Title: Which wallet to use for an ICO
Post by: adamcro on November 21, 2017, 11:11:12 AM
I plan to do an ICO. I read and got familiar with the process. What bugs me is:
1. Which wallet should I use in order to do an ICO via Etherium?
2. Is MyEtherWallet good for this purpose?
3. Can I receive money to my address regardless which wallet do I use?

Yep, just use MyEtherWallet. If you have any more queries, check this thread out, and this have really helped me a lot in understanding. I think 99% of the users our there use MEW for ICOs, so just go ahead, use the same wallet to receive the tokens that you have. And yes, you will receive regardless, as long as it is an ERC20 token. :)

I use MyEtherWallet now. No any problem with it.
I think this is the best solution for buy ICO tokens.
But for sending tokens need some ETH.

Myetherwallet provides the best wallet when you are trying to riase fund from the investors for your project during ico. However, the are other contracts wallet you can used for fund raising such as wave wallet, Neo wallet and Nem wallets for you project. I think any of the forgoing wallets providers will resolve your ico wallet issue.

My no 1 selection MEW. Myetherwallet is the simplest, most safty wallet for ERC20 tokens and store Ethe. How ever if u a going to use MEW, you must follow steps for own safty
        1) dont lost ur private key and key file ever. Store       them in a secure place
         2) dont share ur private key and file with anyone. If u did it accidently, pls make a another one and tranfer token in to new one
          3) always check the url before enter the private key. There are so many phishin site which look a like MEW.
           4) if u only want to check the balace, use the myetherscan site.

If you are talking about ERC20 token then MyEtherWallet (MEW) is the best and logical choice.

2. Is MyEtherWallet good for this purpose?

Yes.

3. Can I receive money to my address regardless which wallet do I use?

Yes. You can received multiple Tokens in your MEW wallet. You just have to set up a few parameters about those Tokens that you are going to received.

Take note though that every wallet is prone to hacks. You need to store your private key safe all the time. And be sure to bookmark MEW url because there's a lot of phishing site out there.

MEW wallet is pretty versatile and works well.  Been used on the majority of ICO's I have participated in with no issues.

Ok let's rephrase it to you want to joined an ICO.

1. No doubt that MyEtherWallet is your best option here

2. Yes (Must have ETH balanced) (Bookmark MyEtherWallet.com as there are lots of phishing sites around)

3. You will received token and not a money for a moment.

For number 1, that is if the ICO are based on ERC20 contracts, yes under Etherium network. There are other ICO/projects that runs on other network such as Waves. For here you neeed Wave Wallets.

As suggested by others, you can use MyEtherWallet and create a smart contract with their service.

2. Is MyEtherWallet good for this purpose?

Yes, definitely. But besides MEW, you can also try Jaxx (https://jaxx.io/downloads.html), Mist (https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases/) and GETH & ETH (https://www.ethereum.org/cli) for that purpose.

3. Can I receive money to my address regardless which wallet do I use?

If you are referring to tokens, then yes, you can receive it using MyEtherWallet or any wallet that supports ERC-20.

There's no doubt that a lot of people and ICO owner use MyEtherWallet lately. So I recommend it but anyone using it need to careful of the thing he/she download or install on computer to avoid the stolen the coin inside the MyEtherWallet.
