Every single person would shut that miner right back off when their phone battery died in an hour.

Its a terrible idea.

Electroneum is working on this you can check them out. They are revolutionizing thru mobile phone mining. Not sure what exactly that does or how it is done.

You are a few years behind the times but then again to Newb's, everything old is New to them... Several Major Players already floated that idea / ICO and took in millions from Investards. ref Smartphone Mining Chips (http://openruby.com/bitcoin/pages/49979884-bitcoin-startup-21-unveils-product-plan-mining-chips-for). and full article from PC World here (https://www.pcworld.com/article/2923812/this-wellfunded-startup-could-turn-bitcoin-mining-and-the-chip-industry-on-its-head.html).

For a myriad of obvious reasons like processing power (minuscule to what is needed) to battery life and more serious gotcha's it failed of course. However the core concept behind the software was reborn as the 'voluntary' Monero mining that several sites such as PirateBay have you run in the background liu of showing ads while you are using their sites.

Phone miners are not a bad idea as the number of phone users in the world is huge. Imagine your phone calling and being able to work as a miner. This is really a potential project.

Mining using your cellphone might be a terrible idea, it is easier to manipulate you can just use signal jammers and stop the mining operation.

Yes, there are already such projects. But as a rule they create only the appearance of mining .. Something like a cloud-based mining. But a full-scale phone mining I do not think that our the best smart-phones will stand

Electronuem android mobile app is currently down for maintenance.
It is really exciting if we can also mine using our smartphones, I hope manufacturers can develop a processor of snapdragon and mediatek that has the ability for mining. Unfortunately, 21 BitShare technology didn't come out.

Electroneum works on it and that's why they could do successful ICO. But actually it will be not a real mining. It will be mining simulation and you will get ETN for keeping their app open.
