I think it is better to buy some btc or ETH now. Other altcoins needs to recover.

Make your own study for you not to loose that money, but for me buying XEM and BTC today is a good choice for a long term investment. Bitcoin will continue to soar higher and XEM is the sleeping giant. Trade wisely, make your own strategy so you can make good money.

Ripple and Stellar would be the good choice, both are related to banking sector. I bet it'll give you the good return in future.

REQ and KNC, big plans ahead for 2018

For me utility token like papyrus and powerledger would be the a good choice in 2018 I bet it'll give a good return in future for it's holder in the future.

Divide your 1000$ investment among the most trusted coins, I mean those that are really established already. Try considering Ethereum first of all. That is the safest for me and the most trusted among all altcoins. It will definitely reach $1,000 sometime in 2018. Add some Waves also. And then you may also consider adding Stratis and Ripple. These are also one of the most trusted coins.  

I recommend NEO for long term investment. Lots of advantages you get from this coin and in the future this coin will become the favorite coin of china and recently a lot of good news from the development of this coin  :)

i think the best altcoin to invest are waves and etheruem, small amount profit to invest and growing up their market cap price.

The best altcoins for me would be Minex, SONM and TenX. I would put 40% in Minex, SONM 30% and TenX 30%.
Minex will give you passive income, I highly recommend picking some up.
SONM and TenX are great for mid-long term hold.

Investing in these before 2018 will be a great decision.

If you are looking for long term investment then I would suggest go with some coin that has already been around for some time and about which you know. ETH, ETC and LTC are good choices. Waves and ripple are good if you know enough about them. Just don't invest in some new shitcoin, it might just die in couple of months and you will have nothing.

As a long-term investment I will only choose etherum as the best investment available today. The stable etherum price makes me confident to buy it. In addition, the level of popularity also makes us not worried about the decline in etherum prices. I've seen lots of altcoin in circulation and there are so many altcoins that only last for a while and experience a high price correction. So it's very difficult to choose a coin other than etherum, for me comfort is a top priority and I do not want to waste my invested money. Investment and assets are everything, with assets we can get a chance to become rich and because of assets also then we can experience poverty.

If you can't figure this out on your own then you should not be "investing" in unregulated ICO shit coin schemes for profit on insecure govt compliant "exchangers"

There are will be many option, but by devide to mininum 2 altcoin will be great strategy. In my opinion good and strong fundamental altcoin/ token is ETH,DASH,LTC,WAVES,XMR,OMG and POWR.  By make investment in these coin will promising profit in the longterm.

ETH and NEO

My best bet for a long term investment with a new project for now is Utrust having a solid team, Paypal-like project but i will not put that 1,000$ in just 1 basket.. ;)

Pay attention to this shitcoin, at the beginning of 2018 he has a release of the project and the rate will be much higher, because now he is at the very bottom.

In my opinion, we've invested $ 400 in Ethereum tokens and $ 400 in chips. $ 200 in other altcoins of the moment, in 2018 the growth may be great for these Altcoins. (Waves and Ethereum).

If you would like to make investment for longterm, in my opinion these altcoin are ETH, DASH, WAVES and POWR. But ETH is strongest altcoin now and invest in it by more like by portfolio 60% then for others 40%,  it will be good. And I think this portfolio is good risk management.

in my opinion the best altcoin for me now is ethereum, because its easy to transact here and faster growing up their market cap price, so that your investment in longterm will be a big profitable to you.

I think you should not put all your money in one altcoins, which is too risky. Maybe you can put part of your money to buy btc or eth, which is a stable investment, and a part for altcoins in cheap price like avt and so on, also you can put some to buy ico tokens like earth token.

The coin of my choice is LTC. Very good long-term and the forecast looks very good for Spring 2018 (Feb-March)

Dash is another currency that is worth considering.

As the number of people involved in cryptocurrencies increases, prices on cryptos will go even higher.

Pick any of the top-10 and you will most likely profit from such investment.

You should think over your portfolio and not to push all in alts.

There should be BTC, ETH, XRP, LTC and some other solid coins if you consider.

I like LTC too.  Diversified from 100% BTC to 60% BTC, 40% LTC.  I feel LTC is underpriced, the atomic swap announcement yesterday is very exciting as well.

I will choose to invest $1000 in ETH, Neo and Omg. These coins are good for long term. However, please do your research before investing.

I would advice you to diversify with the amount of money you have and buy a few of the altcoins I am about to suggest, probably you might start making profit within a period of a few years since you are willing to hold for long term. I would recommend that you consider investing in monero, litecoin, dash, waves, komodo and some ether.

I think for a thousand of dollars you'll be able to get more profit with Bitcoin but in Altcoin group Ethereum or LiteCoin or Bitcoin Cash is my choice for long-term investment.

I would check out Propthereum.io for both long term and short term investment. They are an asset backed cryptocurrency on the blockchain expecting a 1566% coin appreciation in a short period of time. All proceeds raised from their ICO will be used to purchase A-grade property worldwide. This will generate a rental income and underlying value for the PTC token holder. This coin will be great to hold both long and short term.

NEO, Ethereum and eBTC

i will choose ethereum for a long term investment because ethereum have big supported by many people and community and although the price is not in high price but soon the price will be increase especially if bitcoin is at a stable price. beside ethereum, i will choose litecoin as my long term investment, litecoin is another coin that will give a lot of profit in future so i think if we only have this two coin beside bitcoin, it is enough for us to sell at the higher price.

I think the investment porfolio should be divided in parts and distributed among different projects to make investment safer. Besides obvious alts that proved their value over time like ETH, LTC, DASH and XMR, I think it is also good to dig deeper and find highly promising startups. There could be much bigger gains for the same time period.

I do currently have some of Cobinhood (promising project addressing to solve current issues with majority of cryptoexchanges), Electroneum (due to strong marketing team) and SONM (another Golem yet with closer milestones).

If you want to be safe, park half of your money in BTC and ETH.

Take a look at virtual bitcoin fork Bitcore BTX. Such a great project with huge potential and nice devs. Really technologically advanced version of father Bitcoin.

I think right now Ethereum looks pretty good - it's been building up to it's current point for months with smaller and smaller dips, might be about ready to blow!
