Title: Re: Do you have an External hard drive? Post by: raze on June 26, 2013, 11:28:25 PM 1TB internal
3TB external mostly for media/large applications/backups 500GB external for transferring large files. However I really want another large external as a secondary backup because I'm pretty paranoid about losing all my data. Title: Re: Do you have an External hard drive? Title: Re: Do you have an External hard drive? Post by: JimboToronto on June 28, 2013, 03:03:04 PM Yes, several dozen terabytes, about half as backup.
I do not have internal HDDs in any of my systems, just SSDs. and my main desktop PCs/workstations boot from PCIe SSDs for better performance. USB3.0 really made larger external HDDs practical. Not a lot of machines have multiple eSATA ports and USB2 is just too slow. It used to take days to copy a multi-terabyte HDD through USB2. With USB3 it takes hours. Title: Re: Do you have an External hard drive? Post by: Welsh on June 29, 2013, 06:07:01 PM I have so many external hard drives I couldn't possibly list them all. Most of them are backups of our business. They normally range from 1tb-4tb. I believe I have smaller ones which haven't been filled up yet but they are more for temporary files.
