Title: Life after crypto?
Post by: fragout on November 20, 2017, 10:37:30 AM
Is there such a thing?
Personally i have to check the news/price of various cryptos at least every day but far more frequent than that.
What if you sold everything, would you still feel the need to check? hoping the price is crashing now of course instead of mooning.
Is there a way out?.
Is there a support group for crypto addicts?

Crypto anonymous is the name for crypto addicts.. I love the idea as all now needs to be anonymous.

Right now it's still a struggle of mass adoption but I think they can't help but to notice now that the btc is high and there are alot of altcoins that quite impressive and sneeking through the present technology. Before u know it majority of tech will be based from the crypto idea.

I'm still new to this so I don't know yet the life after as I don't think much about it yet. Still lot to learn. But Idk. it's either another idea could replace crypto or it will be full adapted

I personally check the market and read the news about 2-3 hours a day. But i dont take it like a job. It helps me disconnect from the daily stress.
But this is me who doesent have that much money in the crypto market. I think this can be as dangerous as gambling. When you invest what you cant loose then yes it can be very stressfull.
Thats why everyone says: The first rule in trading is to not invest what you can`t loose. This way you can keep it fun and exciting.

You are legendary and you are here longer then me, but I understand what you
talk about here. I wake up and one of the first things I do with morning coffee is
checking market cap!
I could not sell everything now, it is to early for me. I am still looking how to get
in with more money.
Why do you need support group? Cash out everything you have and go to some
mountain or island, without internet and computers. If you can quit now when things
starting to be very interesting!

I also feel that it is taking over my life a bit! As long as the prices keep increasing, I suppose I will continue to be addicted. I see this stopping once we have full mainstream adoption and prices reach long-term stability. But until we reach that point it is difficult to let go.

I join the crypto at mining first, mostly it's for fun on building rigs. I personally check the market about 10 min on breakfast and discuss with some mates during lunch time. It's interesting that they are investing on crypto as well.

I was away over a year from crypto. I sold my coins and focus on other things in life. At the beginning I was checking price like I will do when I was holding some coins then I stopped.
Looking from time perspective I learn hard way about patience, I was holding 2 years and 1 more could bring me profit $160K but I decided to quit I sold it for 2 BTC my NAV's (160.000) Why I back to crypto? I read in news about price spike and decided to go back and try one more time. Now I can say one thing, anything I decided to buy (ICO's) I will keep and  not sell until there is significant profit.
You can always leave crypto anytime, but If you don't have to sell - never ever do it. Is any of your investments hath in future you could regret. I had to admit I check price sometimes on my Blockfolio 5x time a day.

After I sold my coins in the market, I always checked it in the exchange if the price varies high or very low. I want to check it out if I failed to sell it early or not. I have tokens before, I always instinct that it will go higher but I am wrong, the tokens release in the market will go lower in the price of ICO. You should sell your token at the price of ICO before it's too late.

Crypto is basicly a job nowadays, so if you quit crypto, it's like you quit your job - well, atleast thats how i feel.

If you think that you cannot pull out of Cryptoworld then your probably a materialistic person and you need councelling  ;D ;D ;D

That's all for me, and I check prices and news every day, and it's fast becoming part of my job. I think this is a compulsive disorder, a disease!
It must be admitted that encrypting the money community and the blockchain is really great, but it should not be all life. When it seriously affects our personal lives, I think I should go to see a doctor. Addiction is not a good thing or a personal opinion.

Lol. I am not trading or holding any coin right know but I  still check some of the altcoins in a day for a few times no reason that I used to trade. I think it's because I want to know what will occur if I did not sell this coin earlier.

It's either this or work in a callcenter/waiter. I prefer making my own income with this instead of working under a boss. If I sold all my coins now I would have fiat money, what am I going to do with it? Waste it on unnecessary products so I feel better? Hell no I'm going to keep doing this until I have a decent pension or money to start a business.

For all you 30 - 40 year old nerds like me you remember WoW addiction?
I think it was at its peak around Burning Crusade and WotLK.

To me, crypto addiction is kind of like wow addiction.
at first, it can be exciting and all consuming.  I remember spending every free moment looking up icos, checking coinmarketcap, doing calculations, lurking on bitcointalk.
Buying a coin was exciting.  Seeing that coin go to red was depressing and nerve wracking.

A colleague of mine decided to cash out a couple months ago and made a hefty profit and you know what? He is right back in it.

Just like wow, people quit and try to go on with their lives and then find themselves right back at it.

Of course, wow is just a game that people eventually grow out of, but crypto is definitely here to stay.
With that in mind, I really don't think there is any way "out".
Even if you sell off all your investments, crypto will eventually become a normal part of mainstream life.
At least some you guys can be hipster and say you were there from the beginning.

I think its really hard to move on without crypto if crypto is really the passion and the thing that makes us excited everyday even there are a lots of losses but more winnings. The most important and enjoyful from crypto is the experience. Even crypto enthusiast that is in this industry for more than 5 years is still learning more because crypto is being deep time to time. Goodluck everyone in your journey!

I faced with this kind of an addiction a couple of years ago. The decision was to choose top cryptocurrencies and invest for a long-term. in this scenario, you will stop worrying about price fluctuations and over time, such excitement and will be avoided.

I think I got addicted to crypto very very soon after I first properly learnt how to use a Bitcoin wallet earlier this year. It was not even about money or price at the time, I just got very excited that I finally found out or understood exactly what Bitcoin was and how it worked (see, I always thought of it as another Paypal before).

I still like reading and talking about crypto every day, but I do not check prices every hour or even every day. I usually only know about news or new ATH from this forum. Still a big fan, no longer addict.

I agree, daily trading is very hard. And newbie do it on inappropriate exchange. Take bittrex for example, good altcoin choice but 0,5% fee for 2 trade (buy and sell). So you have your investment that will must be higher than that to increase your stack.

The bad thing about "crypto-addiction" is that you may be obsessed with money.
If you're interested in technology and reading about it you can see it as a hobby.

Same thing goes for stock market traders. Professional traders can fathom their own emotions and not overexaggerate.

You will need to keep your own life-work balance here (even if trading/investing isn't your actual job, treat it as one.

I hope never to have to realise such a situation because that means cryptos will survive and I will have made a success of it. I guess like many things it can be addictive and you'll probably never truly stop, even if you sold all your coins you would still check in to see what's happening.

Do you surf the web every day? Do you watch youtube every day? Do you read the e-mail and the news every day?
That's today's normal. I don't think that you need a support group for this. Of course, when you go to holiday you could just take a break from everything for a week or two, but most don't do even that, so don't worry.

And about "Life after crypto?". No. Crypto can be replaced only by something better. Think again of internet or just e-mail.

There will be no life after crypto imao. As there will be no life after computer games/mmorpg/youtube and so on. This conception is too interesting and valuable to simply dissolve and disappear. I mean just if you are checking the prices every hour or minute do you feel happy? If you say yes - why the hell not? Just be easy on yourself and cryptos and all this stuff. Still we have WoW and a lot of other stuff ;D

Well you can perfectly aks the same question for phone usage, internet, televison. Some things are just an addition of our modern moves. You can always step away from either of those things I summed up but if you've been using them for a long time you will always kind of feel a gap because it has become a part of your lifestyle. And doesn't have to be a bad thing as long as you don'''t let it dominate your life. Beut there is a way out. There is always a way. It' s going to take some more effort but there is a way. The thing you have to do is plan ahead. That's very hard in crypto but you really have to think about it. What do I want? At which point am I willing to sell. What I'd bitcoin goes to 10,000? What is my plan? It would be even better if you wrote it down. That would make the letting go moment even easier. You can put stop loss orders in place and be on your way. A lot of possibilities.

will be implemented for the icos . This will lead a lot of people out of the cryptos.

Crypto is a good thing because without it, the price of a legitimate Bitcoin would be either very low or very high, which would have contributed to the fact that no one would invest.

I can not say that I am addicted to crypto, but I enjoy learning about crypto, trading, communicating here with great like minded people. I invest about 1-2 hours daily in reading about crypto. I started recently so I am still green in this world and I love it. I hope that it will last long. But if crypto disapears, I am sure that something technologically even more advanced will appear.

The meeting of the Crypto Anonymous will be the exact contrary of those of the Alcoholic Anonymous. In the Crypto Anonymous meeting all crypto-people addicted to crypto-life will have to say their real names to the others, while their are sitting together on chairs in a circle, especially as mentioning one owns real name is something unconceivable in crypots.

Once one enters this exciting altcoin universe, it is difficult to get rid of this strange attachment, because we continually wonder about the innovations that emerge, the divisions and conflicts and the spectacular announcements.

I was actually quite successful in other online businesses, but once I learned about cryptocurrencies a couple of years ago, I knew that this was what I was looking for and there is no way I can separate myself from this.

If you are invested in cryptos or plan to invest, there is indeed no other way then spend every day hours to read the news and analyse the new coin offers, because they are not regulated and you have a huge choice. But no regulation and you have to spend a lot of time is better than regulation and the public press tells you what you should do. And if you really did your due diligence, you can have a great winning rate as a thank you for your efforts.

Crypto world is a huge market that people can't analyze in just a day but if your focus is on long term needs then you should invest on established coins i think, do analyze the top 30 at the coinmarketcap and you will probably pick good coins for sure. My life now are with crypto because it helps me a lot for my needs and i believe in the future of it no matter what.

I suppose all will agree with me here, but when you start dealing with cryptocurrency you become an addict. It will be really difficult to quit with it, as you will need this hype and a total chase. Probably quitting  dealing with it, you have to fide some new addiction that gives you adrenaline and…money.

why are you so depressed? You've made money and you've lost money, that's how the crypto space works. This is why you always need to have "rules" not only in life but especially in investing. One of these rules is to invest only what you are willing to lose, or what you can afford to lose. Many are just throwing money in the space and expect miracles, without considering whether they will be able to pay off various other things while they try to get rich. Before investing in anything get a paper and pen out (or open Excel) and do various calculations about how investing in something can impact you financially. You can develop positive and negative scenarios in order to be kinda ready in order to survive the crypto roller coaster.
