Title: Selling digital goods with cryptocurrency
Post by: Arrrvin on November 20, 2017, 05:37:47 PM
Hi,

Sorry if I posted this thread at the wrong place.

I want to sell digital, downloadable goods on my website. I have problems with PayPal. Is there already a cryptocurrency solution? Or is a project developing such a service already? The more info the better.

Thanks

Nothing? Absolutely nothing? Then what's the use of all that cryptomoney if you can't even get properly paid with it on the internet?

It's not finished yet and the digital goods are not stored safe yet. That's why I haven't shared the website yet.

Thanks for the answer. I'll look into what BitPay can do for me.  :)

Yes, you can do that in your website. All you need to do is by adding the bitcoin payment gateway API in your website in the cart page. In this service Bitpay API is widely used one in the market. Henceforth, you will be able to use it and make more btc users attracted to your website.

Please check the API link to learn more and contact this site's support team get added.

Maybe you can go try OpenBazaar. It's a platform perfect for selling digital goods.

As good as bitpay is, their fees are absolutely crazy, and if I am a customer wary of high fees, I wouldn't use them. 16% and higher cannot be justified and sometimes they charge as high as 20%.

Great info. Thanks! I've started reading already. There's quite a bit to study. In the meantime I'll monitor more tips in this thread. A fee of 15-20% is very high of course. That makes me presume BitPay has a monopoly position at the moment.

Not sure what you wanted to ask here.
do you want to accept payments on your website fully in bitcoin or do you want to accept payment in bitcoin and then receive the money in usd?

Anyway, a quick google search gave me an alternative to Bitpay's high fee:
https://rocketr.net (Have personally used this site before)
https://gocoin.com
Coinbase ( You can exchange BTC to Paypal USD natively from here, but Coinbase has a strict rules make sure to read 'em)

I made a website where I want to sell a certain digital good. I would like a payment system where people can pay for the good, whereby after payment they are led to a download link, whereby the location of the digital good stays secret. In the past I have been working with PayPal and LinkLok, however there are disadvantages to the system. For instance it is basically applicable to one website only. I would prefer to sell from my own webiste over selling the digital good at an external marketplace.

P.s. I would prefer to pay for the service with a commission and not with a monthly subscription as the success of my sales is still obscure.

Ah, I see now.
In that case you might want to use either Bitpay, Coinbase, or Gocoin as Rocketr and openbazaar are used to sell goods digitally on their website.

Once you registered on one of those websites as merchant you can implement their API on your website.

An alternate solution is to hire a developer to specifically create a custom payment solution for your website.

There are various services out there already, for example, https://rocketr.net/

Excellent. I'm going to try to implement one of the mentioned API's. The budget for hiring a professional developer is lacking.
