I've tried several times, it's just not possible, something to do with blockchain.info new wallet addresses. What I can do however, if I feel the offer is genuine enough, is send the lender $1 from the address and post the txt as proof that I control the address. Thanks for looking. Don't take my word for it, ask around. If you need to sign a message, export the private key and import it into electrum and then sign (keep the wallet passworded).
