Title: WTB a Sublime Text license.
Post by: Jaxkr on June 25, 2013, 06:05:24 PM
Sublime Text unfortunately doesn't accept Bitcoin yet.
I was wondering if someone would be willing to act as middleman and buy the license for me with USD using my name and email.
I am willing to pay 0.65 BTC. PM or Bitmessage me if you'd be willing to do me this favor. :)

That's a lot of coin for a text editor.

Why is that license so expensive? Why is it 70usd more than notepad++?

I'll do it for 0.7

PM if interested !

It's cross platform. Notepad++ is Windows only. As a Linux and OS X user, I like to have something I can run without Wine.
Also, it's scriptable and extendable. I like it, and want to support the project by buying a license.
I'll PM you when I get home. Thanks!

Sublime Text may be downloaded and evaluated for free, however a license must be purchased for continued use.

You can continue using it indefinitely without a license. You only are obliged to have a key for commercial use. It doesn't just "stop working" or anything - it just pops up with a dialog asking you to register every 15 or so saves.

When I emailed the creator about a student license he said that he wouldn't do one because we can just keep ignoring the dialog that pops up sometimes and that's the price we pay. The reason I asked about a license is because as a open source/free software user I thought it would be fitting to have *any* non-open software I used fully licensed and legit.

Yup, it's an insane price no matter how you put it. He's basically asking to get pirated.
