the current financial system can,

then enterpreneurial creativity gets limited, and the society gets more communist style standardised,

i hope that helped you

There are many ICO's going on these days, which of course has positive and negative sides.

Some people take advantage of current situation to finally realise their long term dreams/ideas and actually create some added value, while some people see ICO's as a money grab (unfortunately more and more people do so).

Looking forward to seeing ICO's being regulated, but until then, carefully pick the ICO's you will invest in. Noone needs $45m to write a 15 line code.

I agree with you. The thing is, the price dropped amd continued to drop. This is just a correction of the price of things back then.

Now, the reason about this is greed. Amd to scam peope. While others really have a great concept and can really do help better the crypto currency world as a whole. But most of th are just freaking scam projects! And i have become victim to this  many times before. Good thing i learned because ofy experience. I wont let people asc me ever agan.

It is very easy thing to do now, because it is a very easy means of raising money, once you can write a good marketable whitepaper and add one or two well know advisory team to your team, people will give you their money. To be sincere it is now a big concern because that means the rate of failure will be very high

In my own opinions why so many ICO project, because its promote each and everyone there own altcoins to the world of digital currency,by means of blogs, twitter, campaign or any other kinds of ideas to promoting there own coins as a modern stakes .ICO is so helpful they give us job especially we  the beginner  in bitcoin to  have a profit  and earning so that we can use it for the 2nd level of being traders of bitcoins and altcoins.

People saw ICOs as an easy way to make bank and retire... I'm glad that the crypto market finally caught up on this and the funding for shady and suspicious projects has gone down by a lot (and people profitting from flipping the coins instantly on the market as well).

Everyone loves easy money and some people are addicted in searching of it's way but however it doesn't exist or you have to be luckiest one. Some ICO's were succesful in past, people has seen that it was easy and great way for profit, so what others wanted? To create ICO and attract people, some of them just scam, some of them gives promises and then fail but finally people are looking something powerful for easy profit, that's all.

Because there are legit projects that really has a clear goal and vision, many shit project ride the wave so that they can established their own ICO - yes to have that special money. If they able to reached the target, then success and up to them if they will push the project or left the money behind.

That's why it's so risky to participate in ICO.

This is a new technology, so lot of people and companies are paving the road for the few. Think cell phones. We had a lot of ideas, we ended up with iPhone and Android.
Also, soon enough governments in their never-ending care of us will create new wonderful laws, and most of it will end. Imho.

There might be an ICO bubble and it might burst, but this can't just pass unnoticeably. I think this is a start for a technological revolution, and yes, some of the projects are not good enough to keep up, so they will fail, but those serious ones will be among the firsts who started this revolution

Completely agree with you here. I feel that majority of the ICOs these days are nothing but scams and very few ICOs are actually legit in my opinion. So many scammy ICOs are popping up these days in order to steal money from naive people and it is very easy to create your own token these days thanks to the ethereum blockchain. This problem can be reduced if Vitalik and his team find a way to suppress this problem.

The sad part about the ICO boom is that it brings criminals out of the woodwork.  >:( And its the criminals that ruin it for everyone. If people could behave we could have a wonderful ICO environment with self regulation, but with no regulation people use it as an opportunity to steal money, often.

If there is a real, working, successful business behind the ICO, the chance of scam is zero.

This is one of the things i do really like to see when a certain ICO do launch where it do have already been working and operating on real life which would somehow give me an assurance that it would really be successful. I wouldnt doubt to put up my money on these kind of ICO and going back to the question on why there are lots of ICO been launched recently then frankly speaking this is one of the most common way on making easy money into its developers they do create coin, hype it up then easy profits.

ICOs are basically start up companies hoping to make it big using bitcoin as medium and using the potential of encouraging other people to bet on them and invest. Unfortunately, some companies don't really have long term plans on what they want to do and are not actually seeing that their own project will prosper. Also, others make ICOs wholly to scam people which is why many are thinking that most ICOs are automatic scams.

Don't worry about this, this is an expected situation since we know that blockchain would expand this much and projects are needed for this. Without them, the ecosystem would stay as a small and special thing for minority.

The ICO market has become incredibly saturated of late, initially there was a rush of good ideas earlier this year and many successful ICOs, this attracted many others to the market and now I believe we have too many ICOs and that's why many are not reaching their targets.

New projects as a business  gain more funds  to further finance it and to propel it forward. They do ICOs in the cryptocurrency form to do achieve it with the promise that investors will gain with their rise as well. Unfortunately,  a lot of scammers is doing ICOs just to get investors money and flee. There are still good ICOs out there but it requires some serious studying of these ICOs before investing on them.

ICO is a form of capital mobilization of the starup. It is a very good form but now many ICO projects are formed without good planning, not building the community of interest so go to failure. There are also fraudulent ICO projects. Be careful when investing in ICOs.

This is precisely the reason I stopped investing in ICOs altogether. It is simply too risky. You need to do so much research and no matter how much you do, there always seems to arise more questions. I am sticking to the big guns - Bitcoin and Ethereum, with the exception of my signature company of course, Angel Token which is a legitimate company and I highly suggest you invest in them because they are 100% REAL and professional.

People need money to raise their kids and provide for their family, One of the easiest ways to do that is through ICO and what we love around here is also quick money, We invest on ICO's because when they are listetd on exchanges we could sell our tokens with profit :D Some times we wait for a long time to trade them and some times we know that we've got scammed, Nothing we can do other than keeping it to ourselves, Because we're the only ones to blame.

Meaning is, that has been a lot of blockchain technology applied to all businesses and projects, because the fundraising mechanism is faster than conventional transaction methods. But there is a problem that must be considered whether the idea of the developer will be sold so that it can be raise the funds!

The so many ICOs explains just one thing: that the blockchain is now a lucrative place to channel one's business to raise money, whether to boost an already existing one or to start up a new one. However, this prevalence has also been fraught with scammers. Not all ICOs are genuine. Some devs are plainly out to scam and run.

This is what I try to get a lot of people to understand.
ICOs are too good to be true and it has begun to reveal its true nature.
Soon, it will all blow up in a cloud of smoke.

Read more about it here (https://hackernoon.com/why-so-many-icos-what-does-it-all-mean-a229fd9c8e92)
$7,000 for a single Bitcoin is one of the reasons why many altcoins will fail, there will be people that know that the altcoins that they have aren't needed.

Surely btc is the safest coin that we can invest in and I agree that some alts aren't needed but there's still promising projects that will surely bloom and needed in the future.

Yes, that is so true. Many ICOs are indeed profitable and can give us many advantages in a short time. If Bitcoin can provide a lot of benefits in a few years, there are some ICOs that can give a lot of benefits in just a matter of months. But we have to know that new projects or new ICOs always appear all the time and that's too much. Thus many ICO's are scam or fraud. Many people take advantage of blockchain and the popularity of cryptocurrency as a tool to deceive others. Usually they will be shaped like HYIP, which requires people to invest.

But when there are already many people who invest, ICO owners even run away or do not want to develop its own ICO. They will take our money.

Thats mean many startup in the world was growth. But to realize that, they need a big fund from investor. So to make it success they begin from promote to invite many investor like ICO participan from social media, press release and others. Also they made a bounty campaign on this forum to know how much people interested with their project.

Too many sprouting ICOs meaning there is a big market that is needed to be addressed. Maybe replacing fiat in the near future and changing the currency I guess. But it is also alarming that with this booming currency, some are taking advantage and are using ICO to scam people, people who are unaware and is taking all risk and invest.

ICO bubble.

You can have a ready to use token in a blink of an eye. They are selling it everywhere, all you have to do i hire someone to write a whitepaper, a blockchain, an ICO website. And then it's ready to launch. Profit flows in your pocket. After get on an exchange, such as etherdelta (garbage decentrallized exchange for trash token), you sell everything you have. Easy money? Do that again and again.

I have learned that a lot of good projects are below ICO price when it hits exchanges. Which will give you more tokens/coins for your budget if you just wait. I have entered three ICOs, all three were successful but I could of gotten more out of it if I waited.

ICOs are very risky, some are scam and some will barely get you break even. They are good for fundraising but they have a bad name, especially with a lot of countries banning them. They need to be regulated for sure.

Noob i hate to be a broken record but you are missing option #3.
*OTHER* currencies...
You see Investards you can salivate over your ROI's with actual real currencies ..something no ICO can ever be.

For example Litecoin is an alternative digital currency like Bitcoin and no it is not an ICO.
The way ICO's work means they can not be a fairly launched open source decentralized digital currency.
Which is what option #3 is all about.

You know it's surprising you NOOBS don't know that.
You are so wrapped up in the ICO hysteria fer teh ROI's HODL MOON profits coins on teh exchangers that you sort of missed the entire point and 8 years of history before you got here.

And what really amuses the shit out of me is you same noobs line up to jiggle your dick-holsters about crypto as though you know things.. Not quite pajeets  :D

The thing is you know what i said above though.
You have been told relentlessly and you all simply ignore the 3rd option and rail on about ICO's.
Sort of like if you all collectively ignore the criticism of the ICO scheme system you can by force and by majority over-ride morality and common sense and legitimize a scammy corrupt centralized "cash grab" system.

Essentially a community take over to lower the bar.

Besides half of you NOOBS that post here all the time are simply the same scammy asshole dev's who are MAKING the "coins".. so your deceitful puppet account faggotry lends you no credence here NOOBS.
Bad is bad.. no matter how much Bitcoin / FIAT profits you make from it.

And lately i see a little trend where noobs are riding the ole ICO's are bad Spoetnik rant coattails.
Problem is you are full of shit.
You follow profits so when the profits evaporate on SCRYPT clones you then show up here en mass to bad mouth them.
Same with ICO's.
And as soon as the profits return you are behind the scenes trading them for profits.
You are in fact 100% full of shit.. faking morality and ideology because it's trendy (thanks to Spoetnik)
But i was here all along livin' the trend pajeets.
You will never be me ROFL  ;D  8)

How do i know ?
Because all ICO's are scammy by design but each and every single one of you out there are going to line up to forever play the *some* routine cliche'd retort.
Yup... they are bad, ohhh so bad ..except the one i am bag holding of course  :D

..or made that i am defending on theTalk with sock-puppet accounts.

You know shitbirds it's a bit late to line up to talk shit about ICO's when your trade history clearly shows you were all along supporting them for profits.. or making them.

Hell i just looked and i seen 16,000 ANN topics and last month i seen 14,000.
This shit is simply ridiculous.  ::)
And you know it which is why you are faking this morality routine *now.

Nice fairy tale.. know anymore interesting stories ?
Making 10,000 different currencies does not equate to usage in the slightest.

I keep telling you 3 post NOOB accounts here you are stupid and it doesn't seem to sink in.
And i am not saying that to be mean or anything you just post dog shit drivel incessantly.

Every single person in the Altcoin scene is a NOOB.

A month ago I saw an ICO called "useless Ethereum token" or something like that and they raised 70k usd...I don't understand why did they put money in this kind of project. SOME will deliver some will just promise with no outcome. So better invest money to a project you think will succeed in long run.

Why is so many ICO's?
Because there are a lot of people that want to invest from the beginning of company not like on Stock Market when company stock price is already too high for average Joe. You must do your own research and make a good choice, and then it can be very profitable like recent ICO Power Ledger (POWR) where the current price is 10x higher than ICO.

Well for me it is no suprise that there is so much money getting piped into the cryptocurrency, i mean since the dramatic increase of bitcoin's price people have been eager to know more about it and it acted as a bridge to intrduce poeple into more  cryptocurrencies liek ethereum which proved to be the best option for developpers and new project founders to get some kick starters and begin their projects, and this by being able to create their own tokens using ethereum and sell them to people, and there is no suprise that we will see more and more poeple going in into this new industry and this new market that is the cryptocurrency.

Basically what this means, IMO, I think think that a lot of companies are integrating their products to be built on blockchain, we shouldn't forget that blockchain technology is about to take over the world, soon enough a lot of products will be built on blockchain technology.

We might further think of it as the fact that startup companies are looking for the quickest way possible to raise funds for their projects or companies. However, my advice is don't invest in projects you don't know or hardly understand the concept, only invest in projects that you believe in and have hope that they will make it the near future. As an investor, you should invest in projects that will benefit you in a way.

The main reason why ICO is booming up because they do see that theres a strong support of the community when they do decide to launch up a certain good project which would really make profits so easy and the trend goes on and now the reality comes through on which scammers and frauds joined up the action and making their own coin and market them public which do make raised some funds and poof. Theyre gone and scam its investors. They are really many as of now and if we do try to calculate how many % do become success on these ico would really be less than 3% overall. :D

I look at the ICO's as a new wave in an online capital formation. It may look like a bubble currently, but it is a legit and very future-proof way of raising money for businesses. Crowdfunding - a previous boom in this field was also a surprise to everyone. No one could imagine that it is possible to raise up to $1 million from strangers online to start a product. Now, when we add investing perspective to the crowdfunding, we get an ICO phenomenon.

There are many ICO's that are being launched in this past few months but most of them ends in failure or ends with scams. Many ICO's but few of them are legit to invest , it is in the persons choice what ICO that they wants to participate and invest.

Because there are several sucessful ICO's in the market and it makes it more exposed to the investors, putting large amount of money to pump its value. People see this as an opportunity to multiply their investments. And here comes those who wants to grab the opportunity, with the hopes to beat Bitcoin. A lot of ICO's are coming from anywhere, some of them are fake and scam And they are just nuisance and greedy people who wants to take huge volume of money from the crowd fundings.

The demand of the crypto currencies are already known all over the world.
We just need to go with the flow and adopt. But we should always be cautious to fake/scam coins and learn and observe more on all these digital currencies.

There is no such thing as a successful ICO.
Unless you mean the scheme drew in plenty of people with cash in hand.
Which is a silly bullshit way to measure "success".
Unless of course you ignore what the thing is and view it as a money making scheme.. like a ponzi / pyramid variant.

Reminds me of the BlockNET kids who said they needed a million dollars in Bitcoin "To ensure it's a success"

Wow it does mean only one thing — smart people understand that it is extremely difficult to work on the cryptomarket if you are alone. They join into the groups and find out the ways to earn more.

What are you talking about ? ICOs is not greedy lmfao. ICO is the easiest way to get investor on your project, that's why there are many project that using ICO to get easy fresh cash/investor. I can say 2017 is the big year for ICOs, there are many projects and ICOs in this year.

OPs asking about why lots of ICO going now.for me personally its all about easy money,as we see lots of complaints now regarding those new releases ico about scamming.the coins just left no value for long.maybe we should be aware of those many scammer they have no care about others but only for them selfs

Yeah, compared to Kickstarter and crowd funding projects, the amount of ICO's isn't particularly excessive.
Simply a simply way for crypto enthusiasts like all of us here to contribute and get involved easily.
Just like crowdfunding though, make sure you like the company you are supporting, and believe in it.

Noob, wondered why "coins" are banned on all major platforms such as Kickstarter ?

For example if you use crypto shit with Paypal or eBay you will have your account locked and funds seized.
It's against their TOS.. has been for at least 5+ years.

When you are done reading my comment head over to the "Buying Paypal / Bitcoin" section on this scam web site.  ::)

The same reason why many IPOs exist. People look for ways to fund raise and ICOs appear to a decent way to do so.

I read an article also stated that some Cryptocurrency developers havr multiple Cryptocurrency companies or organizations so that's what we call them greedy developers, all they want is money from investors and they are not giving much focus on a single project.
That's what we call weird.

Good ICOs hires higher rank members that's why I don't think I'm affected by too much ICOs out there.

Why too many ICO's? In my own explanation the ICo means it is fhe time now which some so called 'future projects' have seen an Ico is an step for them to earn more and to run a big project through online blockchain with their own real objection of business. So they will make a project with some capital and more capital funds of investors in their ICO

The growing number of ico projects indicates that more and more money has been flowing into the ico market, which indicates that more and more people are choosing to invest in virtual COINS, and the market value of virtual COINS will be higher and higher.

From all the latest ICOs I have see it is not about being a cryptocurrency anymore but more of like a business for them. These new Altcoins serve as purpose to have commission on their part or something, they have wild business ideas and plans that if you want to join them you can also earn from them (if it is a success) Some altcoins also have no good intention where they will make the classic "pump and dump" technique where they will leave you hanging with all your worthless coins. I suggest that you have your own research before being part of an ICO.
