If you're looking for random coins to mine that may be worth something check out some of the pool sites and look at the lists of coins they offer to mine. You always want to mine in a pool. GPU/CPU mining will be the way to go for most people nowadays and there are plenty of GPU mineable coins. I'm currently mining PIRL, Electroneum, some ZEC and will be mining BTCG later today when it's released.

I will ask you, what hardware do you use right now? I guess it suit to you, the hardware and software you use right now, I guess it is the best to fit on what you just understand because If you will find another hardware or software that you are not famliar then I guess it will be hard for you.
