Title: [Post if interested] Should we restart Bitbills?
Post by: Noitev on June 27, 2013, 01:48:59 AM
Hey guys, after around 2 years, me and llama have been wondering if we should restart Bitbills. We relaunched the site yesterday and haven't seen all too many people visit it. So I wanted to post here to see if anyone would want to buy a few if it were to restart. If we get enough interest, we should be able to get the supplies to restart it as soon as next week. It would be a lot cheaper than the alternatives we know of and we think having a cheap way to give people bitcoins in real life is an important step into mass introduction. We wanted to make denominations of 0.2, 0.5, 1.0 etc. but we could possible do lower amounts. Please post here with feedback or whether or not you are interested at all. Additionally, please sign up for emails at www.bitbills.com. Thanks so much!

There's definitely demand for them.

At some point though, when these start being used in commerce there will be counterfeits appearing though.   So it has to be presumed that at some point these definitely will be redeemed (other than those kept by the original buyer) and thus paying the least cost now is important so that there is less regret later when the bill gets destroyed in order to be redeemed.

After seeing the ease-of-use of the scan private key functionality in Mycelium wallet, the use of paper wallets and other private key transfer methods will be something more common, I believe.

Very interested!  Particularly lower values that can be given away as promotional items, or used to buy something like a pack of smokes from a friend. I looked at the .01BTC cards offered by Coinverters, but a pack of 50 cost nearly 4x the face value.

Larger denominations for collectible value would be cool as well.

I would love something like a 0.01 card that isn't extremely pricey.

:/ I'll have to fix that...

As for 0.01, that'd be prohibitively expensive...
