Title: Mining with a 15" Retina MacBook Pro or Intel 1240V2
Post by: cyclops on June 22, 2013, 05:37:40 PM
Hi,

I want to start just to learn a bit, mining some bit coins.

My available hardware is a rMBP 15" With an Nvidia 650M and 2,6Ghz i7

Or a Intel Xeon 1240V2 3.4Ghz with a integrated GPX (Its a server)

I donīt want to get rich by mining, but want to know how much will it take to me to mine a single Bitcoin.

Do you recomend me to join a pool or only to mine alone?

Thanks a lot

It's going to take years on that piece of hardware to generate a full bitcoin, and you'll need to join a pool.

Run for 2 weeks and you might get ~0.05 BTC.

Forget mining with your MacBook.

Mine(also a Retina) still suffering from this "test" I made in 2012...

Ok so MacBook Pro retina

So I should use the Xeon and join a pool, I've been reading a lot and there are a lot of different ones, with different "share rates" and that sort of things which I dont really understand :P.

With my hard which type should I join?

GPU mining is dead. Get an ASIC or mine another alt.

LOL - He's not even talking GPU anymore... he's asking about his XEON.

cyclops, spend some time reading the forum first. You're about three years too late to mine with your current hardware.

Sorry skimmed it through, didn't notice. Since it's a CPU then you're much more late for the party.

Well that's an obvious duhhhh... You could've a couple of years ago but now without an ASIC it's pretty much not possible.
