Title: Idea for MtGox competitors
Post by: xavier on June 22, 2013, 05:58:30 AM
Hi,

Just an idea here for any competitors to MtGox.

Many people are worried right now about the USD withdrawal situation, and that they cannot move dollars out of MtGox.

So, an idea for any new exchanges looking for business? Offer free bitcoin deposits, free USD/Bitcoin trades and free USD withdrawals for any existing MtGox customers who sign up in the next 2 weeks, or alternatively for a 2 week period.

Post the offer on the forums & also email that long list of MtGox customer emails that was leaked back in 2011. You could grow your revenue 5x overnight.

I would personally like somebody to step in and do this, because I actually am using MtGox and would like to move some of my USD away from them as cheaply as possible :D .. So this thread is not just for public benefit :D :D

How do you expect a new exchange to pay for lawyers without trading fees? This could only work with a massive amount of money (>100 million USD) -  I'm pretty sure that nobody who is on bitcointalk owns that much.

If I wanted to start a currency exchange I wouldn't start it in the U.S. (and not with USD).

Where would you start it and in which currency?

Starting a business by spamming is NOT a good idea!

Things I'd like to see in an exchange:

  • Based in a strategic location (somewhere with "friendly" banking, cayman islands, etc...), or even better an exchange that was government owned by some small island country.
  • 2-3 confirmation deposits
  • Fast USD Wire Transfers
  • Fully featured API (all Gox API features + even more features)
  • Low fees (0.5% and below)
  • AJAX trading (I like the way Gox has implement AJAX into almost every function)
  • They are open to suggestions and continually adding new features

Fuck you.

"Oh, is it really cold at the North Pole, is it really difficult to get material up there and do the polar bears eat up your personnel? I have an idea, offer free sky resort services for America's poor but entitled, bankrupt but pretentious, stupid but clueless."

Fuck you. Seriously.

Here's the right idea: oh, our government sucks and we are criminals just for living there (http://polimedia.us/trilema/2012/the-crime-of-being-american/)? Don't worry dear World, we'll fix it completely at the next elections, accept our profuse apologies in the meanwhile.
