Another way to explain coin speed:
The speed of a coin depends on the how fast it was transferred into the game. It is calculated by the difference of the time when the transaction was seen first in the network (timereceived timestamp) and the time when it was included in a block. The lower this value the faster the coin.

Additional information regarding the extra prize:
If there are two or more winners at the same speed, the one who has played first will win the extra prize.
