Title: MEW Airdrop wallet SPAM
Post by: maot4 on November 22, 2017, 12:23:55 PM
Seem to consistently see a lot of token airdrops in MyEtherWallet that are of no value, they just end up clogging up my wallet when I look in etherscan.io I have to scroll through these to see my actual token. Am I the only one that finds this annoying, wish there was a way to deactivate these from individual etherscan wallet view and maybe reactivate in the future when they are more valuable :-).

This is true! But if they sent free! No problem! But you need hold your private key! Not share it to other people!

Why rape yourself. If the tokens are annoying, then you can easily get rid of them. For example, you can give it to someone to whom they will be useful.

hahaha most of them are not even transferable and it would cost more in ETH to transfer than the value of the airdrops

I don't find it annoying, maybe you can just give it to me if you really don't like it, just joking!  :D I'm sorry but I think there is no way to deactivate it and then bring it back later. Just increase your patience about those token and wait for it to become valuable, for sure everything will be worth it. There are a lot of scams token today, but just hope you're holding the legit ones.

It's very important to avoid phishing links and sites. Never click to the link that should lead to MyEtherWallet.com. In 99% of cases it could be phishing. And never reveal your private key!

If you dont want to see it then you can also move your token  to other wallet you own,  and if you dont want  to recieve any shit token  do not join any airdrop any more thats the easy solution about your problem.

The easiest way is to not sign up to Airdrops. I have never been given any random ones without applying for them. To the best of my knowledge you can't simply deactivate them from MEW, you either ignore, give to someone or sell ... for more eth in gas than theyre worth.

If you keep signing up for every airdrop that comes by you'll end up collecting lot of crap that no one needs. I suggest you stick to decent airdrops and never sign up for airdrops by new members they don't last for very long.

Don't join any airdrop. It will be the good choice for you.I am a great fan of airdrop.don't think its annoying.its like drug to me :P :P at least found someone who did not like airdrop.

ahahah I don't mind airdrop if it is of value and an active token, for example I have airdrop of 1 XCC, what will I do with that :-)

Exactly I don't sign up for any airdrops, I just check my etherwallet on etherscan.io and I see these random airdrops in my wallet or am I the only one seeing random tokens on MEW :-)

You have pointed out really good point here, but I haven't claimed many airdropped coin so the only worthless coin I have in my ETH address are those which are distributed to all ETH address holding some amount of ETH.

There is no way to stop all this automatically distributing worthless token but it will be quite hard for them to keep sending those token using their own ETH when price per ETH will be high in future.

Sending out tokens in Ethereum's blockchain requires Ether to be spent. It's not nearly as expensive as moving out bitcoin but still shouldn't be a concern for those that just want to hold ethereum. Perhaps people should start using a wallet that doesn't show them tokens they haven't accepted. Mist in light mode would be ok for most in my opinion.

We're opposite haha. For me, I'd always like to see all my tokens on etherscan or ethplorer. Its just great to see all your efforts in one place. But yea the annoying part is almost all of it are shit. 0 value no devs no community. Graveyard tokens.

I think I'll be storing mine for future use. Life is probably a wheel goes round and round, if you're annoyed you can give it to someone that has patience and has a patience for the tokens. Just keep it that way if i were you, having vast amount of that token airdrops is pleasing to the eye.

In fact, this does not cause the wallet to be clogged, and you can choose to block these annoying TOKEN. I recommend your ETH light purse APP, the name is IM TOKEN, his development team from China, but this app is really great, you can try. It is free to choose to display or shield TOKEN, I think more suitable for you.

Scammers just try to spamming the airdrop token for free money. Just like waves platform which alreayd filled with thousand shitcoin or token. There is a problem and the contract requirements should have made more strictly. To prevent so many shitcoin.

You only lose your MEW wallet when you reveal the private key

I agree that to move out all your shittokens would cost a lot of gas, but what's about to move out just your valuable ones, to a new MEW? That would be easier.

It seems the trend will continue in your new MEW as long as you hold some ETH in your wallet so that doesn't necessarily solve the problem

You might be the only one. How did you get them if you didn't sign up for airdrops? kinda bizarre. might want to contact their support and post some screenshot here so other people can see what's going on.

That's very strange indeed, it doesn't happen to me either. I recall only one shittoken having appeared in several of my MEW wallets unrequested.
