With ASIC mining, there is much higher risk of the hashpower to be centralized in few hands and those people might try to dictate what should happen with that coin. You can see it now with Bitcoin and BCH - some greedy rich miners want to centralize Bitcoin in their hands by abusing their hashpower.

I am surprised that people are still using mining equipment to mine coins. The difficulty should be high on all coins by now. |
