This'd be the first time the check cashing scam might actually be employed in an ethical way.

As in, various unfrequentable lowlifes (US gov't, various corporations - Apple chief among them (http://seclists.org/dailydave/2007/q1/289) - etc) have managed to create this illegal and antisocial arrangement where legitimate research (into how their products suck) is being harassed under color of the law. Helping those researchers remain anonymous while feeding the various harassment databases with random people off the street may very well be the right thing to do.
