Title: Blockchian.info 1000 sat/b fee
Post by: hugeblack on November 12, 2017, 09:12:19 AM
what’s happen to blockchain.info and bitcoin network .

in the past i was sending 100$ with 2$ fee without problem .

last week i try to send 100 $ BTC and pay about 9$ fee (360 sat/b) as reg not priority .

now when try to send 5$ get error "You do not have enough funds to use this fee." +1000 sat/b as fee but (1000 sat mean bout 10$) and why reg fee is 1000?.

is problem from my wallet or from blockchain.info or bitcoin network ???

This is happening due to the huge backlog of unconfirmed transactions and hashrate swing between BTC and BCH we are experiencing (hashrate ratio is Bitcoin Cash 70%:30% Bitcoin). There are fewer blocks being found in the BTC chain and more transactions. Too much unconfirmed transactions and full blocks = higher fees.

That's not Mycelium's fault. According to Blockchain, we have almost 170k unconfirmed transactions in the mempool. Meanwhile, the fastest and cheapest transaction fee is currently 950 satoshis/byte[1] - which is pretty sad. You either need to pay an astronomical fee for fast confirmation or wait some time before seeing your transactions coming through.

The mempool right now:

About $14 to make a transaction is just INSANE. What is happening and where we are going day by day.

As users above said, there is huge problem with high number of unconfirmed transactions and it cause insane fees. And even big fee can't guarantee fast confirmations. Lot of miners switched to BCH currently. Less Bitcoin miners - less blocks mined and it's not enough to confirm lot of transactions. I hope that miners will back to BTC soon, otherwise these problems will be not solved.

Check out again the fee on blockchain.info it was calmed down and the sat/b fee was lowered as the price of bitcoin is now pumping again.

Unconfirmed transactions are now down to 117k from 170k+ so this is a good indication that many miners are now back to mine bitcoin.

The lowest sat/b now is this
Quote
173 sat/b or more is recommended.

As of writing the unconfirmed transaction was down to 108k already which means theres a change on where miners are already getting back to to their work and I do actually wait for this thing to happen this is why I didn't make any transaction on previous weeks because of ridiculous prices even setting out huge fees wont guarantee you to transfer instantly or on a short duration of time but now everything would really goes back to normal.Lets just wait for a couple of days.

I always thought that BCH had no real good features and that the coin would have no reason of existence...
I just checked and the lowest sat/b which is recommend is now 186 (so it is going up again)

Well today it is now down to 93k and that's an amazing thing. The price of bitcoin get back to it's normal price of $6,700 and many miners are active again to mine bitcoin.

We are now on greener days with bitcoin and this is going to make everyone happy again. Though transactions are still sometimes delay what's good today is the unconfirmed transactions went low and the fees aren't too high.

i think 3 days enough to back to normal mode because unconfirmed transaction down from 108k to 93k in one day

Yesterday i pay high fee and take about 23 Hour to be confirmed so that start to back

The fees are lowered today but I think it is still too high for us that are doing micro transactions.

I'm still waiting for the fee to be lowered and even it will go 100sat/b still that's quite high for me. I want to transact with the total fee of 0.0001 BTC or even lower just like before what it used to be.

I'm not in a rush and I'm willing to wait for more than 24 hours.

It could be the reason, no one wants to miss that kind of opportunity to make a quick $ since bch is much easier to mine than bitcoin.

Transactions are slowing down now from 29 per sec to 16 after an hour passed and blocks are getting mined faster. The recommended on bitcoinfees.earn are way off though 710 sat per byte atm is overkill.

Yeah if you have received those $20 in different transactions than size of your outgoing tx will be very high so the fee and currently fee is just really high because of temporary shift of miners to bitcoin cash.

If you want to make micro transactions than select custom fee on blockchain wallet than put 50+ sat/b in fee and you have to submit them to one of the accelerator http://confirmtx.com/ or https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

Thanks for the suggestion mate.
The thing I was about to buy was in a huge sale but that has ended already.
I wish I had received this suggestion a bit earlier. I didn't thought about this process at all, I really forgot it.

For the moment, I am waiting for the fees to go down to send some of my bitcoin from one wallet to another.
Thanks for the suggestion of the accelerator services, I have not yet heard of them, but will check them out  :).

I won't pay $10 just to send $50 that's too high for me already. The essence of using bitcoin is to get cheaper fees for transactions or remittances, the high fee is due to the bitcoin cash pump.

But now there is a low priority fee of 100sat/b and I'm checking it from the time and it was good to see that transactions are only taking 1-2 hours before sending it. The value equivalent to dollars is quite high because the price is pumping but compare before bitcoin pumps it is still cheap.

Yes, it is definitely because of the BCH pump. Now that the volume is no longer that high on BCH/BTC the fees have gone down accordingly. If you pay 400 sats/b you'd be getting 1st block confirmation. even 200 sats/b works.

In these situations where the market is in a frenzy, just don't transact for like 10 hours and wait for the thing to cool down, or send with a lower fee and put the tx into an accelerator.

On a side note, in my opinion, it is still so much simpler with bitcoin to transact overseas than to exchange your money into a foreign currency and then go through the painfully long SWIFT transfer process that will take more in fees and exchange rates than even the highest of BTC transaction fees.

I had a transaction again and you know what? It's crazy that I only paid 25sat/b which is very funny to me since I'm not rushing for the moment I sent it.

While waiting for that transaction I did saw some other transactions that did paid 5sat/b. Transactions today are upgrading and being confirmed at the right time. And before sending I'm checking this https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions if it was not the same before that went high at 100k.

It's really pain when you experienced this. Recent BCH is surging which caused network delays & High Fees. Inbound and outbound transactions may remain pending longer than expected. The fee truly higher than normal, need clam down.
