Title: Node offline help
Post by: g2180 on November 11, 2017, 07:32:03 AM
I have just loaded Bitcoin Core and Amory into a new laptop.  I have the Bitcoin Core database on an external USB drive and Bitcoin Core is updating that ok.  When I run Amory it updates the wallet and shows the balance ok.  On the Dashboard tab it says 'Amory is Online' but on the Transactions tab it says 'Node offline'.  I have ticked 'let Amory run Bitcoin Core in the background'.

Can anyone help with this please.

Thank you.

In Armory's settings, there is a field for "Bitcoin Core datadir location" (something like that). You must set that to be the location where you have Bitcoin Core's datadir, i.e. your external drive.

Thank you for your response.  Amory already has the remote drive entered and it is accessing that to produce the wallet balances.  I think I will reinstall Amory and see if that works after it has rebuilt the data.

Post the armory log files.

You should post your log files using www.pastebin.com

It has a much larger max size and it really helps keep the thread nice and neat... copy/paste your log file into pastebin, "create" the paste and then post the unique URL that pastebin generates for your "paste" here...

Right click on Task Bar and select task manager.

Close Armory the normal way and watch the Task Manager window under Processes after it finally closes (force if necessary) to make sure that the ArmoryQT.exe, bitcoind (Bitcoin Node Daemon), as well as ArmoryDB.exe all exits.

I suspect that ArmoryDB.exe will hang. If so then right click in Task Manager and End Process.

Restart Armory and see if it run corrreectly like it did for me with the Node Connection green.

Good Luck.
