Title: My Response to the Good.is Hit Piece
Post by: carbonpenguin on June 28, 2011, 10:26:56 PM
Several of my sympathetic friends have recently forwarded along the recent misleadingly titled hit-piece from a no-name online magazine called good.is. My sense is that it was written as link-bait as a way of getting themselves on the map, but it's embarrassingly bad: http://www.good.is/post/why-bitcoin-is-a-scam/

I decided to respond by writing a short letter to the site (submissions@goodinc.com):

Hi,

I just wanted to flag the fact that an article recently published on your website, "Why Bitcoin is a Scam" is titled in a very misleading way. "Scam" clearly indicates fraudulent intent, but the author does not in any way support (or even advance, for that matter) the thesis that Bitcoin was founded as a mechanism to defraud people of their money. He points to very real risks, but such risks do not = scam. I strongly encourage you to retract the current misleading title and replace it with something that actually reflects the article's contents.

Thanks Much!

If anyone else wants to join it the chorus, I think it'd be a good thing...
