There are no easy answer to that, you should consider several factors. When you look at the charts, you may do TA and FA but these tools doesn't always apply, consider as well the overall public interest, is the project is still active? how often is it being updated, etc. You see? There are a lot of factors that you have to consider and analyse.

When bitcoin becomes stable, and altcoin will try to pushing into the bitcoin's value. The dollar value will be following it. The fact that altcoin will come back after the big bullish trend already happened to the bitcoin itself. Many people said about the come back of altcoin is real. But if bitcoin was really bullish and majority of the coin just lost in the bitcoin's value.

Still long way to go bro it is the initial stage of the crypto currency era still it is not known by many people around the world.Few years back bitcoin is also struggling the price is very low but now people understand the potential of bitcoin so many people holding bitcoins which makes bitcoin price keeps increasing.
So the altcoins will be grab its place when the bitcoin is not reachable by everyone I hope the ETH and LTC both have potential and give huge price bump in the future so get your altcoins when it is cheaper.

When we talk of price discovery and recovery, we must speak fir individual altcoin. Any coin can rise astronomicslly in price or dump to nothingness. All this event depend on the development and perception of the traders and investors

Stability as such does not exist. There is only growth and decline (degradation) Every day more people recognize Bitcoin as a means of payment. The Crypto currency has no inflation, it can not be counterfeited. The market will be only 3-4 players. Bitcoin will be among them.

They are already. "Good" alts like Eth, Dash, Zec, Monero, even Ripple already started climbing up since November. Some other outsiders of TOP-100 list probably not deserve recovery cause they are overpriced already. I wonder why people are expecting some 1:1 clone of Dash for example will increase in price.

I think it recoving because of the stablelity of bitcoin because mostly of the altcoin when the bitcoin.seems pretty stable it will follow because of those who bought altcoins that could.lead to high price . But also I think when people are withdrawing their bitcoin because the price will.drop on that moment

Not an easy question to answer regarding all these things happening lately. There is an undeniable trust issue now between altcoins and investors. Recent fall in the altcoins made investor think twice before investing in a  alt coin. We need to be patience untill they recover .

On 12 December between 12:04 and 12:05.  ;)

Seriously, It goes in the waves. ALTS are up for 3 months, then down for 3 months... . But they always stay higher, than they were last time.

Altcoins are recovering already. And I mean against BTC, not only Dollar. If you look closely, more than half of them are green already. Just set BTC on https://www.worldcoinindex.com/
Of course, if Bitcoin makes another jump, the alts will need some time again until they recover. But the good alts do recover.
(Useless alts like BCH or BTG are indeed red, but that's expected.)

We can't predict that because bitcoin now is still pumping, one of the reason why altcoin is pumping because also of the price of bitcoin but price of bitcoin still high and pumping. But we can wait it, we just need patient. It takes time, we just need to wait and hold.

Patience is the virtue. Sometime you are in dilemma if holding is better in altcoin or getting converted in the btc and become a part of rally which is happening and make some real quick gains and buy later the altcoins. Because this rally is not happening in the altcoin at the moment. It is a catch 22  type situation.

If you notice the charts, most alts are in the "accumulation" phase. It's hard to spot it as it's still looking generally bearish, but this is the best time to be honest. You might catch a falling knife in the process but the odds are lower as we already seen most coins hit their bottom. Once the general market seems a large movement of value in alts, a surge will follow puling in value to most alts, and luckily some may get back past their ath.

Take Deep Onion for example, it used to spike to a hefty 4-5USD range and dropped to below .5USD, but if you check the chart for a few weeks/months after it, it's getting stable at .8-1USD range. It's a really good project and one of the best new crpytos for long term hold, features are coming out in a rolling stream of updates (DeepVault, DeepSend, DeepPoints system in forum) and the general community sentiment on it is getting bullish every week. I really suggest you to HODL some of it and even get free coins for doing so (check out their airdrops.).

It will recover when bitcoin's price is going downwards. But there are times that even bitcoin is rising alts are rising too and I saw a chance that when bitcoin is going down, alts are down too.

But most of the time, bitcoin up - alts down / alts up - bitcoin down.

When BTC stability or everybody withdraw from bitcoin.

Another thing is when many are withdrawing their funds to bitcoin and if they put it back to altcoins, then that will make alts to pump.

i agree with you mate its difficult to predict for altcoins when bounce and pumping we should know today the people focus to monitor into bitcoin price to put an investment hoping next year altcoin pump and recover the price value, even in the trading hard to decide where the best altcoin to put an investment.

more of the altcoin is not really in low price more of them is in the same price if you will base in USD not in BTC, but i expect more of them  will pump next year so if you are in altcoin my advice  is better to have patience and wait for next year.

There is no doubt that bitcoin is certainly the leader in the world of virtual cryptocurrency and the blockchain, and at the moment there seems to be no competitor. However, there is never a lack of latecomers in this market. I think there could be great success like ETH, DASH, DCT, LSK, NEO or even QTUM. Of course, the short term impact on the social status of BTC will not be affected.

Lately there was a huge growth in total cryptocurrency marketcap. Most of this new cash went into bitcoin and on its forks.
But someday (could be a matter of months) the price of bitcoin will stabilize and this new cash could start to flow in the altcoins.
And the recent Tether USD hack is good for altcoin because some people will chose altcoin over tether when BTC will start stabilized.

You're lying to yourself and others if you cannot acknowledge that BTC is in a bubble. It is too slow, too expansive and to difficult to use for regular Joe. You must acknowledge as well that inflation rates of fiat currencies aren't the same as rates of BTC growth. So, it will crash but who knows when? A lot of enthusiasm is very clear signal that crypto markets will crash.

Whenever BTC calms the f*** down!!  ;D

A month of BTC going sideways and alts get a little bullish, and people will start investing in alts again. Things will get better then.  :)

In my opinion, I don't think altcoins are in bad shape at all. Things like the tether or bitconnect problems might shake the trust in alts a little, but they are still doing fine. Just look at the recent increase of price in dash, ether, monero, IOTA, and why not bcash. Traders just keep swapping from crypto to crypto, based on different news regarding each project, and of course, based on what is happening to the market, because pumps are common and a lot of people try to take a quick advantage from those things.

If you look at coinmarketcap, bitcoin dominance is quite stable at 56%, so bitcoin and all the other alts are actually increasing, and not just BTC.

Alts are starting to recover nice and steady after what we can see. However , a big rally with alts will begin in the next coming months I think. There are some really good ALTS that will explode in price. Make sure you search the market good enough , you will find them.

when does altcoin heal.? the question can only be answered if the price of bitcoin back dropped like that time when bitcoin down then altcoin will be incara the users crypto to make a profit then can say at that altcoin will be healed .. but even now altcoin pretty good as a complement of bitcoin that makes the bitcoiner a lot more choice and more pareatif.

The ups and downs are common a per news. My observation is when BTC rises, alcoin get sold off until the new BTC "baseline has been established. Just a bad phase currently for altcoin. I feel cryptocurrencies have certain advantages but in practice I am not ready to use them myself. My hope is that one day  alts can truly stay separate and bitcoin won't be as big of an issue.

If my opinion is not enough to withdraw all bitcoin users, because it is not that easy to attract bitcoin, let alone the development of bitcoin has now started rapidly.

It is a hard question. I don't see a correlation between the bitcoin and the other coins, compared to the past. I hope that the altcoins will reach better prices in the future, but it is hard to say that when they can recover or will they recover.

It is quite noticeable that whenever BTC increases in price at a rapid speed the Altcoins bleed and decrease in price. Right after the BTG fork most Altcoins dropped by 50% in price. They decrease in price when BTC increases and increase in price BTC gets dumped. Although it is not the same case all the time, it does happen most of the times. It is best to hold BTC when we know it that its increasing rapidly from the past few days.

Altcoins will recover according to market condition and market interest situation when before few days bitcoin hardfork news booming and every one wants to get bitcoin because it is directly profit in case of hardfork for every bitcoin holder and due to this bitcoin was more demand able and now i think the time of altcoins and almost altcoin price will go up according to time.

I do not think that altcoins have something like a great fall. These days we have been watching their growth. Some coins jumped very high. Altcoins are ore preferable currencies to some people, even to many of them. They do not show so great flexibility like BTC.

Agreed! Altcoin is not that much stable and is not having that much of demand in the international market just like that of bitcoin. It is because of the reason that still not enough number of people are interested in investing their money in altcoin.

The thing is things will be changed significantly in the coming days. We actually need to hope for the best as this is the only thing which can keep our spirit alive.

Crypto market will be not interesting to traders if altcoins are stable. Those, who are smart enough to foresee ups and downs earn well, and it is not in their interest to support the market stability.
