Post by: BitcoinPappi on June 29, 2011, 08:37:33 PM
A friend told me that he has  a silicon Graphics Onyx2 laying around. How efficient would you think this machine would be for minning provided electricity is
free any estimates hash rates

Maybe 50 hash/s (or 0.05khash/s)  if you program an OpenCL wrapper for the drivers.

In other words it isn't suitable for mining.

Not surprising though as the machine, although expensive at the time, dates back from 1996 and its MIPS cpu was only around 150-250Mhz.
