Title: [TASK] reward for helping me UP an auction on eBay Post by: PrintMule on June 21, 2013, 07:07:48 AM I'm selling some stuff on ebay, which goes in ~5 hours.
If someone helps me by bidding price from 10$ to ~15$ will receive 0.005BTC If noone buys that in the end, and you are the winner you will still get your BTC I want to sell the item for at least 16 $, if anyone has better strategy would be glad to hear it out fast I'm often fucked up by some buyer with high reserved price and that annoys me like hell http://r.ebay.com/LESAlF I also have another item http://r.ebay.com/6zLkxc ends in 3 hours. Anyone bidding from 15.50 to 16 or 16.50 will get 0.0025 BTC. You dont have to overbid that one, just raise last bidder a little. please post here, and not in PM Title: Re: [TASK] reward for helping me UP an auction on eBay Post by: r3wt on June 21, 2013, 07:10:11 AM you realize you have just commited a felony by posting this right? this practice is known as shill bidding, and will land you time in the big house.

Quick way to get in trouble. Quoted for posterity. (I've seen similar or worse questions before, and noone removed them).
They deleted my account, my e-mail with all the messages and support told me to fuck off. USA = world police US residents in internet = moral chivalry Ok, fine, I call it off, and will not pay anyone to rig my auction by a buck. You win. Only way for eBay to notice this "felony" would be if someone ratted me out. Next time, i'll bring someone local for this and that's all. Title: Re: [TASK] reward for helping me UP an auction on eBay Post by: PrintMule on June 21, 2013, 07:56:31 AM While at it I also must say that eBay auction system could see some improvements.
1st - no automated bidding or reserve prices and maximum bidding. 2nd - no last minute bidding. If someone bids at the end of the auction - auction is prolonged by the amount of time, chosen by owner of the item, ie 10 minutes. 3nd - could set price increments. If you share your link via mail, twitter and etc, ebay shortens it Title: Re: [TASK] reward for helping me UP an auction on eBay Post by: Chrithu on June 21, 2013, 11:30:34 AM While at it I also must say that eBay auction system could see some improvements. 1st - no automated bidding or reserve prices and maximum bidding. 2nd - no last minute bidding. Their fucked up system was the reason I quit using ebay as a private seller long ago and returned to using classifieds in the local newspaper and peddlers markets. As a buyer and a seller I'm very satisified how ebay works right now. As a buyer I do use some legal tricks to buy cheap and as a seller I also use some tricks to make the price go up ; ))) p.s. "Reserve price" ; ) Title: Re: [TASK] reward for helping me UP an auction on eBay Post by: PrintMule on June 22, 2013, 07:39:15 AM While at it I also must say that eBay auction system could see some improvements. 1st - no automated bidding or reserve prices and maximum bidding. 2nd - no last minute bidding. As a buyer and a seller I'm very satisified how ebay works right now. As a buyer I do use some legal tricks to buy cheap and as a seller I also use some tricks to make the price go up ; ))) p.s. "Reserve price" ; ) 1st - maximum bidding is the one I loathe the most. I want to buy an item - I bid 10$ and set maximum to 100$. If someone (shilling or not) raises my automatic bid to , say 50$ - I'll simply refuse to buy it later. Seller will be pissed off, but who cares, right? Having bots for stuff like that is different, and no a big % of people will be using bots, so I'm fine with them. Reserve price is not so bad, but it's fee could be in percentage, not a fixed one. Like 2% for example. Otherwise for small auctions it's too high. 2nd - while it was this feature which attracted most buyer to ebay in the first place, thinking that they can outsnipe each other and that their greed will be rewarded. Maybe eBay audience is matured enough for improved auction system, which can be run alongside the other, in a test mode for a start. 3rd - if 2nd one is set in motion it will be possible to increase auction time with 1 cent bids, making it endless. So there needs to be some rules to prevent that. Like a price increment when bidding, and maybe some restriction to bid less than some total % in x amount of time. Title: Re: [TASK] reward for helping me UP an auction on eBay Post by: lbr on June 22, 2013, 04:59:32 PM 1st - ok, I got it.. yeah that sux, but there is 'second offer' option and you can always contact ebay, sooner or later such buyers will be banned. I thought of simple botting.. ah, my friend's bot screwed up somehow and made a bid of 17500 EUR on the item with ~40EUR value ; ) luckily no one lifted price above 75EUR ; )
Anyway it is impossible to prevent any kind of bots, since there is no way to determine if that's a bot or a human, granted if bot is implemeted 'correctly'. Actually 2 and 3 do make sense, though I personally find it a bit more complicated in comparison how ebay works now. |
