Title: Is this one of BTC's Market Manipulative tactics?
Post by: kingaltcoins on November 15, 2017, 08:04:40 PM
I was planning to buy an Antminer S9 but this caught my attention and eventually changed my decision:

Albeit having the prices mentioned in BTC, BCH and LTC, how can they impose potential buyers to buy through BCH only? I think it is a kind of market manipulative technique where Bitmain is redirecting its clients into buying a "scamcoin" and eventually pumping its price up!

This kind of monopoly must end! What do you think?

Market manipulation is the interruption of a fair free market through attempts to mislead or lie to people.

What BITMAIN is doing here is simply deciding which coin to accept for their products, which in itself is objectively not a market manipulation tactic nor any sort of problem at all.  If anything, it's a good example of a company exercising their right to make business decisions like this.

BITMAIN know that there is high demand for their miners and they are using this demand for the gain of a currency that they support.  That is perfectly legal and also ethically fine.

If you want to pay in BTC, you will have to just complain to BITMAIN or buy from a different company.

Wow, i have never expected to see this coming from a serious bussiness like this, it has shocked me a bit.
Why are they only accepting bitcoin cash? they are going to lose a lot of money on the exchange to bitcoin, it just makes no sense at all.Maybe this is one of those techniques from all those corporations of miners who want to rip off bitcoin, and this is why they are only accepting this coin
Of course that it is annoying, i dont know why it is still happening, it is a monopoly, and they are only trying to increase the usage of bitcoincash, who is already a dead coin.

Of course it is a market manipulative tactic. The only thing that makes Bitcoin Cash sustainable for now is Bitmain. To make it short, they are the creators, the animators and the finality of Bitcoin Cash. Such a monopoly and an importance of a single entity is for me worrying, and thus demonstrate Bitcoin Cash is just a scam.

Honestly during that time where they posted that up, the coin was receiving a heavy pump, so it's safe to say that they're doing that to profit more from their own miners. While they are notoriously known to support the BCH hype, still we could not consider that as manipulating the market in any way since they have the right to demand what payment method would they accept in exchange for their goods, in this case the miners.

If I were BITMAIN, I'd also like to choose a coin that has the tendency to net me more profits than bitcoin. I'm not defending what they did in here but again, it's still legally fine for them to accept whatever they want for their goods.

You seem to be quite defensive towards Bitmain's inevitable tactics.
I have no problem with them accepting Bitcoin cash exclusively to thrive their business but they are certainly misleading the potential buyers. If not, then they could have only mentioned their products' prices in BCH only (which they didn't).

If you still don't think they are taking advantage of their monopoly to gain BCH's traction, then you certainly don't understand how big whales control the market!

Can't wait for Bitcoin to change its POW algorithm to put an end to this dirty tactics...
