Title: Newegg 5830
Post by: stapler117 on June 29, 2011, 06:31:39 PM
Newegg has a ETA for more Sapphire 5830 stock on July 4th. Just an FYI.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102878 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102878)

$110

Have fun.

Sucks if your waiting on a 5830. The only way you'll get your hands on one is if you spend the whole july 4th sitting on newegg haha.

Naw, I'm not waiting on one. I'll see if I can snag one and turn around and sell it on ebay ;) Come 12:01 AM PST, Newegg will be sold out. again.

The problem is newegg doesn't restock at 12:01 pst. They update their stock randomly. I purchased 2 5830's yesterday at 7 pm est and it was only in stock for 10 mins. A week or two ago I got two and they were in stock from 1 to 2 pm est. My point being you'll basically have to spend the whole July 4th holiday spent near a computer to guarantee you purchase one lol.

Not to mention being an "estimated" time of arrival, they could show up a day early, or a day later.

Should build a screen scraper that e-mails you when they are in. Then sell subscriptions  :P

Well at least I know their auto-notify feature is worthless.  I have auto-notifies on both 5830 models they list and I never received Emails for either one.  And Newegg.com is whitelisted.

I didn't realize they put it out at a random time. Well that sucks.

I saw that too. Newegg must have looked at ebay lol.

I see potential here...

They actually have an algorithm that automatically adjusts prices on items based on demand, availability, and probably even prices on other sites.

Download this:

http://aignes.net/download.htm

setup Autowatch with a link to the newegg product (for ex: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102878)
setup desired time and desired action.

You're done. never miss that inventory again!!!

I tried out the script and it detected that they were in stock, but curl gave an error that --ssl-reqd is not an option and did not send an email. I actually saw that they were in stock before I checked the forum and got a couple.

Try the script I linked to above. I was able to get one the other day, and a friend got 2. It seems they come in stock in small amounts occasionally.

Why does this one cost $20 more than the other one?

Title: Re: Newegg 5830

Because it's extreme? Aesthetically, it has a full HDMI port instead of a mini and it looks like there is a slightly bigger vent on the expansion port. It looks like it has a slightly different circuit board. I know this has been discussed elsewhere, but I doubt there is much of a performance difference. Still not a bad buy at $130.

From looking at the actual Sapphire site on these 2 variations of what is seemingly the very same card the only difference I can determine is the
SAPPHIRE TriXX Utility is included with the Xtreme edition. They gave you that to tweak it but left the clocks the same out of the box.  Pretty sure you can download that software for free... ;p

On their site if you compare the 2 side by side they list the Xtreme has being Shader model 4.1 and the regular one as being the newer 5.0. weirdness.
Also the regular has 2x DVI and one on the regular.

*I mean regular Display port vs the mini display port. They both have regular HDMI

and they are in stock FWI. Counting now...

As far as I can tell, performance-wise they are the same.  Funny the regular 5830s had an ETA of 07-04-11, but the Xtremes came in stock and the regular 5830's now have the ETA removed from their page.  I wonder if this is just a marketing thing to charge more and they are going to drop the regular 5830's?

They've been in and out of stock for the last few days too. Seems pretty random.

The xtreme version is still in stock and its been thirty minutes. Maybe they got a real shipment of them?

At this difficulty level with this exchange rate a 5830 will never pay for itself.  Hence why I'm not buying any, and probably also why not a lot of other people are either, and thus why they're still in stock.

So, you're saying that people are going to stop buying mining hardware all together?  Or is there another video card set up that can get you 1-1.2ghs for ~$450-500 ?

Just be quiet and agree with him, less competition for you =).

It's a little confusing, but BOTH the Sapphire 5830 cards are the Xtreme versions.

The $109.99 card comes in a box labeled "Xtreme", and easily clocks to 1000 MHz with the TriXX utility. Me and a friend ordered these, and are loving them (we get up to 330 Mhash/s, stable).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102878

The $129.99 (+ $7.56 shipping) card also comes in a box labeled "Xtreme".

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102946

The only differences I know of is that the $129 card has a full-sized DisplayPort connector, while the $109 card has the Mini-DisplayPort adapter (like a Mac).

Honestly, the $109.99 card seems like the better deal. It is $27 cheaper than the other one, and has a more-common Mini-DisplayPort port. I already have adapters for that since I work with a bunch of Macs.
I haven't seen anything other than the DisplayPort size on the $129 card that makes it any better.

Well, now the $110 one is listed as deactivated. Again. And now they put $7.56 shipping on it. Thanks for all the RMA's guys...

$137.56 shipped one is still there if you're into that.
