Title: Do you bill your customers by bitcoin? How is it compared to cc billing ?
Post by: vadult on November 17, 2017, 11:57:44 AM
Hi
We are running an adult paysite and trying to bill our customers by bitcoin. I tried to put hosted payment pages from bitpay into our landing page. However nobody buys our premiums compare to credit card billing.
So is there a way to bill customers via bitcoin as like as credit card billing? What would you suggest? How can they easily pay via bitcoin by using paypal or credit card?

I am asking this question especially for website owners who have membership system and billing their customers via several ways like cc, paypal, bitcoin.
How do you increase your sales by bitcoin billing?

In my opinion, if i were in the owner position, i would bill my customer by bitcoin in case it is possible. Using bitcoin in trading, shopping in real life especially website stuff would make customer interested in what you are doing and i think it would drag along many advantages and benefit for your business as bring you more customer and people who are curious. Beside, billing bitcoin for customer is a nice way to make bitcoin become more popular and i like it !

I tried to put bitpay buttons into the payment page but none of them used by potential customers. Because they dont have any knowledge on bitcoin i guess.

No. I can't pay customers by bitcoin. Because my government don't accept bitcoin. But I hope one day I can do it and also my government accept bitcoin.

How do you increase your sales by bitcoin billing?
Have you considered offering some sort of promotional rate for folks who want to pay by Bitcoin? Maybe a small discount or a free month or something like that... It would help promote the fact you have a new payment option and with Bitcoins current trend, probably would not cost too much in lost revenue as the gains in BTC value would hopefully offset it. People love "free stuff"™ and discounts etc... You can guarantee that if users can save a buck or three by using Bitcoin, they'll do it! :P

If you have a customer base who have opted in for mailing... Highlight the new payment option in an email campaign.

Social media?

I mean, this stuff is basically marketing 101... Just putting a "pay with Bitcoin" button isn't going to do much... You need to basically have the equivalent of giant flashing neon signs highlighting it... "People"™ are lazy and "blind" :P

Yeah, it's depending much on your local goverment. If they don't accept Bitcoin at an official payment so i guess it's illegal to bill your customers by Bitcoin as the OP said.

Yes but it is not about promo offers. Its more about the customers don't know how to pay by bitcoin. So there must be a way to provide them a solution which supports easy bitcoin transaction by known payment methods: Like they can buy bitcoin via paypal and pay us via bitcoin easily...

I think your thinking is a little flawed here. Why would a customer go "Paypal -> Bitcoin -> You"... when they can go "Paypal -> You"? Likewise for CC... why "CC -> Bitcoin -> You"? Where is the "value add" for the customer to get involved in Bitcoin? ???

If you're not offering any incentive for using Bitcoin, what is the point? Only people who already have Bitcoins will use Bitcoins to pay you... otherwise, they'll just pay with Paypal or CC.

Because bitcoin, having a btc wallet, paying by btc etc.  all are unknown to majority of them. And when they cannot use btc they dont pay. Thats why having a 3rd party (cc billing or paypal) implementation on btc would be a great way to start.

Ask your parents, grandparents what they know about paying by bitcoin?

And also ask what they know about credit card billing?

Moreover I dont want to use credit card billing and giving my personal id to payment gateways. Bitcoin billing is more secure and private.

One reason is when there is a currency translation involved and a fee for that.

Another reason is when one of the two parties lives in a country where there is an "official exchange rate" and a "street exchange rate" for their currency. In this case they may get 10x the value by using bitcoin. PayPal and credit cards go through the banking system hence are uniformly at the official exchange rates.

Of course in this case the authorities may well have made bitcoin illegal and for those very reasons.

Bitcoin is an awesome instrument for gambling activity. Nowadays laws are very freaky to gambling sphere and not any bank allows to work with casinos... Bitcoin is a way to hide all transactions from government and banks.
I think the same situation in adult sphere

Thats one reason. But i think the main reason is majority of customers do not have knowledge on how to pay by bitcoin.

You are right, those high fees are hard for small transactions. It hurts especially when sometimes its almost 2$ for a 40$ transaction. Too much I must say. Hope they implement lightning network quick.
