Title: Multi-Sig Address
Post by: billiebob on November 16, 2017, 06:58:56 PM
I am new and want some feedback on this:  I am purchasing a service online and will pay via bitcoin when service is completed.  The seller has offered the following instructinos and I want to know if this appears legit or if there is something here that would allow the seller to scam me.

Go to coinb.in>> Multi sig address>>Public keys "generate in browser">>Generate>>Note the 3 strings (public, private & address)>>Share public key with seller>>Seller sets up the escrow>>Seller will send me the multi sig address generated from my public key>>My public key and multi sig public key>>Seller will send me the redeem script to unlock payment when job is complete>>I open the validate tab and paste the redeem script to validate>>I pay to the multi sig address>job starts>>I use my private key with the redeem script to unfreeze the payment to the seller.

Multi-signature addresses require more than one private key before the funds can be released, so yes, there's nothing fishy in there unless he's with the escrow and they're both trying to scam you. The only thing you need to learn on your deal is if the seller is with the escrow since most multisig addresses only requires 2-of-3 signatures before any funds can be controlled.
