Title: Chicago Future CME will be good? (maybe bad)
Post by: Flamaicon on November 21, 2017, 03:01:38 PM
About the future Chicago market, what is your opinion about price fluctuations?
Considering betting market, companies will not buy bitcoins, but gamble (bet) on a future price. If there is a big bet on the devaluation, we may have a sharp fall from January.
In my opinion, in the first month of trading in Chicago it will be favorable to the rise of the price of bitcoin, but I believe that from February, we can have great negative oscillations.
Agree?

At first I thought crypto futures wouldn't have much of an impact due to crypto's 24 hour trading days.

If pump and dumpers add CME leverage to their coordinated price manipulation, there could be an uptick in crypto futures activity. It might be possible to see an uptick in CME trading volume before pump and dumps. In that way crypto futures might be a good indicator for future price movements, if not as influential as futures in equities.

I remember people trying to short apple and amazon. Crypto futures may not have a negative downtrend one might expect found with short selling. We've seen coordinated pump and dumping. There haven't been many cases of coordinated short selling. Its not as profitable and may carry more risk which makes it less attractive as a strategy.

We have a few derivatives markets already. I do believe it will probably affect some serious price swings and once the bots that are already online and trading on exchanges get in sync with the CME index we will probably see a bunch of weak hands being shaken out. Be careful and good luck.

The truth is that I have mixed feelings about this situation, I like the fact that this could put more money in the bitcoin market but at the same time I’m worried they are going to begin to sell paper bitcoin and that is going to make the price of bitcoin to go down.

At first I thought this will be a very good thing for bitcoin without any negative result. But upon reading all of your points on this thing I'm having some doubts now. My weak hands starts to trigger again, LOL. Let's be positive on this thing and though it is not yet on the run we have to see it first and experience if it will be good or maybe bad. I'm still expecting this will give the real moon.

I doubt there will be any major effect on bitcoin price if the Chicago market bets heavily on the negative side. Remember, the crypto market is open 24 by 7 unlike the real-world stock exchanges. Also it is not very easy to shake a market only by the choice of regional investors where the investors from around the world are active and having a positive outlook. $135 billion is not a small number to manipulate by the conventional stock-market techniques. Even though CME group handles ever larger asset under management, still it would not be very easy.

But I think, it is little early to say anything. We can just predict and no one is sure what will happen in future. A lot depends on the success of this project as many other institutional investor groups will be watching their performance and revenue to plan their stance in the crypto currency market. We will also have to keep a watchful eye to assess the further trends and the overall market condition.

Do not get scared, we must avoid being manipulated by those big shots, I'm sure we are going to enter a moment in the life of bitcoin where it is going to become even more unstable, they are going to create bubbles and then they are going to crash the price and our only defense against that is to hold our bitcoin and to not sell under any circumstances.
