Title: Difference between PRO and Gaming cards
Post by: elissa on November 16, 2017, 02:01:39 PM
Will the PRO graphics cards last longer than the Gaming cards? I am asking about AMD cards.

Or it doesn't make any difference related to life expectancy?
P.S. related to mining of course

Did you mean PRO=professional cards?
Pro cards are really expensive and for that reason there is no point using them from mining.
The ROI will be huge if not impossible.

Yes, I mean professional cards.
But still, do they have a longer life expectancy? Or what is the difference actually between them?

Let say for example VEGA 64 and VEGA Frontier Edition. Only big difference between them is the memory 8gb vs 16gb.
Enterprise edition is not made of better quality components.
They both use same architecture and made of same components.
The lifespan has to be the same if you use them both for mining 24/7.

I believe the user is talking about GIGABYTE's, a manufacturer, graphics cards. Like RX 580 Aouros (PRO) and RX 580 Gaming X (Gaming), am i right?
Generally, the PRO cards are slightly better specced than the gaming. If you have the money to spare and not in a hurry to ROI, then you could always go for the "PRO" version.

I understand talking about the collection Radeon and FirePro. The use of professional graphics cards in servers/workstations determines their form factor - they are usually single-slot. Cooling system of turbine type and therefore quite noisy. I don't know what cooling memory and VRM, but I suppose that is no better than the "civilian" models. Which are specially made for games, that is, assume a large load on the memory, core and power supply system. Of course they use premium components. But agree that leading brands(Sapphire, Asus, MSI, Gigabyte) will use in their cards got hit. They monitor the reputation. But the price have big difference.
For example, a feature of professional cards AMD: "AMD Eyefinity: Drive up to six 4K displays". They have a six port mini-DisplayPort that the average user is not necessary. Of course this technology was a regular card.
The situation is similar with NVIDIA.

Thanks! It is strange why the components are the same but the price is double...
