Title: WDC - what is actually happening with that.
Post by: cryptohunter on June 20, 2013, 08:10:22 PM
They moved to their own forum which looks pretty small. The network still looks pretty strong though. What is happening with that coin exactly?  I remember when price was almost the same as DGC i just checked and well......i guess DGC's constant dev eventually won that out.

Aside from a forum, is there anything else coming for that coin? will the price keep sliding into 00000000000000?

The forum looks to have been a bad idea, those that didnt move to it have forgotten WDC existed i guess since there is hardly ever a mention of it here.

WDC is a 'work in progress'. Dev's are currently making changes to address the orphan issue amongst other 'fixes'. WDC will be back, though having said that, its never really disappeared off the scene and has always been one of the most profitable coins to mine since its release.

~9BTC worth of WDC buy orders left on mcxNOW, to put that in perspective, that's less than both Mincoin and SolidCoin (!).

A few BTC worth of buys left on Cryptsy and Bter as well.

I still have WDC on my pool but the market depth on the buy side is worrisome.

Yeah the network is strong enough and always near the top on coinchoose, but really nobody ever mentions it these days, and price slides everytime i look. The coin design was good but the devs need to push something out for it sooner than later. Better to bring the discussion back here than the dedicated forum too that looks too small to be worth while really. New people may take an interest if the thread was still going strong here really.

Last time I was at the forums, there was a massive intentional dump to get the price down (I probably pissed off a few ppl by saying that lol).

WDC price should go up these next few days/weeks.

Buy now while its cheap  :)

I agree, though I understand they also dont want to release a broken patch & wont release it until its ready.

It took Bitcoin 2 years, Litecoin over a year so I don't know why WDC should do it in a few months :)

Give it some time :)

The price slides because 100,000+ new coins are generated every day and people don't have much to do with them except dump them for BTC.

The answer is in your own post If Bitcoin took 2 yrs, LTC took 1yr then WDC should take 6 months by that way. Because every new coin can learn form the old ones mistakes and grow faster.

So 3 months for PXC :)

There was never an intentional dump, unless I wasn't around for it.  The reason the price is continuing do drop is because of the massive amount of coins produced.  It is surprising that it is back up around 0.0001 right now honestly.

WDC has that crowdfunding/kickstarter type project being developed. 50,000 WDC have been successfully raised to start it. There's also a mining patch in the works to reduce the stales.

Remember, there is also a lot more WDC in circulation than DGC. Increased supply lowers price and they are both very similar coins that launched around the same time. Imagine if when Bitcoin was released a clone was also released that was similar except it's block reward was 3 times bigger and thus 3 times as many coins were in circulation... you would expect the clone to be 3 times cheaper. You get the point...

DGC has a more active dev. Actually, DGC dev seems to be one of the most active devs we have ever seen. I bought a bunch a while back purely because it's so rare to have such a good developer.

This means you haven't seen PXC developers yet.

I think that Baritus is too active.  He interacts a lot with the community but a lot of stuff flies out of his mouth that is unnecessary.  On the other hand, we have the WDC dev who I would say isn't active enough.  The perfect dev would be somewhere in between the two.

And I will mention that just because the WDC dev isn't active in the community, it doesn't mean that he isn't working really hard to get stuff done.

Yes!  The PXC developers are great.
