Title: [Warning] About Bitcoin.com wallet
Post by: OmegaStarScream on November 20, 2017, 04:31:12 PM
I just read this on Reddit and I thought I should let you know as not everyone browse /r/Bitcoin. Basically, 'Bitcoin wallet (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitcoin.mwallet&hl=en)' (which is now misleading) by Bitcoin.com is creating BitcoinCash wallets by default so I suggest to not recommend this wallet to anyone from now on as people could buy bitcoins from exchange and fail to send them to this wallet which could result into lost coins.

I just downloaded the app to check it ou and it clearly says "Bitcoin Cash Wallet" and "Bitcoin Wallet" when you first create your wallet. I support core and don't have any BCH, but I think that calling this a "scam" is just dumb.

Also, I saw some people saying that both wallets use the same address. So you can receive both BTC and BCH (E.g: there is no risk on losing your money if you send BCH thinking is BTC).

I think the problem here is not with their wallet adding support for BCH and Bitcoin, but I'd be a bit confused on why a wallet that calls itself "Bitcoin Wallet" would even need to add any other altcoin in it and create that wallet by default. It'd be okay if the wallet creation option was available to us to manually turn on. If the application is dedicated for BTC wallets, it should only make available by default that wallet. Also, yes this isn't a scam but it's misleading few  Bitcoin users and also we know that Bitcoin.com has a whole article on why they think Bitcoin cash is Bitcoin, which is where they're planning to head with their wallet app.
