Title: Ethereum haven't really moved..
Post by: highperspective on November 17, 2017, 06:16:18 PM
Ethereum haven't really moved in a long time compared to the BTC increase. What can be the reasons for this? Are people not as enthusiastic about Ethereum as they were, or is because of new scalable projects on the Bitcoin blockchain?

It will need some time before there is some more space for Ethereum. The most people are just looking at Bitcoin and they are scared to buy something else!

Yes, the observation is right but since the beginning of this week Ethereum has been rising and has made a new high  for the past one month. Ethereum is about $331. I think Ether is on its way up.

Right now ethereum and other coins are out of investors interest because all of them are busy trying to figure out where bitcoin price is heading towards. People are just selling off their alts including ethereum to buy bitcoin and ride the current bitcoin wave.

When hype over bitcoin will be over than people will start to buy ethereum and other altcoins, Just hold your alts tightly.

Ethereum price has moved from 8$ to 300$ in less than a year while BTC price has moved from around $1000 to $8000. I think Ethereum has since more gain then btc this year.

First, bitcoin uptrend is somehow affecting ethereum and other alts from progressing. It is halting the grow of alts because investors cannot turn away from lucrative profit from bitcoin surge.

Another is that ethereum may have lost some of investors confidence because of the bugs that is showing up and the recent incident with the parity code. I think ethereum may need to look into those serious things before it can move forward again.

I agree with you here. Ethereum has grown quite a bit by a huge margin since the start of this year just like bitcoin and many other altcoins. I feel its growth has slowed down since Vitalik and the team are taking time to release the new features which is why investors are looking at other altcoins and bitcoin for short term profits. Once these features are released, I believe Ethereum will fly again to crazy levels. HODL. 8)

Only for now, but I do believed it will move up a weeks from now or months, I knew many of the ethereum holders waiting and holding for this token because ETH is next into bitcoin.

Yes, Ethereum has definitely been lingering lately and can't seem to move from the $300 mark. However I would consider this a good thing for those invested, it's remained calm and stable while alts and BTC have been all over the place. I think it will surge again, be ready for it.

Because ethereum is constantly dumped by the ICOs who exchange all their ethereum into fiat. That is why ethereum cannot break out from the current price.

I can probably say that your observation is on point.
Clearly even if we say we also love ethereum, everyone will still agree that they will choose bitcoin over ethereum over and over again. Simply because bitcoins are more reputable because of its age. That is why people will always choose bitcoins(not to mention the price of bitcoin).

yes for the right time some alts may moved toward that as of now we see that there is no movement of altcoin but sooner there will be so better to hold it just for now and we know that this is not for longer that having no movement of altcoin. Better to wait with patience and just hold it.

there are even more. It could be said the current altcoin price weakened
on the back of weakening prices or falling prices of virtual currencies
will be able to re-enter when there is a large purchase or
buy altcoin coins in general.
I hope Ethereum buys a lot

Before we had to buy ethereum to invest in icos. But nowadays even an ico has an ethereum based token to sell, they accept many other payment methods, so we dont need to buy ethereum to join icos.

If we see in general , majority of the people know only about the bitcoin as a cryptocurrency . So, with lesser recognition to Ethereum there is decent chance that it is growing slowly at present as compared to bitcoin. Even bitcoin took 3 to 4 years to get complete recognition by the people ,so will the other cryptocurrencies.

I too thought that Ethereum wasn't a buyer's coin, at least not since it moved away from $20 and kept going up. I think only miners are accumulating ETH now, and of course all those ICOs that accepted ETH mainly. Occasionally, I come across individual events that have made me rethink this. The first is the very few but prominent campaigns that are paying in ETH instead of Bitcoin. Yes, I know people say these are probably miners anyway or former ICOs just quietly launching new projects behind the scenes.

But I believe there are a growing number of companies now, especially those who plan on doing ICOs, that are buying up ETH with fiat, instead of Bitcoin. They feel it is more stable and can afford to pay people more "safely" on fiat basis, instead of being vulnerable to Bitcoin volatility.

ETH will begin to grow with a time. This is a common rule. ETH team work under the improvement its services. I heard that they plan to shortage producing of coins it will be entailed by the growing prices.
And now you can see price 359$!

You need a lot of money if you want to buy a bitcoin compare to ETH. ETH is less value compare to bitcoin so try to get first the ETH so that little by little you can move.

I might have been in agreement if this post were made before mid November, but have you seen the price of ETH recently? I would not call more than 10% gains a coin that has not really moved.

We have to get past the fact that the early crazy highs of April and May were just a wild ride for all alt coins. ETH had a $400 plus ATH but this was false demand created by those crazy ICO months. I think the $300 barrier was the real point to break past and if ETH can finish 2017 still well above it, then we can look to new records and a real move for ETH.

Ethereum is the best of altcoins,it made a huge bump in price from start of the year 2017 after the bump the eth price also wavy but in recent times the eth manages stable in it price,so maybe a chance for another price bump in the next year.So don't sell your ETH it has great potential as bitcoin do.

lol, why not? most people are still buying etherium more than bitcoin because etherium is a hell cheap and it is also good for longer terms of investment and trading but mostly it doesnt cost too much when sending transactions plus it is mainly used when sending altcoin and token to an online exchange. ico has an etherium based token or erc20 token but that dooesnt mean you dont need eth to sell or exchange them.

Ethereum is a good cryptocurrency but it's value is laying flat for a long time with some various reasons. Two weeks ago Bitcoin Cash was suddenly pumped hard and almost reach halfway with Bitcoin's price but people were complaining and tagged Bitcoin Cash a bubble and fake pump. This is what will happen if one day Ethereum will pump hard as Bitcoin Cash do because if there's a rising in value of an Altcoin - Bitcoin at the same time maybe affected and possibly Bitcoin's price will drop down like what happened in Bitcoin Cash event.
That's why to continue rise of Bitcoin's price will Altcoins sacrifice.

Ethereum rose significantly this year and many are still bullish for its next year's growth. Some forecast that ethereum price will hit $500 at the beginning of 2018 and will continue to grow onward. If this happen, ethereum will be one of the most promising cryptocurrencies after bitcoin, despite being overtaken by bitcoin cash.

Ethereum is less volatility compared to bitcoin that's why their price is still sticking $300+. But we've never experience of dumping it to much compared to other altcoins or even with btc.

Markets move in cycles. You could have said the opposite thing back in March of this year. In March, Bitcoin was reeling from a test of the previous all-time highs, combined with bad news about the ETF rejection. During BTC's ~30% correction at that time, the price of ETH rose 400%.

My general feeling is that news catalyzes price movement, but it doesn't dictate it. There was natural supply/resistance in the $1200s for BTC, and bears capitalized on the bad news to dump the market.

There is not currently much news to catalyze a price movement in ETH. However, the market has been consolidating bullishly for many months now. Sideways, with higher lows, coming off a major rally. I suspect that when the spotlight leaves BTC that some of that hype will move back to ETH.

It runs so many transactions as do all the cryptos altogether including bitcoin.

it's price increased enormously - since I bought it when it was $11, it increased 34 times and it is only the very beginning.

Due to its abundance on the blockchain there is not much we can do about the price of ether itself. It can be clearly seen that the supply is unlimited and there is always heavy emission of the ether and explains why it is not getting pumped when we raise 5 -50K of Ethereum for an ICO project. People are buiyng the ether really quickly and in greater amount possible but still things aint moving. Thats the effect of demand and supply, where though demand is large but the supply is even more than that.

Most of the Cryptocurrency was in flat or in the down trend since August. All attention was focused on bitcoin and his forks. Now the etherium has system updates, the last of them are casper. The etherium will update the highs if bitcoin than anything does not draw attention to itself again.

In my opinion, Ethereum will pump a lot soon because they are going to release a lot of update and good news like for exemple they will switch from Proof of Work to proof of Stake and if you own a lot of Eth then you can mine it, I think you need to have around 1000 ETH or something. So people are going to buy a lot of ETH in the next coming weeks

There are really times on any crypto coin on where its price are just somehow stabilizing or doesnt have a big movement at all on its price. These are the times that there no much demand or being traded off.
ETH is a good potential coin and it is not correlated anytime on bitcoins price movement. Either btc is pumping or decreasing eth would really differ on its own way.For now we have seen that it moved $80+ on its recent price which is on $300 ranges which signifies that gradual increase is sustainable.

Cant really agree with that statement!! Ethereum will be far more successful than BTC ever will!!
It can be only the statement of a person living in the fools paradise. How could Ethereum beat bitcoin? Ethereum supply is too high to let it's price go high. The demand for Ethereum is not doubt high but not higher than the demand for bitcoin. Bitcoin is directly bought by the users while Ethereum is bought by both the developers for token development and by users. However Bitcoin is out of the range of Ethereum. It will take it years for it to reach to the current price of bitcoin.

Yeah, i agree that it will take a long time until ethereum can reach bitcoin price or even marketcap. We've seen a lot of growth from ethereum this year because there's a lot of icos that are using it but later when the ico bubble burst, it's hard for ethereum price to move while bitcoin can still going as a limited asset.

Unambiguously, the price of the Ethereum will grow. I have not read a single prediction that the Ethereum will fall or remain in the same position. There are no grounds for this. Look at the last month. He grew by 60 - 100 dollars during this time. This is not a bad result.

Ethereum hasnt show much rise right now, but by the end of the year, it should rise to around $400 or more.

ETH have their own potential so it may increase in the future.

Why I can say that ?
Let's take a look on Microsoft who use ETH as their transaction. That big company won't choose anything carelessly without well prepared calculation.
So it's just a matter of time !

Well, that escalated quickly! Bulls just stepped in and pushed the price up $25 in a couple hours. We just crossed $400! This price level is right where the early September top was, so I suspect we will see some resistance here.

But that's a 40% rise in 2 weeks. Even measured against BTC's recent moves, that's a pretty big gain. I'm sure glad that I didn't get shaken out of my ETH bags while it was sideways for so long.

On one hand it was about time for an upward correction for Ethereum. On the other hand it has risen so fast I'm afraid it will fall back again.
