Conduct your own researched about the company . There are lots of ICO today but some of them or most of them are scammers . Start by searching the office on google then try to research the teams including CEO etc. . Reads also some review about the site .

Before you buy ICO you have to check the company:
- What is in the background
- How good they project
- How (many channel) they communicate (facebook, telegram, twitter, youtube, slack....)
- How many followers they have
- How old they idea (project plan)
- Who is in they team and advisor
- What is in road map
So as you can see many point you have to check. If everything is ok you can participiant :-)

You need to study market and analyse things in the real world... Not all promise are real.

In the ICO world, it's better to think of it as "Most promises are fake."

Please be careful when picking any project: pay attention at the whitepaper and the team.

What I always look for:
1. Is the team good? Enough people for what they want to achieve, and good background?
2. How big is the hard cap? I like ICO's with great potential and low hard cap
3. Is the project something that will be used by a lot of people? Do you see any future in the project?
4. What happens to unsold coins? Unsold coins should be burned or airdropped to the investors.
5. Read through the white paper. Many investors don't bother doing that.

What I do is simply looking for the problem the ICO is trying to solve and what unique features does it have over other possible new currencies

Do research.

If it has no white paper ignore it.

If it just a standard ec20 token with nothing behin it. ignore it.

That's not enough for long term investment, although it might be good enough to justify flipping a token onto greater fools after a decent gain. One should look for more than hype and vapor ware. No matter what features are promised, there should be a strong proof of concept and a whitepaper that goes much further than vague promises.

read the white paper , check out the team resume , crowd-funding and participants
ICOs are more risky than coins

It's not easy. You need to analyze their team, their project and also their roadmap. Be ware of feedbacks or ICO ratings because they could be fake ones.
