Title: BTC-E
Post by: Durgolias on June 26, 2013, 05:11:16 PM
Hi everybody
I'm concerned about not being able to reach btc-e.com even though http://isup.me/btc-e.com tells me the site should be available.
Any suggestions what the problem might be?

Could be a bunch of different thing might just be doing some changes to the server or could be a ddos. I'm guessing if you try it again in a couple hours it will come up.

A few hours ago it was still up and running and everybody was making fun of the other exchanges which are down. the irony..
I'm just hoping my funds are safe.
Considering the fact that they did not announce any server maintenance or something similar resulting in downtime I'd guess it's a coordinated ddos attack on all exchanges in order to push the price down of maybe LTC before the launching on gox.. But in order to dump the price at least one exchange should be left running in order to actually dump the LTC.
Any thoughts?
Edit: I got this errormessage now: ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS
=> ddos?

Currently saying "Site is under maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience." which is odd because, as Durgolias said, nothing was scheduled. Given the DDoS attacks on other exchanges it makes me wonder if the same is happening to BTC-e.

Has there been any more news about what is going on with BTC-e?

How am I supposed to procrastinate and avoid doing client work without trollbox?!?  :'(

Their website shows a maintenance message.

Considering how long it's been down I don't think it's something minor. It might just be hardware failure of some sorts. Time to restore server from a backup onto a new instance?

Don't worry BTC-E is very professional. I'm sure your funds are safe. This thing is pretty normal to exchanges. This happen multiple times to btc-e and they back online with no problem.

For a clear explanation for anyone searching this..

People DDoS (take down a website) trading sites to manipulate prices. If people can't trade then the value of BTC gets affected.
This way hackers can gain from this.
