Title: Membergroups - What do those colored coins mean? (UPDATED) Post by: DiamondCardz on June 24, 2013, 04:42:10 AM The old thread seems to be out-dated, so I'm making a new one. It's basically just been re-worded.
A common question that newbies will ask is: "Can I trust someone based on the amount of coins they have?", and the answer is that it is entirely up to you now. You are ranked based on a formula that looks at your posts over periods of time, so higher ranks such as Hero Members have usually used bitcointalk for at least a year while being active. While it doesn't guarantee they are fully trusted, it means they probably have some knowledge of Bitcoin and some trust in the community - if you have a lot to lose when trading, use an escrow service. The regular ranks that regular users can earn are: Brand New, Newbie, Jr. Member, Member, Full Member, Sr. Member, and Hero Member. There are also sub-ranks, which exist either to warn people of scammers or to show appreciation to someone who has donated to Bitcointalk. These are: Donator, VIP and SCAMMER. Donators and VIPs have access to a private forum, and are also able to change their user title. VIPs can also change their username. SCAMMERS (http://[/url) have many restrictions, for example, they can not edit their posts. Last of all, there are staff ranks for official Bitcointalk moderators and administrators. These are: Staff, Moderator, Global Moderator, Administrator, and Founder. Staff members can delete, edit and move posts, and have access to a special staff board, as well as the Donator board. The activity number is determined using the following formula: time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration activity = min(time * 14, posts) Activity is updated automatically every 30 minutes. For instance, if I make 2 posts in one of the two-week periods, I will gain 2 activity. Want to become a Donator or VIP? Send a pm to theymos (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=35). (UPDATED) Post by: BookLover on July 28, 2013, 09:23:16 PM The activity number is determined using the following formula: time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration activity = min(time * 14, posts) Activity is updated automatically every 30 minutes. For instance, if I make 2 posts in one of the two-week periods, I will gain 2 activity. What does "min" stand for and why is their a comma between 14 and posts? I seem too have missed something obvious and have no clue how activity is calculated. Help would be greatly appreciated. (not in btc) ;) Title: Re: Membergroups - What do those colored coins mean? (UPDATED) Post by: indicasteve on July 28, 2013, 10:33:53 PM min() is a function that takes the smaller of the 2 numbers (separated by a comma).
