Title: Offering first $10k in profit to implement stamps.com api & cart
Post by: Stampbit on June 21, 2013, 12:41:16 AM

I operate www.stampbit.com. From a cursory view of the site it can be seen that i am not a web developer, as such i have not been able to implement the stamps.com api into the site to allow for instant label generation, which the delay in processing has for the most part kept customers away (understandably). What i am looking for is someone who can implement the stamps.com api into the site along with a shopping cart which would parse an xml that the user would submit to the site to generate the labels. While this has prevented my initial intention of raising the money through manual processing of orders and funding this development directly, what i can offer to anyone who believes in the profit potential of my business is the first $10k in profit, which can be openly audited through the bitpay account page. If anyone is interested in taking on this project or discussing the particulars of it email me at orders@stampbit.com.

How much profit have you made so far?  If it's more than a few grand, I'd probably do it.

Otherwise, I just can't see the use for this (no offense).  Why would someone use your service (with a markup, probably) instead of getting it directly from USPS?

Hi Daniel,

The same could be said for almost any bitcoin-business. What utility is there in buying from a bitcoin-store when one minute you are paying $10 and the next $13? At this point in time the utility of bitcoin as a purchasing tool is limited to its properties of non-confiscation and pseudoanonymity. For whatever reason someone would have to use this as a currency it is clear at least that bitcoin is none-the-less an incredibly fascinating social and technological experiment. I dont believe anyone in their right mind would start a bitcoin business with the intent to compete with the already established players. And of course that is not my intention, the way i see it is this, if bitcoin is the wild west of technology then stampbit is the pony express (hence the logo). Sure its not as fast or efficient as the usps, but then the usps didnt have to compete with a usps when they were the pony express. There's always unforseen reasons that people will find utility and ive gotten a number of interested requests, however the hesitation remains that as the business stands, what is a manual process equates to a sense of uncertainty, and of course margins. If i could automate this then the margins would be pennies above costs which would negate the already uncertain fluxuations in the price of coin and make it just as fast as usps. There is no reason why if an api were implemented that a bitcoin businesses couldnt send directly to our servers their shipping info as they would stamps.com. Sure we are a middle-man, but we are one less link in the BTC->Fiat feedback loop that makes bitcoin such an impracticable currency.

Its a shame no one wants to help make bitcoin a better currency by supporting the business community, but perhaps im looking in the wrong place.

Incentive is always money and it has to be competitive thats why bitcoin exists to dethrown fiat because it is not ideal for todays global economy. If you offer the right numbers im sure you'll get the nudge on here more than anywhere else.
